Bought one of these a while ago for $61. Reviews are mixed mainly due to the rounded typewriter-style keycaps, but I personally quite like it. You can customize the emoji keys using Logitech Options or Options+, and the keyboard itself is very easy to clean due to its massive travel distance, which is a huge plus for me.

That's a great hint for those who occasionally clean their keyboards.

For those who don't, it looks like there's a great prospect of getting it dirty a lot - due to its massive travel distance.

    • My sister doesn't have this, but she got a keyboard with cherry blues and typewriter style keys from somewhere and it looks awesome.

    Ugly

Yeh, looks like some kids toy from toyrus

It's missing some keys. Home/end/page up/down. What use would a keyboard without those keys be?

Sure you can probably map the smiley faces. I am just surprised these keys are not standard and in a better layout.

    • Keyboards without home/end should be illegal. Especially those that replace those keys with emojis.

      Some real Gen Z shit.

    • +1

Cal me Gen Z but I don’t think I’ve ever used home / end, only occasionally using up / down. That being said, I once had a keyboard which bound scroll lock to the backlight. Excel was unusable unless the backlight was turned off.

So I’m wondering where scroll lock is?

      • So when you want to jump the start/end of a line of text, you press the arrows keys over and over again??

          ctrl+arrow grandpa

          • @smalltime0: ctrl-arrow goes word at a time. No substitute for home/end/ctrl-home/etc, for me anyway. 😜

          • @smalltime0: I may be a grandpa, but at least I’m not wrong like you are kiddo.

            • +1

@PainToad: grandpa, I hope you realise I was kidding.
Pops, if you want to use end and home, it is on me.

        • Yeah it sounds really handy. I’m writing reports daily at work, so very glad to learn about it. Typically I use the up / down keys in combination with control left / right.

  • Returned this keyboard after about a month of using it.

I would buy it for the looks, but not for the typing experience or how it sounds. Definitely better options (with cool features like hot swap switches / gasket mounting) from the Chinese brands like Akko, Royal Kludge, keychron and Ajazz.

    • Where can you return after using it for 1 month?

      • +2

        Amazon.

item can be returned until January 31, 2024 for change of mind if purchased between November 1 and December 31, 2023. If this item is damaged or defective, you may be entitled to a remedy after this period. Visit Returning Faulty Items for more information.

Purchased two of these actually, one was for my htpc and one for parent. The one I returned is the one I intended for myself.

Also the key caps can be replaced with ordinary ones, if you find the rounded key caps annoying to type on.

        • Cool I didnt know they would accept return if you have used it already and it had no faults

          • @bheart: Normally within an hour or so after you've given it to Australia Post you'll have your refund.

They don't even wait to receive the item back to check it.

Amazon has amazing customer service compared to the crap we're use to here in Australia.

            • @PainToad: How do they stop people from abusing returns though? Even costco became stricter with returns

              • +1

@bheart: I'm guessing there's some threshold for detecting abuse.

              • @bheart: There's a ratio of kept items to returns they use when assessing your account. If you get flagged for returning a high $$ value of items compared to what you've bought and kept your account may be restricted/banned.

  • round keys feel weird to type on. this is for looks and not for data entry or gaming

    • +1

not for data entry or gaming

So, for what? Display in a cabinet?

      • Displayed in the background of a TikTok video…seems to the their target audience.

      https://www.amazon.com.au/Crayola-Keyboard-Mouse-Bundle-1110…
I unironically bought this for the University comp sci club shared computer when I was president, because I got sick of people complaining about the keyboard and mouse on a machine you were suppose to ssh into to test code.

      • +1

        Hahaha, wtf Crayola!

Although your solution is technically genius, have you also tried a username/password? 😅 Maybe tuck the dedicated test machine in the corner. 😝

        • Oh this was like 10 years ago… A brilliant solution.
Learn to SSH, it was the point of the machine.

        • You could SSH into the uni machines at time. The problem was that they were not set up to modern standards…. especially with SQL calls.
So the machine would compile and run code that you can say - this is clean, but the uni examples aren't up to date.
But do it on the SSH server, don't use the keyboard, hence the crayola solution
