Can you bring back the Samsung NP350V5C deal for $577.80? I bet there will be lots of +ve, maybe you can even negotiate such a deal with supplier with such amount of sales from ozbargain?

    • Slightly off topic, I picked one of these up for 577.80 and now want to do the RAM upgrade. MSY doesn't seem to have any Hynix in stock in NSW nor have they for about the last week or two.

Does anyone have any experience with using the Kingston 4GB 1600 DDR3 that they also sell in the Samsung?

Make sure you are buying the right type of ram:
        1) dimm for desktops or so-dimm for laptops as they are different physical sizes
        3) ddr2 or ddr3.

If you get that right, almost all ram is compatible with all machines. Eg: makes no difference if its kingston, hynix, 1600 or 1866 or whatever. A lot of ram is the same stuff, simply rebranded or verified for higher speeds.

That's a greatly simplified view. There are exceptions and quirks: some desktops require so-dimms/ecc/registered ram, some laptops can't be opened or have ram irremovably soldered on, etc.

It's very occasionally that ram isn't compatible when it should be (has only happened to me once).

        • Thanks for the explanation however I was really looking to see if anyone had experienced an exception or quirk with the Kingston ram :-)

  • Will definitely get it if it is eligible for $59 cashback!

  • Very similar spec'd different model Acer i3 was $287 few months ago. Wouldn't pay $449 for an i3.
