Is this postpaid, will they do another credit check?

    • +2

Looks like postpaid to me. In the CIS "You can cancel your contract at any time before the end of your
      current billing period."

  • +1

Sign up for the 150GB plan for the free 3 months to bank data then downgrade to the cheapest plan?

    • +10

I was contemplating this as well, but from their FAQs - "Data stored in databank does not expire but will be forfeited if your mobile service is downgraded, cancelled or terminated for any reason."

      • Ah ok. Well that answers my question. Thanks.

    • Okay so as a noob to Mate, I could sign up today and I'd bank 150GB for free 3 times as long as I cancel in Dec. If I needed to put aside 450GB for Christmas for the kids to stream on their idevices while we're on holiday, that would do the trick….

      I like it

      • Err scratch that, I see there's a 400GB mobile broadband plan, and there's a limit of 5 services.

So I'll just order 5 x 400GB services, and swap between them. That's up to 6TB of mobile data for free.

There's no data banking for the Mobile Broadband plans, but the monthly allocation of 400GB is only slightly less than the banked total of 450GB for the highest mobile plan, and if I timed it right and activated the first month 15 days before going on holiday, the 1st and 2nd month would fall either side and I'd get 800GB per SIM.

I think our holiday data is covered.

  • +4

Cool. Still have one month mate @ 120GB, then for some reason i have $42 credit (not sure from where), so ill downgrade to the $20 plan, then move to this.

    That would be 3months (mate)+ 2months(tangerine)+ 5 months(mate) + this 3 months on this deal= free 13 months on my second number

    • Hi just wondering how you get all these months for free? could you explain a bit further? e.g. tangerine sim only starts at $22 per month?

      thx!

      • Mate had a $1 a month promo, ended now. Tangerine had a free for 2 months promo, also finished. Both new users only.

        • -1

Was able to get 2 lots of free 3 months from mate

          • @easternculture: Free from Mate, not $1? I got 3+1 months with Mate for $4 with $9 cashback via ShopBack. Waiting to see if my second lot of $9 gets paid out too.

    • But this expires in 6 months so how come you do 3 months of this at this end of all that? Also tangerine's free period has already passed

  • +1

Damm. Just activated Telstra yearly plan.

  • So their 30% offer has finished then?
Was thinking could combine the 2

    • +12

      FYI 30% of 0 is 0

      • -2

30% off was for 12 months not 3 so even though your math checks out, you are incorrect

        • 30% off whatever is still > 0 so I think your point is 12 months is less hassle than changing after 3 months?

  • +6

    I can’t get over “capped 5G speeds at 100Mbps”

Like what is the point. Just be more realistic and offer 4G only

    • +1

That’s what stopped me from moving over.

    • +7

Agreed, but at the meantime, I never found any real use case for speed over 100Mbps on mobile phone.

      • +3

you never tried fast forward on 4k porn do you

        • 4k porn on a 6'' screen is crazy

          • @becku: not much screen real estate to cover the action……

    • +6

4G was already oversubscribed and all the best spectrum is being allocated to 5G service, better to get throttled 5G than unthrottled 4G.

    • +1

I have gotten near 300mbps with this sim lol
Wasn’t really downloading any large files though

Might I add this is regional too in an area with more cows than people

      • There are more sheep in metropolitan areas, which might explain this

    • My area has 4g but its kind of crap, would much prefer 5g with limited than no 4g access. The extra bands helps alot. (coming from Woolies 4g only)

  • +1

    But they don’t support eSIM

    • eSIM the only option maybe in a few weeks for new iphone.. hope they work out esim quickly..

    • What’s the advantage of eSIM ? Apart from it’s just a virtual sim?

      • Can switch between different sims easily.

      • Order online and be using it a minute later without waiting for a physical card.
What's the advantage of a streaming service vs DVDs?

        • +3

Order online and be watching it a minute later without waiting for a physical disk

      • +2

A lot of dual sim phones sold in Australia use eSIM for the second one. So you can use one plan for calls and special offers for data only.

        • and it just interlinks together?

what happens if you have an eSIM with a number/data. does it interlink so you will technically receive calls anytime into the 2 numbers? e.g. one can be for personal and one for work etc?

          • @prankster: You should receive calls on either sim. You choose which is default for outgoing calls

            • @greatlamp: On this topic, can one choose which SIM to use at the time of dialing a number or has to be set in advance for ALL calls?
Example: If the eSIM is the default but I want to use the second SIM for International calls as the eSIM does not include those?

              • +1

@Borg: On iPhone - when you open up the dialer at the top it has 'primary' (aka default phone line) if you want to dial from secondary number you just tap it and select the secondary - all on the dialer interface no need to go to settings.

                • @OpticalCog: Thanks and will assume would be the same on Android.

                  • @Borg: Yes.

                    • @DoctorCalculon: Thanks. I ported my primary to an eSIM earlier today along with a Boost SIM. Nice and easy now that I see how it works.
Handy and can now use the freebie Boost SIM for extra data and use for making calls when I don’t want to use my primary.

                      • @Borg: I didn't think either More or Boost offered eSIMs. I assume your primary (eSIM) is with a different provider?

On iOS, you can enable automatic data switching, which will allow data usage from the secondary SIM if primary internet data fails.

                        • @DoctorCalculon: They don't. I am now using Amaysim 365 day plan as primary (eSIM) and Boost as SIM.
Data Switching & Backup Calling = Yeap, same on Android. In turn use the Boost for data to preserve my 60GB Amaysim data.

    • More telecom seems to offer eSIM now. Not sure when they started this. I had put off getting one for the last 3 months just because they don't do eSIM. Fnally, ordering one today.

That would explain why more of these offers are popping up.

    • +4

Lol, that article is from 2021

  • I am just finishing up my 2 months free mobile plan with Tangerine (Bupa deal).
Has anyone done a port from Tangerine Mobile to More Mobile?

    • -2

I did from tangerine to mate
      Went smoothly

    • Tangerine & More are sister companies under the same ownership IIRC
should be able to work things out if experience not seamless churn

      • Tangerine & More are sister companies

Yes. They even share the same call centre. I spoke to the same rep as a Tangerine customer, and then as a More customer because they didn't work things out (when churning my NBN service from one to the other).

        • … and was that same customer rep able to resolve the issue?

  • Cheers OP! 🍻

  • Cheers OP! Looking for a way to shift off that Telstra JB plan as it's my year to reup on that but it's port in only

  • Already with More for NBN
Have 2x numbers on one account with optus.
anyway to do the same here?

    • do tey do?credit check?

  • Are they any good? Heard bad things and went with Felix.

  • +5

Just noticed it also applies to their Mobile Broadband plans, enjoy :)

    T&Cs

    • i feel this is better than the mobile plan!

Mobile broadband is also just a normal sim card right?

      • Mobile broadband is also just a normal sim card right?

Mobile Broadband is Data only - no calls, texts, etc

        • yeah but can i use it in my mobile phone (as a hotspot?)

          • @baron33: Yep. I'd assume so

            • @CC123: Can we get the Sim only plan
And the mobile data plan, both for free?

              • @MagicTsukai: Should be able to, just add both to the cart. Limit of 5 services though.

    • +1

Just FYI, after monthly quota has been reached the service gets temporarily paused (no shaping). With that being the case, I'll stick with Belong for now.

      • Only the data service gets paused, right? Then you need to buy super expensive data packs.

    • Any recommendation of unlocked 5G wifi modems?

  • Anyone know how long it takes them to ship SIM? Have an account due in a few days so might be a tad late!

    • +2

I just put through an order, and on the order confirmation page it says this:

      Estimated SIM Delivery Time
Expect your SIM card(s) within 3-5 business days

  • Could be wrong but does it allow you to proceed with more than 1? I have added 2 to my cart and it's still saying it's free

    • +3

      From their FAQs:

can i activate multiple mobile services under this offer?
"Yes, you can activate up to a maximum of 5 mobile services under this offer."

  • +2

Anyone not a CommBank customer and looking for a qualifying product for this deal, you can get $250 cashback in addition to your free mobile plan:

CommBank Low Fee Credit Card: $250 Cashback with $1000 Spend in 90 Days

    • -6

Why?? Isn’t a debit card free with Commbank?

      • +5

I quite clearly state that you can get $250. That is better than free.

This is OzBargain, where we share DEALS.

        • -2

So its not free, you still have to spend to get the $250 and monthly $3 fee

    • So if currently a commbank customer can’t apply for this deal?

    • -2

Hmm, i have council rates to pay

      • I mean $1000 in 90 days is just the average spend on groceries these days.

        • -1

My council rates are $2000+ lol

          • @easternculture: Do government services count as eligible spend for credit card rewards and cashback?
Last time I checked they didn't.

            • @DoctorCalculon: Council rates are not government charges.

              • @easternculture: Council == Local Government

Last I checked, I didn't receive any points for paying a small part of my rates online using my Rewards card.
It would probably work using the Sniip app.

  • Will it work in NZ as going there for a month. Or if anyone knows which prepaid service works in NZ? Only to receive calls there.
    Thanks

    • +2

Boost. You can do wifi calling from your AU number while there

    • +2

I had an absolutely nightmare with More and NZ roaming just 2 weeks ago. My More sim would not register to any partner network in NZ, i even tried 3 phones and made sure to enable all networks roaming. I paid for the $35 7Day travel pack which i couldn't even use.

Their escalations and L2 support team was absolutely hopeless. They actually recommended i buy a local sim, which is dumb because i was expecting important calls on my AU number.

Im porting over to the Boost deal now

    • 3 Hong Kong is quite good. Search ozbargain for its details

  • Does this work with step pay?

  • -1

I reckon the cashback won't work through Topcashback AU as the dollar amount will be zero while putting an order in and then 15% cashback won't get counted for…..am I right or am I missing something??? can someone please shed some light on the cashback thing for this offer????

    • Topcashback AU

someone please shed some light on the cashback thing for this offer????

      Two words… caveat emptor.

    • 15% of 0 = 0

  • Maximum 5 sims allowed per customer

So, does this mean, you can use the first sim for the first 3 months, port out to a different provider and then port back in to More for 4 times in a row?

If you can then you got yourself 15 months 5g mobile plan for free!

    • Need to activate within 30 days.
