Hefty discount on the HP OMEN X 27" 240Hz, don't think I've seen it this low before. Quite an old model now (2019) but it's still one of the faster screens out there today.

Being a TN panel it's certainly not the most exciting monitor, and this is probably the most you'd want to pay for it in this day and age, so is it a bargain? I would say yes, especially if this kind of thing is what you're after.

RTINGS review for reference.

Also for reference against newer monitors, here's a Hardware Unboxed review of a different monitor where the OMEN X 27 appears in the charts.

Grabbed one out of morbid curiosity to complement my AW3423DW, as a spare screen for lugging around to LANs and other scenarios where the Alienware is less than ideal.

Rarely but it's always a treat when I do. Way back when Quake III and Unreal Tournament were still a thing, it used to be like every Friday night, those were some good times…

2002 called - they want their LAN parties back…

Srsly though, are LAN parties still a thing? Awesome if so & I wish I was invited had time..

You still got 2002 on the phone? I want my 2002 back!

Interesting point you raise though - I don't even think it's so much that we have less actual time now, just that there's more things with a lower barrier to entry competing for our attention (looking at you, internet) so these days the effort of lugging your shit around to a friend's place like that seems monumental in contrast to just staying at home or whatever.

TN panel should be made illegal in 2023.

Not so, have you seen the PG248QP? The tech has come a surprisingly long way and evidently still has its place.

Hope to see more affordable models along the lines of the PG248QP in the future.
