Has anyone seem a shootout or comparison between the various different brands of power stations?
Looking for the safest one, given the potential dangers with these

  • What are the risks of fire with these no name batteries ?

    • Depends on the battery chemistry and construction quality, but given the amount of energy contained and given that they may be in hot car in the Aussie sun -
      pretty high I would think

The spec says LiFePO4 cells, so relatively safe. They still contain a lot of energy, but LiFePO4 doesn't really have problems with thermal runaway, and catching fire, if there is a problem, or damage.

Something else in the unit could catch fire, but again, it's not super likely.

      • LiFePO4 cells are better thats true, but still plenty of opportunity for fire with the amount of energy contained. Dodgy wiring, cheap components failing, lack of fall-back design is all it takes.
The ALLPOWERS one that was half price has quite a few reported failures and gave Stumo little shocks https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14703187/redir
This is something that you would want the safest, triple fall back version of unless you use it with all of the above in mind.

        • still plenty of opportunity for fire with the amount of energy contained

Yup, which is why I said "They still contain a lot of energy" and "Something else in the unit could catch fire".

          • @Prong: Yes, we agree.
Having pulled a few alarming Chinese no-name 240v products to pieces, it is truly case by case. I have seen some that must be the result of out-sourced piece work. Ridiculous through hole soldering. Blobs everywhere like a kid had done it etc. Others are professionally executed and appear great quality.
            It's case by case.

    • One reveal suggested this is the same company that produces OZB favourite GOOLOO car jump starter. Could be wrong but worth checking - they also has the same socket.
