    Scorptec 🤮🤮🤮

    • Yeah maybe price error once again …

      • maybe theyll need to hold onto my money for 7 days for "processing" despite not delivering the good or intending to send it

yep, so they got more cash to celebrate NY24!
And paying almost $1.5K for such a low quality build thing with 4060 is not a deal at all, better stick with Lenovo!

  • Have found the 8gb Ram version much cheaper on other websites.

Why not buy the much cheaper one and upgrade the RAM to 16GB like this one since it's much cheaper?

  • I'd much prefer Ryzen for battery life.

    • I have the Ryzen variant of this model and it does not help… Gaming laptops are used plugged in or expect a couple hours of use after decent usage. In saying that its been one solid machine with abuse and still standing fine.

I use my laptop for 4k gaming (lid closed so it gets real hot on the screen panel) and have not had any issues which is surprising

  • Another out of stock and reimbursement topic…..

Low end gigabyte is a lot worse than a 2023 tuf, plus the quite higher pricetag, I wouldnt worry about it going oos anytime soon but neither would recommend it.

As with other budget gaming lineups at this price aka msi and nitro v (not nitro 5, which is significantly better nowadays, despite the reputation), this thing is gimped in a lot of places.

These low end ‘gigabyte’ - actually rebranded ultra low end clevo - models have below average build quality (because, unlike say, metabox, which does the assembly and QA in small custom orders here in Australia, these are mass manufactured in China), bad cooling - and as a result, performance (75w on this 4060), of course, there is also that 45% ntsc shoddy screen we all know and love.

Got downvoted in a nitro v post last time, but as always, I would always recommend the $15X9 Lenovo LOQ 7640HS/QHD165hz/4050 deal plus an upsized cashback - makes 1.2-1.3k for a much better reviewed and well rounded budget unit (and for those that concerned with 4050 on a qhd panel, lets just say you can always turn down settings and use upscaling tech, and still enjoy that crispiness, fast response time and gsync support on a good screen

Remember, every cent you saved on these budget rigs here, will be that $$$ you need to spend on an early upgrade when this fails early.

    • I actually remember your post on the other Gigabyte thread. I actually bought that deal but that order got lost by Officeworks, so I ended up getting a brand new higher specced gaming Lenovo with better RAM and GPU partly based on the reviews and your advice against Gigabyte.

The Lenovo died yesterday after two months. Just won't boot, lights turn on but nothing works. The irony? I needed a new Laptop to replace my old Gigabyte G5 that had finally died after 10 years, and I went Lenovo because they are meant to be good quality.

According to the rep, the 'device won't POST' and they think it's hardware failure, they don't know where or what failed; they need to take it in. It had barely been used. I'd barely set it up and I'd only installed one game. Not only that, it was a b-ass to troubleshoot anything on the Lenovo as it does not prioritize USBs in boot order and it hid BIOS commands on boot up. Not that I could access the BIOS anyway due to the black screen of death, but I couldn't even run Slax or Mint to see what was happening and get my files off the damn thing. They absolutely do not want the consumer to do anything any more, the whole chassis was closed up tighter than Fort Knox. Not that I was going to open it anyway or it would have voided the warranty, but I was considering upgrading it eventually and there was absolutely no easy way to do that.

I have had a lot of brand of computers over the years. I have a Dell 1720 from 2007 that still works! I have never had a computer have massive hardware failure in TWO months after barely being used like the Lenovo did. I had no indication anything was failing, either, no BSODs or anything— here one day, gone the next. Even the worst brand I've bought (Acer) worked for years before packing it in. Looking it up the Black Screen of Death seems like something both Lenovo and Asus seem to be getting lately.

      Two months.

My point isn't to shit on Lenovo, but it is to say that you just don't know with PC and Laptops, especially nowadays, where everyone is cost-cutting, and trying to use the cheapest crap possible. All brands have issues and can fail and Lenovo is no exception just because it is a bigger company with 'better reviews.' — which kind of meaningless as all their glowing reviews are mostly on their site.

      "When this fails early."

Yeah okay. As shit as Gigabyte is— it lasted 10 years with no issues, ran great, a breeze to upgrade the HDD, take the ram out, etc. I replaced the battery after 5 years. I even spilled water on the Gigabyte once and it still ran like a champ. Overall the Gigabyte was miles above the Lenovo, in that it actually worked well for 10 years. Yeah it got hot on high-end games, but even with the heat issues it never overheated. The Lenovo got similarly hot.

So like, "much better reviewed and well budget…." It's really the luck of the draw. So let people buy what they want to buy. I wasn't impressed with the Lenovo chassis personally, it was as shit as my Gigabyte.

I personally think Lenovo can be as hit and miss as MSI or Gigabyte with parts nowdays and pushing Lenovo over both MSI and GB by claiming 'when they fail early!!!' like it's a straight-up-fact kind of makes you look like a shill to me. Sorry. Maybe that's why you were initially downvoted.

Honestly, the only good thing about Lenovo is their customer service was pretty good and they gave me a return authorisation without any hassle almost immediately. I've already been refunded as the purchase was so new and the major fault was so clear. But their hardware is as bad as anyone else imo and I certainly wouldn't claim they are miles above Gigabyte or MSI. At all.

      • Thanks so much for your absolutely so detailed feedback, I am still deciding what to get for my next laptop, now Lenovo quality is a bit worrying after what happened to you, sorry for your painful experience, maybe I should just stick with my 11 yr old macbook pro lol, too scare to switch back to a gaming laptop and end up with something not even last for 3 months …

        • Kaikor, I think I've been pretty clear every time. Just check out the reviews – you don't have to take my word for it.

Look, every brand has its duds, even the best ones. But when the LOQ consistently gets better reviews, it's a safe bet for most people. I mean, even new Macs aren't immune to issues - theres always some folks who drew the short end of the stick.

The thing is, reviews give you a sense of what the average user can expect. It's not really smart to fixate on the outliers, whether they're amazingly good or bad. And about your Mac, that's kind of an exception too. Most Intel Macs from 11 years ago are either dead or have swollen batteries by now.

      • Can I just say that I'm sorry to hear about your experience with the LOQ, especially as it's a model I often recommended.

However, you do have to see that the Gigabyte brand has undergone significant changes over time. The quality and design of their older models differ substantially from their current offerings. While I understand that you clearly had an issue with that LOQ, comparing an older Gigabyte laptop to their recent models is just stupid. Again, the G5 nowadays, is a lowest of the lows Clevo chassis and doesn't reflect Gigabyte's previous standards for its literally not built by them.

You clearly got a lemon, and I hope you can get a refund or an exchange somehow. But I still stand my ground,This gigabyte here is objectively trash. When the LOQ is universally reviewed as the better machine, for most people, it will be the better choice.

    • Thats not true. I have one of these and use it mostly as i travel but back in Aus i use it with my 4k monitor and it goes through abuse… It will get hot real hot since i use mine for 4k gaming with the lid shut and even under all that stress this laptop has been one of the better lasting ones
