Is There Any Way to Hold or Suspend Number for around 3 Months

I need to go abroad and will not be using my phone during that.

Ok, the cheapest plan with my provider seems to be around 10-15$ and i know i can do it.

But is there any other ways just to put it in hold.
Any tricks, ways.

I just don't want to lose my number but ready to switch if needed. (as anyways I am planning with switch)

I know normal ways carriers won't allow that and will make me pay even they know I will not be using anything.
My provider says "their is no way to pause it" with them.

Any suggestions?

Move to an prepaid provider. ALDI $5 sim probably. The number will be valid for at least 90 days (however long the initial payment lasts plus a period of 60-90 days grace before the number is deactivated.

  • Churn to a Southern Phone sim on the $5 per month deal.

That is $15 for 3 months.

Amaysim is $10 for a year.

so $30-ish? How much is your overseas trip? Id pay that just to not stuff around with a churn then churn back (and the relatively low chance of any port issues in-between) to your original provider (Assuming you are happy with the original provider)

Amaysim have $10 a year prepaid sim

    • This is what I use for my spare numbers. I have people visit from overseas occasionally so I keep a couple of SIMs on the $10 annual prepaid. They can then use that and top up as required. Makes things quite convenient for casual users like this.

Telstra/Boost $2 prepaid SIM cards last about 6-7 months

  • I recharge my mother in law Aldi prepaid plan annually, but she won't be here for another year. On recent renewal I decide to delay recharging. I believe Aldi allows 60 day for this.
