      Go find one then.

You'll be yawning forever when there's no such thing as a 4TB M.2 2230 SSD. There's no QLC in this deal either.

    • No such thing, biggest is 2GB (I know I looked)

      • I believe you mean 2TB. :-)

  • Page not found on both links

    • Turn off your VPN.

      • Don't have one

        • Anything blocking/masking your location? AliExpress are specific about what regions can see what and 9/10 it's a VPN.

          • @Clear: No sir

            • +7

@Deceiver: Starlink? Otherwise I'd suggest trying mobile data.

              • @Clear: Yeah, Starlink. Never had any issues before though 🤔

                • +1

@Deceiver: Try using a VPN to an Australian server then.

I am on Clickhost NBN FFTP, both links worked fine for me.

  • Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for, good timing!

Is this an excuse to get a steam deck?

    • +2

      I legit just sold mine

Paid $650 for one brand new from Mobilciti ebay, spent another $250 on a 2tb nvme from Ali express, spent another $30 on modded grips for the buttons, spent another $50 on a spigin case, and $40 on a matte screen protector kit. Used it for a few months loved it at first modded with clover and dual boot windows and steam, tried everything I could pushed to it's limits, then I got bored and sold it few days ago for $850 in including all the things I bought for it included. If you got any questions ask me!

      • Cool thanks for that, the only thing I'm thinking is: What do I really need it for? I don't have to travel on public transport for work, I don't usually take a handheld gaming device out and about to play it.

Do you find the screen "too small" to be enjoyable? How's the performance in most popular games?

        • +3

I use mine all the time in bed, gaming on the PC is usually the last thing I want to do after work.

        • +2

I use mine way more than I thought I would - so much easier to turn it on, play a little then put it down. Makes gaming when you're time poor a bit more accessible. Performance has been great on all the big games I've tried.

        • +2

For me personally I find the screen to be a good size, it's 16:10 so 4:3 games (for things like emulation) fit nicely and 16:9 games look fine. The performance is good enough for most games, you can tell that Valve pushed the limit between performance and battery life to find the right balance.

My main use case is to play in bed or on the coach to get away from the PC and be the ultimate emulation device, especially since older games look better on a smaller screen or for games that feel better on handheld over a larger screen. Ultimately, if you can't find a strong reason to play on a Steam Deck over a different platform I would not recommend it.

        • +1

I dont travel but tend to use it at home all the time, even when I am in front of my gaming pc.

best purchase in years - though I dont play aaa games on it mainly platformers and stuff like that, though tons of people do.

I do love using it in bed or on the couch

        • I use mine on the couch whilst my wife watches TV or plays a different game, it's really handy for those smaller Gamepass titles, it's also a great way for me to get through my PS2/GC/Xbox back catalog without having to physically pull those consoles out and put discs in.

Got my main gaming PC for everything else that's too heavy to run on the SD.

Sounds like a familiar story based on the sale threads I've seen on OCAU. People tend to use them for a few months and then realise they don't want them.

        • It's so fricking massive. That's my main issue with it. It's very fatiguing to hold for long periods, and a pain to travel with due to how much room it takes up. I enjoy the idea of it, but the size is very limiting.

    • Any decent deals on the steam deck 64g? Seems most are around the $750 mark. I’d be grateful if anyone’s seen a decent deal on them

      • Maybe we'll see below $700 again soon for boxing day sales?

        • Awesome point!

        • If it's not under $630, its not a good deal.

  • I paid $75.54 in the end.

don’t do it you order this they’ll send you a burrito and there is nothing you can do

    • +4

What flavour is the burrito though?

  • Got 2 in 2 Steam Decks. Works great.

    • Why do you have 2 steam decks

      • I don't. I've just installed 2 of these in 2 steam decks.

        • Why have you installed in 2 steam decks

  • Anyone found a compact USB SSD case for these drives?

Not one that takes 2242 or 2280 as well

  • -1

Keeps wanting to charge me $89 instead of $80 after saying one or more discounts have expired. Don't trust Alibaba to hold the end of the bargain.

    • Just tried it after reading your comment, I just used AENY5. $78.61.

Just want to say, if anyone is considering doing this to the steam deck, make sure you have a decent screwdriver set and be extra careful NOT to strip the screws on the backplate. The screws in the back are extremely easy to strip and if it happens, you will have no choice but to drill it out.

The rest of the SSD replacement is easy to do, just want to warn people!

  • Will this be compatible with HP elitebook 840 G2?

  • Have they jacked up the price a bit? I have not been able to get one for USD50.95, but around USD3 more…
