Anyone got a carplay headunit they like? I have a Sony XAV-AX1000 and the screen is unreadable if there's sun.

Honestly thought that wouldn't of been a thing ,I was literally just looking at that and trying to understand the difference. Seems like it’s also resistive touch screen.
Capacitive seems to start from $524 with XAVAX5500. Not sure but that one is likely to be better maybe?
You'd be better off buying from Bankstown Audio, there's a better sale there
i got the Sony AX-5500 from Autobarn's eBay store in the Black Friday sale. it was something like $499 retail then i got 10% ebay discount, $450. has the better LCD display (capacitive like a mobile phone, clear). big plus is the 2nd usb - connect phone for android auto, with other usb key for music. can also change background pic (eg, make it your car model, though it does dim the pic as standard so controls are brighter). cheaper AX-3200 unit was $380 all up at the time (though the resistive screen, bit hazy, 'gives' as you press it). tip with any of these is to use a high quality 3.1 usb cable from the unit to your phone, otherwise android auto can do weird restarts.
So if I want wireless android/iOS which model am I looking at ?
Tbh I never researched wireless as I just see a direct connection as so much more reliable. but it looks like the ax-4000 does this (resistive screen through, not as good as per OP's original query). Though is this just for music, or Android Auto / car Play (very important) as well? I do know someone with an Audi with wireless charger and they prefer to connect it as the wireless seems to get hot or something.
Autobarn eBay store currently have the AX5500 going for $499 again. There's also a further $30 reduction appearing for me.
