I'd laugh if you're not home and then you get carded by Australia Post to go pickup your pen from the post office later

      • +2

Doordash does the deliveries so it's more likely that porch pirates steal the pens.

Just bought a $2.25 A4 frame as a test to see if this is real or just a false promise (order made 12:24pm AEST). Let's see - I'll report back!

    • It's real, I've ordered from their earlier deals and they've arrived within 2 hrs.

    • 29 minutes here. Amazing

  • I did this the other day and just thought I was lucky. Thanks for this op. I'll order some more.

    • You need to make it in 3 ZIP installments.
Maybe an armored truck will still be justified?

I know this is going to be unpopular to say but as cute as it is to have a few cents or dollars worth of order delivered for free, what a massive waste of petrol to have delivery drivers carting pens (or whatever) all over Australia because it's a novelty.

Supply chains contribute massively to climate change which we're all feeling, my air con bill has gone up so much I've taken to sweating it out more often than not than pay the costs. I'm not saying we all need to go live in zero-emission communes in the forest, but maybe a bit of conscientious thought into how all this 'stuff' ends up at our door isn't the worst idea.

I'd hope that what everyone is posting is all said in jest and are not "Stupid or childish" enough to be ordering silly cheap items just for the sake of it! In the end OW will just stop offering what looks like what could be a decent fast service!

I spent my energy building a career in environmental science, does that count?

Why is there never any nuance to this discussion, why can't it be both? Of course it's the big companies, but here's the wild thing: companies sell products and services to people who buy them. If there is no one buying, they will eventually stop selling. That doesn't make it the consumers fault, but it does mean things can change when behaviour changes. If more people buy renewable/reused/sustainable, more companies sell them and visa versa.

Yours is a knee-jerk argument that doesn't discuss the problem on any other level than "don't blame me, blame them." I guess I figured I didn't need to point out the disparity between the impacts individuals have compared to mega corps but here we are.

Edit: Also I don't disagree with the deal itself, I hope it's helpful to those that truly need the service.

Worth doing this just to give the uber drivers a little Christmas bonus!

    • +4

Step 1: sign up to Uber delivery
Step 2: order pen to be delivered next door to the store and accept your own order
      Step 3: profit
      Step 4: repeat

      • +1

        Hmmmmm. Christmas bonus time!

  • +10

I hope people don't abuse this.

Have you met people lately? They’re asses, of course the will.

Ordered and being delivered as specified. Great deal, I was actually putting off going into store to pick a click and collect order made on Black Friday. I ordered the same item at a cheaper price and it'll be delivered within 2 hours. I'll request a refund on the other order.

    • +1

Interesting what you get thats gone cheaper than BF?

      • Fitbit

  • Tried to order 100 sheet pack of paper
Doesn't qualify… Assuming because it doesn't fit in that parcel size (def close to OW)

    • +1

Order at least 3 hours before the store closes. Try tomorrow.

      • Thank u, you were right. worked and got my delivery this morning!

  • +6

Should keep the minimum - the constant delivery of tiny items is really bad for the environment

Props to them for offering the original service though.

    • But it keeps doordashers employed

      • +1

        Who cares hah

  • Can I order my print outs from this delivery service?

  • Who doesn't love free deliveries. International shipping from small volume sellers on Etsy using, say, USPS, is exorbitant now compared to 20 years ago.

  • Officeworks meeting on selling pens: CEO to Brad: "show them how it's done". Brad:

  • 2 hours and Free is great.

Still 3-4 days Free delivery with Onepass.

And still only 3k from the store. Go figure!

  • It doesn’t seem to work for me in Canberra. Can any Canberrans confirm that it works for them?

Awesome! Just bought sticky tape for $2.99, was going out to officeworks to buy it, guess I don't have too now. :)

  • +1

Likely a good way to prevent price matching

  • bought quite few cartons of printing paper, and it was delivered within 50 mins, nice deal

  • I've had no complaints - my pen is enough
