  • Cheaper elsewhere?

    • The Good guys are doing $185 for one, better if you aren’t in QLD, delivery cost interstate is bonkers

Using these as surrounds with an Arc and 2 x gen 3 subs. Pretty impressive theater system and these work amazing as surrounds.

    • +1

Thanks! I was just going to ask this - wanting to get the arc but was unsure on whether to get these or era 100s which are much pricier

  • How are these as standalone speakers for a bedroom? Want to use with my room projector.

    • +1

These don’t have line in or Bluetooth as they are purely wifi controlled by Sonos App or Airplay speakers, but I think they are incredibly good. I can only think this would work with a projector if you are playing from a MacBook or iPad with the speakers selected as the audio output through Airplay, but you have to put them into a Stereo pair in the Sonos app first to get them to play together or you could put each speaker in different rooms unpaired. The newest generation Era 100 and Era 300 have line in.

Cheaper to buy 2 singles for $188 each = $376

A little cheaper elsewhere anyway, eg TGG $185, HN $184

Seems a good price! Very similar to two Ikea Symfonisk

    • This is definitely a better deal over first hand symphonix for a Small price difference.

    • i've had a symphonisk for nearly 3 years now - was thinking of getting 'proper' sonos speakers like these ones to replace it - would you say audio quality is similar?

looks like it's possibly better even:
      https://www.rtings.com/speaker/tools/compare/sonos-one-sl-vs…

      • Definitely better for a small price difference over the IKEAs.

        • Totally agree, I borrowed a friends Symphonisk bookshelfs to do a back to back comparison in my specific room setting

If looking at both speakers at their usual RRP then the IKEA one's do a great job but with the One's on sale they don't compare

I got my pair of one's during the Black Friday sales this year and glad I did as really adds to the immersion (using a Beam Gen 2)

  • Do these each require a powerpoint, or battery? Would like to pick them up.

    • Yes.

They are powered by power point

      Powerpoint

if you want battery powered equivalent. I would buy 2x Zicoroop Ts for around $210 shipped on Amazon.com.
      https://www.amazon.com/ZICOROOP-Bluetooth-Speakers-Waterproo…

I don't know if you can apply the 20% coupon to two of them (another extra 5% off code is there as well if you buy 2). but even if you can't still way better bang for buck and actually portable. you could even say superior to medium to large sized bluetooth speakers because it's an easier shape to carry and has true wide stereo sound because they are separate.

and before you think these are poor quality. yes they are a chinese company but teardown shows quality design, clean soldering and insulation, neodymium magnet speaker drivers and 8000mAh battery inside each speaker as claimed. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hAfUPwhnD4A

also the Zicoroops have a large passive radiator on the back which the Sonos One does not have. so I am pretty sure it will hit harder and louder in the bass. the only real negative of the speaker is the RGB needs to be turned off everytime you power on. if you like RGB then that isn't an issue.

      • Very good reviews on Amazon. Thanks for suggesting this alternative. 100w on a pair. Wish it could just be powered by AC instead of batteries though.

        • sorry forgot to mention above. I meant to say "the Zicoroop are a bluetooth only option" but hopefully that was obvious because they are portable and battery powered (WiFi consumes way too much energy for portable).

While Sonos One is a WiFi only speaker and doesn't support bluetooth connection for music.

"Wish it could just be powered by AC instead of batteries though."

yeah I was responding to pharcyde who wanted something portable with batteries.

          • @harshbdmmaster718: Understood. For those wanting sonos as stereo or home theatre, this is very good deal and is powered.

      • Yeah but you can’t use this with a Sonia sound bar?

  • These with an arc for rears? The or the 100s?

    • Depends on your room size and set-up and if the need for upfiring Atmos speakers at the rear is essential for you

I recently watched No One Will Save You and the One's did a great job with the alien's steps and the like coming through really well from behind and what felt like beside me at times

Obviously the 100's would do a better job with sounds above but for myself I'm content with what the One's have added

      • Thanks for the reply but I’m fairly sure the 100s do not contain any upward firing speakers or ATMOS sound.

The 300s do but the price is insane for rear speakers and I have read that they are overpowered if used as rears only and apparently if used for music deactivate the front speakers.

Sonos really should have made a 200 series speaker with the footprint of the 100s but atmos built in.
