    Standard itech price error

  • +2

they are well know for Price Error.
pricehipster says was $260 now $46, imo it was supposed to be $246

hope they replace their Keyboard, clearly numbers keeps skipping

    • +3

      probably is Razer

    • +4

I have this exact headset at work and use it via Windows Bluetoooth (i broke the usb dongle) and its fine.
The only catch is i cant use the smart buttons of the headset but overall the headset works exactly fine..

      • Okay you've convinced me to get this.

My previous comment was unfair generalisation on Bluetooth headsets as I've tested limited ones.

    • you probably have a crap bluetooth chip on your motherboard @CodeXD

      • I am using Intel® Wi-Fi 6 AX200 on my laptop.

I've tried a few Bluetooth headsets and buds but the mic is always poor, even my samsung buds 2 pro with windows, they work great on android.

        • +3

Are you sure the device was BT5+

    • +1

      dedicated single

It isn’t all it’s cracked up to be

      • +1

Ops was supposed to be dedicated dongle* lol

        • Those with a dedicated dongle will be glad that November is over with

    • +1

Bluetooth 5+ on a decent enough wireless card is very good compared to BT4, it's completely functional now.

  • Is there a consensus on who makes the best budget/mid range headsets these days?
Plantronics and Jabra seem to get used a lot

    • I have some wired plantronics. They are good enough for work, they are on-ear so i can still hear what is happening outside, and the microphone is excellent and blocks a lot of external noise (eg train station nearby, airplanes flying overhead, traffic, kids yelling, etc). I guess these ones will be the same, just with bluetooth

      • There's a big difference between wired and bluetooth. I've always had issues with bluetooth if they connect directly to PC, but the ones with dedicated dongle work well.

    • because they are good

    • +1

Plantronics seems to be one of the top.

    • Bit burnt by my jabra evolve2 75. Poor microphone which intermittently drops out or garbles all the time.

      • Had the same issue, others complaining that I sounded far from the mic. You should try rolling back the firmware to 1.7.4. Haven't had any complaints since then.

        • Cheers but has happened on all firmware. I think it's a physical connection issue. Bit burnt and disappointing for Jabra.

          • @Ezuku: Yes there are many issues on this. Some thin wire ends up crapping itself for the mic and eventually does not work at all.

    • In the budget category I'd highly rate Anker Soundcore.

      • Paul Anker once recommended that

    • +3

I've been cursed and have done a few unified comms migrations, so I'll share my learning. Apologies for the novel.

Really depends on the use cases vs budget.
      How long you're wearing them?
Is it Teams/Zoom AV calls or AWS Connect/Teams Telephony, etc?
Are you planning on using them for music?
Do you need active noise cancelling?

If your aim is compatibility, then wired and dumber the better. Done a roll out with these and the wired version, of the wired tend to be the least troublesome (ignoring build quality which isn't bad but not amazing). Also you're dealing with call centre work or have PSTN calling going on, wired seems to have the least latency issues (less application/driver/firmware nonsense).

I use these if I'm in the office (hot desking) which play nice with Teams, etc. BT5 range is good, dedicated dongle is nice. They'll pair to a phone or another BT device (including laptop but performance might vary on how many things you already have paired to that device). 2 issues with them.

Issue 1. That said, not a comfortable set of on-ear pads and I personally only get 45 minutes to an hour before I want to rip them off.
Issue 2. An early firmware on this headset would trigger the windows volume levels to constantly shift when you weren't using them. Resulting in the volume menu popping up constantly when you had no audio running through them. It has to do with their anti-startle (it trys to cap incoming call volumes to a preset level) and required the companion app. Installing the Poly Lens software fixes it, which can be a pain on a work laptop. Pretty sure it got fixed in later firmware. Point being sometimes the smarts bites you in the ass.

At home, I use an older generation Jabra Engage75 if the house is empty (on ear, light headset, noise bleed is pretty high), if I'm feeling brave I'll use the Sony XM3 on their own generic dongle. Every so often Teams throws its toys out of the pram and there is a whole process to get them to play nice again.

tl;dr: Depends on what you're doing. Poly and Jabra seem to be the dominate players but experience seems to vary from generation and model. Wired seems the care free. If you have a headset without a bluetooth dongle and you have lag issues, try getting a cheap bluetooth 5 dongle and just pair the headset to that.

      • How do these compare to the Jabra engage 75

        • +2

Two different beasts (unless your talking about the Jabra Evolve range).
The Engage are a call centre headset, not really ideal for mobility. Their thing is connecting into VoIP deskphones, security, long use time and clarity. The Poly v4320's are certainly a much more versatile headset compared to the Engage.

If you're talking about the Jabra Evolve range, I haven't had a decent bash on them but no real issues when testing. I rate the feel of the Evolve's over the voyager, but I have seen plenty of reports of sketchy mic quality on the evolves. That said neither brand shows up more then the other when I go digging into stats.

Not sure I would bother to order if this is a price error…

  • +4

    Ordered one. Let’s see

    • +3

      This is the way

      • okay you convinced me, i rolled the dice too lol

  • +3

I too ordered. With tax and PayPal it came around 62$

    • No surcharge with commbank direct deposit, or bpay.

      • But it's slower right, less chance you'll get it before they notice the price error

      • +1

PayPal is safe and easy refund when it comes to buying from small retailer in case they screw up with the order. Paying 2 percent surcharge makes sense here imo.

  • I ordered too, but with this amount of people ordering it'll likely be cancelled :(

    • I ordered from a store that had only 1 in stock, will see what happens tomorrow

  • +6

Irony would be the company ringing you on a Plantronics POLY VOYAGER V4320 Wireless Headset to tell you that your order is cancelled.

  • Ordered one from skycomp linked above, has been cancelled

  • Attempted cba bank deposit. Payments not going through. Should I even bother?

  • Ordered. Let's wait

  • -1

Ordered one as well. I feel slighty unsure of the product quality. Are these headphones any good? Bought one for my son.
    Thanks.

    • Great if your son works in a call centrw/ office if he needs noise cancelling

  • Thanks. Ordered one also

  • +1

Thanks, bought two! Fingers crossed 🤞

  • Got one, let's see. Thank you.

  • +1

Screw it ordered one, we shall see

    • +1

      Thats the Ozbargain spirit!
      Order now, think later

  • -2

this is the less gorgeous version mainly for call centre in Asia or receptionists of some nanny agency. Mainly designed for pedantic people
The more exclusive one for executives, lawyers and brokers costs $200 each with a glowing blue light as you wear them.

  • I have this at work. I use it with Mac and my only gripe is I hear my own voice as feedback on the headset and that's annoying.

    • +1

ah, i find it actually a nice feature on my wired plantronics, allows me to check if i am being heard properly, or muted. I tihnk there is an option to disable that feedback on the windows app, might be similar on a mac?

    • I think you can turn it off if in the poly software.

  • Not a fan of pleather on these things. Do people really prefer it?

  • Thanks Op, for that price I ordered one, let's see if it gets processed! Cheers

  • is the base station DECT or all bluetooth?

    • Bit late now sorry, but they are all bluetooth.Base station just does charging and some smarts like answer on removal from base.

  • Damn not available anymore

  • +1

I think my order's status last night was Processing. Now it is showing Allocating

  • No cancellations yet, fingers crossed!

    • Somehow doubt that they would be open at 8:50am, let alone had time to discuss (if incorrect pricing). All in good time…all in good time. :-)

  • Got my order cancelled from DeviceDeal.

Unfortunately we are going to have to cancel and refund your order for the Poly Voyager 4320 UC Stereo USB Bluetooth Headset (Stand & USB Dongle) as the unit is not in stock and we have been informed that it is a discontinued model so we will not be able to bring it in again to complete your order.

    • Haha, lies. There are currently 500 of these exact models sitting in supplier warehouses in Sydney! The price is way below what it should be though. Many online businesses drop ship only and scrape their prices from supplier portals or price sheets, then add on their standard margins. Sounds like one of the suppliers messed up their pricing and these drop shippers scraped the incorrect ridiculously low prices. They haven't been discontinued, although Poly is now part of HP so product codes for all of their headsets are changing.

      • Yeah, of course it's a lie, it's just the excuse they have. Still, hopefully someone gets theirs!

        • Actually the models I was looking at were the MS Teams certified ones. Looks like they were advertising the non-Teams certified ones which are also in stock but not nearly as many. It's funny because the non-Teams certified ones will work with Teams calls and meetings, but they're not worth stocking because everyone wants Teams certification these days.

          • @terrygtriplea: Yeah, never understood that certification. They all seem to work with teams or other software, i always though it was just a marketing gimmick

            • @pichxlonco: More likely the certification is there to facilitate IT teams to convince non-technical management to make large purchases decisions on the guise that they are guaranteed to work compared to other brands etc that aren't certified.

  • Any update on order status for anyone?

    • +2

      Got the cancellation email today.

Bought from the main site i-tech.

Paypal already refunded so that's good.

      • That's odd. I'm still waiting for my cancellation email.

        • +1

I'm still waiting too, they're probably sorting through the orders frkm top to bottom so we will get order cancellation eventually

  • +1

Mine still says allocating.hasn't changed since yesterday morning

    • I didn't order it using an account so I can't track my status 😞

  • Got the email and refund from Paypal.

    • +1

  • +1

I ordered first and just got my refund.

    • Perhaps you should have kept he deal to yourself and they might have let a one off pass through. If received only them Post if deal still shows up. :-)

      • Yes I realised that now!

        • It wouldn't have helped. I ordered from a store that had only 1 in stock, and still got cancelled. They would notice such a huge discount on a product
