BEJUBLAD Induction Cooktop $559 + $5 C&C ($0 in-Store) @ IKEA

110

I recently bought this cooktop and is extremely impressed with it.

Bought it for $594 during the 15% off Black Friday sale and now it’s even cheaper.

Switched from natural gas cooktop to induction and heats up the cookware much efficiently and quickly.

Good timing for those with Induction training…

Do we need an Induction Induction?

      • @jv might need it

I've always heard great things about this model. Very reasonably priced. Will need a sparky to run a new circuit to the stove.

Looks much nicer IMO than a gas stove and way easier to clean. I hate cleaning gas stoves, not to mention burning open flame inside.

    • Don’t forget the hot handle.

Yep, new 6mm cable with 32a rcbo and an isolating switch - That’s the expensive part.

But I do agree, it’s really easy to wipe down any mess or spillages.

It was my last gas appliance before disconnecting my gas to the house for good.

      • I didn't think an isolating switch would be required, but nice to have.

        • I believe it is required in VIC anyway

    • Is it just a new plug or does it need much more?

      • You'll need an electrician to run a separate circuit from your meter box to the stove location.

      • A new 6mm cable with 32a rcbo and an isolating switch - That’s the expensive part.

From the reply just above yours.

  • The website says "Must be installed by a licensed electrician". Was it difficult to do it yourself?

    • Just plug and play. That’s it.

Can’t DIY unless you’re a licenced sparky as it’s hardwired.

But I had to trim a bit out of my bench top to retrofit this.

  • BEJUBLAD is a sound I make when I'm playing with my 8 month old son.

Isn't that the noise he makes as he sicks up?

  • How much did it cost you to switch from gas to induction?

Many people here are doing this, I helped my parents get off gas back in August. For them they've been half way there for some time - had solar (optional) and split systems for heating (stopped using the gas wall heater in 2009. The stove has always been a ceramic electric weirdly (despite having mains gas). If they upgrade the kitchen, induction will go in. So that just left the hot water system, which was costing $660 year on average in total gas bills (usage and daily fees).

Using the Vic rebate brought the total cost down to around $2k for a Hydrotherm X8 heat pump unit which has been fantastic so far. For them (2 people) it's averaging under 2kWh per day to reheat and is done within 2 hours. The noise isn't anywhere near as bad as I was expecting, based on what I read. I wasn't prepared to pay double for the Reclaim unit which is near silent.

Once the hot water system was installed, I got the installer to put a cap on the gas meter so no physical gas can be used, got them to call the retailer and close the account/final read. They received half a dozen "To the occupier" letters, but these have since stopped. So good for them to be rid of gas.

  • Some of IKEA inductions are made by Germany.
The rumor is rebranded AEG stuff.

I bought this one. I am quite happy with that.

    • This one that I’ve got said made in Italy 🇮🇹

    • I have an Ikea Induction cooktop (HÖGKLASSIG), found it on AEG support page by model number.

  • Im waiting for BLIXTSNABB reductions.

It's included in their current sale. Members get an additional 10% off bringing it down to $503.10

We're in the process of moving off mains gas now(getting solar installed in the coming weeks) and the next step was to switch out our gas HOB to an induction, is this sale(and with the additional 10% off going concurrently) worth jumping on even if we may not get it installed for another 2-3 months? I've started looking at various induction stoves and they're mostly around a similar price range(but haven't looked much into the finer details so far to knowing this is going to be the better bang for buck)

  • We have this cooktop (for 2+ years) and it's really good. Nice even heat, easy to clean. Controls take a little bit of learning, but become intuitive after a little while.

  • $559 price down. it connect with 32amp? or just 10amp socket?
