  Not sure if it has just been my experience but don’t expect to be using it immediately to convert (to eBay at least). Mine took 24hrs, customer service are useless via email. Phone just tell you to wait.

  Understandable it’s in the t&cs but haven’t had such a long wait for other gift cards before.

  So plan accordingly.

    according to my limited experience, tcn gc takes a bit time to activate. ultimate gc gets activated pretty much immediately.

    Hit and miss. I’ve had some redeem instantly and some take until the next day. Might has have to do with the time of purchase. Maybe card activations all happen around the same time of the day?

  Went to 5 coles express in sydney northwest. Each store had plenty in stock. Most of the staff didnot know of promotion but on scan each card dropped to $45 sale price. Bought 50 cards. Limit of 5 cards in one transaction applies. If you are looking for goodguys specially then pls check the card front because not every TCN HIM card has good guys listed with logo on it. Maybe it will still work at goodguys but didnot want to take risk so i bought specifically which has goodguys written on them.also check the receipt,it should say approved against each giftcard.

    The cards I had didn’t mention good guys but swiped and worked anyways. The packaging does say a bunch of retailers “and more”.

    The source of truth for participating retailers for physical TCN gift cards is the TCN website, not the gift card packaging.

    The Good Guys was only added as a participating retailer to the TCN Him gift card in late March 2023. TCN Him gift cards had been around for a handful of years before this change, so it is highly likely the TCN Him gift cards with no The Good Guys logo on it was just older stock.

    The TCN gift card terms and conditions also makes this very clear:

    2. This Card is an eftpos prepaid gift card that can be used for electronic transactions, to purchase goods and services at participating retailers listed on The Card Network website.

    If you think about it, it means that if the TCN Him webpage one day stopped showing the The Good Guys logo, that would mean (according to the terms and conditions) that The Good Guys stopped accepting TCN Him gift cards, even ones with the The Good Guys logo on the packaging. A number of participating retailers have left the TCN gift card scheme this year (although none that are really worth noting on OzBargain), so it could happen…

  So you can't take these physical cards straight into a store (eg JB-Hifi) and use it on the spot? Not very gift friendly if that's the case.

    It depends on the participating retailer.

    The TCN website (which is linked in the table in the deal description) will tell you how each participating retailer accepts TCN Him gift cards. I just checked the TCN website and it says that JB Hi-Fi accepts TCN Him gift cards in their physical stores (which means you will need to tell the staff member you want to use a card or eftpos card, swipe it on the EFTPOS terminal, select SAV and enter the PIN on the gift card). However, this is something that could change at any time without any prior notice (i.e. JB Hi-Fi could choose to stop accepting TCN Him gift cards in their physical stores one day, or JB Hi-Fi could be removed from the TCN Him gift card entirely one day).

    Btw, you should be careful with walking into a physical store of a participating retailer with a pile of TCN Him gift cards, as you may run into unexpected issues redeeming them. For example:

    • The instore checkouts at JB Hi-Fi and The Good Guys have no known redemption limit for Visa/Mastercard/eftpos cards (including TCN gift cards and Ultimate gift cards), but staff may arbitrarily implement their own redemption limits.

    • If you turn up to a BCF physical store with 25x TCN Him gift cards to pay for a camping fridge/freezer, you will likely have problems, because BCF's checkout systems (at least in the past) would not let you redeem more than 5 Visa/Mastercard/eftpos/etc cards in one instore transaction. (Supercheap Auto had the same limitations (in the past), and I suspect rebel and Macpac also have the same limitations, as they share the same parent company as BCF and Supercheap Auto).

  My local imposed a limit of 3 lol ‘Because it’s illegal to sell you too many!’ Oh well, I thought I’d just have to hit a few tomorrow. Turned out some of the cards didn’t activate, and they couldn’t refund me for $45, only $50. So I went home with 3 of these plus $5 profit in the end.

  I have never had luck purchasing these discounted gift cards. Everytime I read them and get to the store, I can never ever find them.
  Those available are only the normal undiscounted gift cards?
  Am I missing something or just need to be among the first few ones when the stores open?

  Had to go to 3 Coles Express', to get the 12 cards needed, but JB-Hifi Darwin had no issues using all of them to purchase straight away (bar 15 min travel time)
  JB also price matched OzDigitalOnline, $200 cheaper than their advertised special.
