      Contrary to what Andre 3000 preaches in that song, you shouldn’t shake traditional Polaroids because it can warp the image. I think modern Polaroids are all good though - shake them if you want since it does nothing.

        This is just a theory since i never had a polaroid. They shake it to dry the photos out since if you touch a freshly taken polaroid photo. Its like touching wet paint. It smudges or sticks to your skin.

          @xoom: Shaking an old-school Polaroid picture causes it to warp, similar as if you touched it. Sometimes people would warp the image intentionally by shaking it quickly or you could use compressed air or even toothpicks or paintbrushes.
