What I believe is they still use their (old designed) hardware and a Chinese factory builds the units.
But the main problems I found are software and functionality related issues so the head unit is just nearly a junk and there is no support other than the retailer you bought it from.
Might want to consider paying $50 more and getting the 6.2" SONY XAVAX1000

Add $50 more (LOL) for this Kenwood DMX5020S, 6.8" display, high quality and powerful pre-out lines plus subwoofer dedicated one.
When I decided to install my system I thought only the main unit and 2x pairs of speakers then I changed my mind and I added an under seat subwoofer.
Everything is controlled by the head unit and the sound is just fantastic!

For a VE Commodore Omega series 1 what should I be looking at? Hate that factory standard Blaupunkt unit with a passion and how the hvac and stereo are combined to make it even more difficult and expensive to upgrade without costing a small fortune.
Blaupunkt was a glorious brand but now it's unclear what's behind it.
I was looking to buy a head unit and I wasted a lot of time by searching for feedback or hints about reliability but I couldn't find anything.
