Breville The Original 74 Sandwich Maker $95 ($0 C&C/in-Store) @ Retravision | $102 Delivered @ Amazon AU

180

Not the best deal ever but i've wanted one of these for a while.

If you don't have Retravision near by, I did the feedback / found lower price thing on Amazon and they reduced their price to $102, which is better than Retravision if you need delivery.

  • Picked one up from Good Guys just yesterday… works a treat, brings back great memories from when i was a kid

    • Memories.. like burning the fek out of my cheek on numerous occasions.

      • +1

That's your fault for sitting on it.

  • MMMMM, I love me a Sandiwch

  • Have the other breville model (costs less than half this, around $40) and it’s sensational. Not sure how much better it could get to warrant an extra $50

    • Unsure which model you might have, but if it is the one I’m thinking of. This one has less plastic parts that can break. So you can overstuff or use chunky bread. Both are pretty good though.

  • Have one and its the best.

  • +1

Is this worth the price premium over the K-Mart and Aldi ones?

    • +1

Probably not… definitely better build quality thou… comes with a 3yr warranty too and looks like is out of the 70's with the polished and brushed stainless

      • Okay, thanks. Yeah, the Breville looks beautiful.

    • Yes, it is. I have the Kmart one now and previously had Breville One (plastic one, not this one). Kmart one doesn’t seal the sandwich and is a nightmare to clean. Breville used to seal the sandwich nicely and was easier to clean. Some days I just think of throwing the Kmart one in the bin to buy Breville again but then my Ozbargain spirit wakes up which makes me want to wait until the Kmart one dies. I will be happy the day Kmart one dies.

      • I’m in the same boat. I have both the K-Mart and Aldi ones and am way for them to die, but they’re indestructible! 🤣 I’ll replace it with the Breville one (if they’re still making it in a decade!)

  • I'm fine with 2 sandwiches thanks

  • See these bad boys pop up secondhand for $50 mark in the richer suburbs of Sydney every so often.

  • This one takes way too long to toast unfortunately. Can’t recommend

    • Yeah im with you here - takes a long time to toast, like at least 5 mins, also needs a big slice of bread like bigger than your normal supermarket brands

      • 5 minutes is too long?

        • Yeah, and thats to like get white bread with a very light toast, you need the extra time to help seal the edges too, which can be a problem with the size of modern slices.

My other flat toasted sanga maker is heaps quicker :)

I still like the sambo's from the 74, but it is a pain and probably wouldnt get again.

      • I don't agree, I just made these (while preheated) within 4 minutes also using Country Split Wholemeal which is smaller than most bread

        • Like wise i agree nosytt ….. after the preheat… 3 Minutes cook time and they are done … Left over lamb roast and cheese with gravy… yummo

  • Great been meaning to buy this one for a while. Got another 5% off with RAC membership.
