Marketing budget must be tight for Econnex to need to spam OzBargain every other week.

Neg for all the previous deals where a large portion of people who signed up did not get paid sign-up bonuses, or get cashback approved from SB and CR (because of Econnex not paying their cashback partners).

It's basically a running joke at this stage.

Their commission incentives have to be crazy for how often I see econnex deals posted.

      • Seems like a good thing for us💰
Similar in all cashback type Deals. We only get a part of the incentive.

Energy retailers probably have the most cash to throw around - they've got the most profits to gain from new customers!

Have received so many Woolies Gift Cards in these Deals over years. Usually switch every ~2 months, for the incentive.

Like PowerShop customer service, but this Deal is not available where I am😢

    • Like you, most people neg to warn that others have negged, not that they had any problem themselves.

Some negs link to another neg comment warning others have not received their gift card.. And so on!

And many neg votes have been posted by the same people across many Deals - just as a warning others have negged…

Which magnifies the small number of real negs!

So simple stats don't tell the actual picture!

Some who had an issue, had the problem fixed by Rep, but left the neg up! (Not found the gift cards in Econnex but was in Woolies email, or was in spam, etc).

Better to contact the Rep to resolve any issues.

I've always received the gift cards. Others have similarly posted a personal positive experience - but thats ignored & often negged!

Scam. Only few people will get the gc.

People say they didn't receive their gift cards from Econnex…
But the gift cards are sent by Woolies! They looked in the wrong email!

I've repeatedly commented about that. Suggested Econnex send an email to warn when the gift cards are on the way.

Others don't provide their personal details as shown in the energy bill - so can't switch retailer by law, but complain!

Contacting the Rep has helped the few who complain.

Agreed amount of grief and chasing up this company not worth the trouble

In 2 years of using Econnex for switching electricity retailers about every 2 months - always received the promised gift cards without any follow up!

People think Econnex didn't send the gift cards. Because Woolies send them in tbeir email!

Its now so accepted here to neg when you have had no problem & neg those who had many positive & profitable experiences with Econnex.

      • Lot of wrong assumptions here which didn’t apply to my situation. Just look at other ob feedback over time should be more than enough to raise alarm bells

        I stand by my comment.

Well outline your problem here with your failed Econnex energy Deal.
Would be more helpful than most neg comments!

What was your grief chasing up this company?
          What did the Rep say?
That's what the Rep is for. Has answered & resolved complaints about missing gift cards in Deals.

When I PMed the Rep (in next posted Deal), got a PM within few minutes. Had been looking for the gift cards in an Econnex email. Rep pointed out it's in the Woolies email.

Lot of wrong assumptions here which didn’t apply to my situation.

You never said it was your personal experience. And so little to go on!
Please explain so we all can understand. To avoid issues, but receive the benefits of the gift cards!

Most neg comments are not from people who ever took up these energy switch offers!

Was stating general reasons why people may neg when they didn't find their gift cards. That's why I commented - to warn others where to find their gift cards.

    • Hey Captain Hindsight, kindly share your reference number to track your application and check why have you not received the gift card.

In my personal experience, I switched over and got the promised vouchers, I had my doubts but it did work. Nov 2023 Simply Energy still in the pipelines so will need to check my email carefully Mar 2024.

One suggestion though, if the rep could please consider issuing vouchers with 6 months validity rather than 3 months? Given they are sent out with 3-4 months delay, it's a little strange they expire in 3 months comparatively, I personally have to set reminders to look for them at 4 months after sign up. Also advise up front what email address to put in safe senders, acknowledge in the confirmation email when the person joined an eligible offer, send a courtesy email after Woolworth issued the vouchers etc would help the customer experience significantly.

    • The 3 month restriction is set by Woolworths. These commercial gift cards are sold for promotions to businesses. Assume sold at a discounted price, based on restrictions of use.
As such the unlimited time we get when buying gift cards doesn't apply.

Never had a problem spending my gift cards within 3 months. Set reminders (as you do) & use ASAP.

Like with most cashback type Deals, there is often a long time between taking up the offer & the promised reward received. It takes months for the retailer to confirm - you've stuck around for the required time, then forward payment to Econnex. Then for Econnex to process it & send to us - ordered from Woolworths.

Econnex communication is definitely poor! There is a NO feedback that our signup has been tracked😜 Unlike other cashback sites.
I've negged them for poor & confusing details when they first started. It did improve.

send a courtesy email after Woolworth issued the vouchers etc would help the customer experience significantly.

I agree. Already recommended that to Econnex to send when their system orders the gift cards.

As people search Econnex emails for vouchers, instead of Woolies, think they didn't receive their gift card. Possibly binning the Woolies gift card email!

Rep said they passed the suggestion on to the team… few months ago.

      • Hi Rather be Travelling, thanks for your feedback and for using Econnex. Please stay tuned for more offers and improvements on the Econnex platform. Thanks. - Manyo

  • Anyone know if you get this on top of the $150 energy credit from Powershop?

      • hi, just want to confirm we can switch to this offer if already switched with Econnex in the last 60 days. thanks

  • Just signed up electricity plan via shopback econnex yesterday.
Anyone know if I'm still eligible signing up for gas?

Deal was updated to include my location👍 (Confirmed in application to Switch - took screen shot)
From memory, best Econnex Deal for me.
Signed up for $150 gift cards + $150 electricity credit. Will stay ~60+d. Then look for next Deal.

Received all gift cards in many Econnex Deals.
Effectively paid $0 for electricity (no solar or gas) in about 3 years🎉

Found Powershop customer service prompt, friendly & helpful in past. Happy to be returning. Based in NZ. Kia Ora!

    • How about the supply charges? I found them expensive.

      • +1

Supply charges can't be avoided, so should be considered, along with rates. Often a balancing act - consider your usage.

Many things to consider in electricity pricing.
Depends on your location, your energy use, & what other retailers are offering in your area.
Gets more complex when take into account Solar FIT (not in my case) or Demand (time of day) usage surcharges for some retailers.

Used to use a spreadsheet to help make these decisions. Don't even look at the rates anymore!

As I usually switch electricity retailers every 2 months, it makes little difference for me.

Whereas the incentives to switch pay for my electricity bills each year.
State Govt rebates ($550 or $700/yr) are pure profit for me💰

        • Yeah thank you for the detailed response. Especially their solar FiT is very low. I will follow your suggestion and change energy retailer every 3 months ;)

  • I was delayed by a few hours and ended up missing out on this deal
