These are NOT Thunderbolt cables, just USB4 - they do not guarantee Thunderbolt speeds and the minimum power delivery is halved

    “Compatible” literally just means USB-C

    • You have these cables and confirm this is true? i actually need some TB4 cables…

      • +2

I HAD these cables, returned them the same day they arrived as they were useless

        • +1

          Noted tnx

          • +2

@hoosier daddy: I returned two different cables today that were listed on here, ~$45 each normally and the same thing - generic USB4 advertising as Thunderbolt (which needs to be certified)

      • I think a full spec TB3 cable should cover the full range of TB4 needs?

    • -1

      “Compatible” literally just means USB-C

But it said "Backward Compatible” not "Compatible"

You have these cables and confirm this is true?

I am not sure but most of the time they don't own it and keep saying rubbish.

      • +2

If a cable is Thunderbolt 4 certified, then it should have the Thunderbolt logo & 4 printed on the cable.

    • So fake Thunderbolts?

  • -1

Do they also have Thunderbolt to Lightning cables?

    • +4

Yes, and they are very very frightening.

      • Will you do the Fandango?

  • +2

thats way too cheap for a thunderbolt cable.

    • -1

Just because apple charges $130 for a 1m TB4 cable doesn't mean it costs (close to) that much to make it

      • +1

Thunderbolt is not just a cable, there are X-rays of Thunderbolt cables that show why cheaper cables are cheaper

        • "The one glaring issue with Lumafield’s study–which the company doesn’t directly point out–is that the Amazon, NiceTQ, and Atyfuer cables are not Thunderbolt cables,"

Seems the xrays are not an apples vs apples comparison…

          • @hoosier daddy: Ok, but these cables are also not Thunderbolt

So don’t bitch about Apples cable being “expensive” for not being a generic USB4 masquerading as Thunderbolt

            • @linkindan: Where exactly did I bitch about apple cables "being a generic USB4 masquerading as Thunderbolt"?

I recall only saying I doubt it costs anywhere close to $130 to make that cable

              • +2

@hoosier daddy: Moot point, the cost to produce an item is irrelevant, it's only what consumers are willing to pay that matters.

                • @The Judge:

it's only what consumers are willing to pay that matters.

Yeah, that is why people paid that much for Apple stuffs.

  • +2

    Was much cheaper before.

    • -2

Not the same cable, that one is also under this listing and same price $13.69

      • +1

It is the USB4 cable option in the link above listed at $7.37

        USB4 Cable:
        AHGEIIY USB4 Cable for Thunderbolt 4 Cable (1.2M/4Ft) Supports 8K@60Hz Video/ 240W Charging/ 40Gbps USB4 Thunderbolt Cable USB C to USB C Cable for USB4, Thunderbolt 3 Cable, Steam Deck and USB-C

I have a few of these AHGEIIY cables. They’re basically over-speced USB4 cables without Thunderbolt 4 certification.

A good summary on the differences between USB4 and Thunderbolt 4: https://satechi.net/blogs/usb-4-0-vs-thunderbolt-4-0-differe…

Scroll down and refer to USB 4.0 vs Thunderbolt 4.0 Comparison Chart.

In reality, unless the deal is a loss leader or true bargain, no certified Thunderbolt 4 cable will be sub-$20.

    • When you see what's inside a Thunderbolt cable, no, they definitely won't be under $20.

  • I just bought one of the AHGEIIY USB C 3.2 Gen 2 Cable (100W/ 10Gbps/ 8K@60HZ), USB C to USB C Cable 2M, USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type C Cable to use with a 65w gan charger to charge my laptop.

Not used it yet but it seems to be well made. Got the version that claims 5A 100w and 10gbps for future potential use over the usb 2 protocol 60w charge only cables as my laptop charger is 65w so I assumed I'd need at least that cable capacity.

It seems well finished from the outside, better test it out!

  • What would you use a thunderbolt cable for with a switch?
