Hi all. found this deal while browsing.
At $99aud + shipping (from $9.90) = came to $110. 1% surcharge for Card & PayPal payments. Still cheaper than the competition at $135 but you are limited to one per transactions. I know Ubiquiti product is australia are marked up heavily by the distributor, the most i’ll accept is a 20% markup over the ubiquit official store. I justify it in my head as ‘you’re paying for the australian consumer warranty’, officially it says one yeah but the ACCC says it’s more because of the type of product this is. the original MSRP of $79usd, i’d say $110aud is pretty much on point and is worth it.
also the free shipping discount codes don’t work on this product; BOXINGDAFS24 and BOXINGDAFS25.
also they seem to be selling the new Ubiquiti G5 Flex at 20% off the rest of the competition at $215 (free shipping works on this one).

    Yes, you need a Unifi OS controller with Protect installed to make it work. You don't nee Ubiquiti hardware to run it, you can run it off an old PC, Pi or in a container (and you will also need a PoE switch to power it as someone mentioned below)

  I bought one without knowing about the Unifi software requirement, so I ended up getting a PoE injector and just running it as a RTSP camera.

  You do you, but they are of course including 10% GST, shipping costs and then ya know… Some money to pay the rent and pay wages. Don't blame them for marking it up a bit, so that you can have local warranty and shorter shipping times.
