Finally it came to Australia. I have used the US version for almost 1 year, and was told it will not come to Australia due to the 6E part using the frequency not allowed in Australia. So they changed the frequency or the rules changed?

    • Apart from 6E, is there anything making it stand out among all other mesh systems? Thinking in terms of reliability, flexibility, easiness of use.

For the last 2 years, I've had a simplest wirelessly daisy-chained Tenda Nova MW5c mesh and it's been pretty maintenance-free, however the last node (at the end of the chain) chokes when multiple devices are using it. I haven't tried wiring it and trying satelite config instead of daisy-chaining yet.

I'll do my reading soon too. The price stays for a week, hopefully other retailers lower it too.

  • A$535 on Google Store (change to 3-pack there), was A$699.

Looks like this is one Google mesh that people don't complain about in the comments of the previous deals: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/google-nest-wi-fi-pro

But happy to be corrected here.

  • Silly question here. Can I connect it to NBN fiber straight away?

Or do I need another router?

No additional router required, one of the mesh nodes will connect to your NBN box and act as the router.

      • thanks mate

  • Does all OW price best Costco or depends on the store/rep. Thanks

I just called and they matched with no issues for $417.99 so happy with that.

  • This or the Deco XE75

      Price difference:
Deco XE75 is selling at $799 at TGG - $503.00 TGG Commercial
      GA03690-AU from Costco - $539.99 - $439.99 at Special - $418 OW after price beat
      Technical difference:
Deco XE75 - Up to 5,400 Mbps for 200 devices
      GA03690-AU - AXE4200 – combined speeds of up to 4.2 Gbps, up to 300 devices in a three-pack network
Deco XE75 is offering 3 yr manufacturer warranty vs 2yrs from Google.

      • Deco XE75 - Up to 5,400 Mbps for 200 devices
        GA03690-AU - AXE4200 – combined speeds of up to 4.2 Gbps, up to 300 devices in a three-pack network

These specs seems neglectable for most users, right?

          Yes, you can say that.
Especially at that price point, if someone is getting the benefits of wifi 6E which should be good enough for next 5-8 years atleast for those most of the users requirements.

      • 5,400 Mbps > 4.2 Gbps a little

        • That's correct!

  • Just curious question, my house is a long ass property (about ~25m in length, with roughly 10m for backyard), single floor. Is a 2-pack mesh enough to cover my whole house from front to backyard, or I need to go with 3?

    • That largely depends on where your connection point is (mostly at the front of the house - that's worse range-wise than if it's somehow in the middle of it) and what materials are used (eg. concrete blocks a lot of the signal). Also can't tell about the range of these particular access points.

But if the two access points can see each other eg. in a hall that goes straight along the entire house, no doors, then it's a good chance it will be fine.

    • depends how much interference you have.
if you think two are good enough, you can go with relatively cheaper DECO-XE75(2-PACK) - $345.00 TGG Comm.

      • $345.00 is cheaper than $439.99, but $345.00 for two is not relatively cheaper than $439.99 for three.

Just had to point it out :)

    • Yeh the NBN NTD is in my garage, so I need one node at the front of the house to connect to NBN. Most of the walls inside the house are brick wall IIRC. Ideally, I'm thinking of one node in the garage and one node somewhere towards the end of the house, close to backyard.

If you have a wired backhaul you might be right. But without it you could expect speeds to be much slower when connected to your second point. It probably won't be a strong 6E wireless backhaul and could drop to 6, which might still be fine for you anyway. Three units will improve your speeds to your satellite, as well as for the wireless backhaul, since they'll all be closer to each other and so you won't have to worry about interference and walls as much.

Part of Google's delay in releasing 6E in Australia was because of Australia's differing and very strict wifi standards especially 6E. Google has to run its 6E transmit at a lower power/range than what it was initially built for, in order to meet Australian compliance which aims to minimise interference with neighbours. Hopefully the Australian spec improves in the future and a firmware update can then return its performance back up to what it was designed for.

        • Thanks mate, that's really insightful. So does it mean the Nest Pro Aussie edition is better than the US version? Just reading through some of the reviews and most are not very positive towards it in the US and UK.

  • Thanks heaps for posting, grabbed the pbg from officeworks, will hopefully mean my video calls stop dropping out when my wife starts streaming TV😅

  • Thanks OP, I got it yesterday and tried to connect all three nests but somehow failed on my last one… it won't let me connect the 3rd Nest Pro with an Ethernet cable… weird so I unplugged it and then Google Home app will sync' all three together… anyone else having the same problem? Within the App, it showed all three connected.. but the 3rd (without any ethernet cable connected) I keep seeing orange light flashing…….

    • Mine works fine. Perhaps factory reset the 3rd one?

  • Wish I pulled the trigger on this instead of researching. Everyone is offering it on sale at $499….
