Damn I've thought about a new setup for a while now.
$43.20 for an 8.5" deck that will last a few months at most, but includes great trucks, decent hardware and wheels, and shitty bearings. Great deal.
    Thanks for posting!!

    • +1

How hard do you ride!? The board I use a few times a year has lasted me 15 years! Granted I did snap several decks when younger, one on the day I bought it lol. Although it helps massively if you know where to position feet and now I’m not trying to olly everything 😂

      • +1

One deck got ground down on bad concrete (razortail) and nose slides on a curb.
One deck had heat stress from it living in a car in QLD summer for 3 months in the sun every other day (not making that mistake again). Delaminated completely after a fast rebound with the nose against a wall.

Next two had the tails stomped off from terrible foot positioning on landing 🤣
Tldr: Blame the rider, not the manufacturer.

        • Haha nice one! Most of my breaks we’re due to my front foot being too much in the middle of the deck when landing ollies. A ground down tail can be sharp and nasty! The cruiser I ordered should hopefully last ages as I’ll only really use it to… cruise. Never owned a non trick skateboard.

  • Wow! They are awesome prices! Great find!

  • +7

Do I need one? No. Will it look good on my wall? Yes.

  • I really should put the laptop away before I end up with a longboard on order - has been a while since I've been on a board, so could be a dicey way to start 2024! Heh.

PS. What's the pick of the longboards? Prob the 38" or 40"? I think there's only a few longboards to choose from.

    • That one with the blue wheels is a bargain. If I didn't already have a globe Longboard I bought years ago I'd grab it in a heartbeat

      Great deal as well.

Only question is what is the best setup? Would imagine both deals would be pretty comparable but I know nothing about skateboarding other than the 2hrs of YouTube videos of how to skateboard I watched after buying 2 of the globe boards.

      • +4

The Globe completes have Tensor trucks, which are a decent brand name truck, while the Element ones are generics. So i'd say the Globe are better value for that reason.

The Tensor hollows like on the G2 complete are probably better value again over the standard alloys on the G1.

        • Can confirm that the tensor hollows are fantastic compared to the Goodstock or G1 standard alloys. Much lighter and still no problems with grinds.

Come to me with this kind deals.

Be the change you want to see.

Good very good! Penny pincher and grave digger trolls with $3K eppils/semsangs phones, $@#$%^K single exhaust pipe bikes and tv/camera/ssd makers' 5th-tier SBs working hard again, for sure cheap and good deals like this would scratch their pincher-digger charismas!

  • Not bad at all, nice find.

  • Nice deal, Globe boards are great! I like their skate shoes too.

  • +3

    G1 at $33.6 is a steal

Got one of my kid… (inner me)

  • +1

Thanks OP, Grabbed 3 Boards. my son has been nagging me to skate with him, now there's no excuses

  • Awesome deal! Picked up a cruiser for $57, amazing! Always wanted to try a cruiser or longboard, with this price i couldn’t resist. Will be much nicer for riding around with the kids vs my old skateboard.

  • Would one of these globe boards (or any of the other boards) be appropriate for my weight and height? For reference, I'm 6"4 and 120kg.

    • Try googling of course but I expect they’d be fine. Decks will never snap if you have your feet over the trucks and the deck is the only real weak point.

    • +1

Not brand specific. The bigger you are, the bigger your feet are, so get a wider board. 8+ inches.

    • +1

Probably just the Longboard lol. I'm 6'5, 110k and I'm fine on my globe Longboard.

    • If you're getting a street deck, get the 8.5" or larger.
Longboards I'm less familiar with but the 9.5"-10" "cruiser" boards are built like a tank

  • +1

Cheers, got the egg, purely because of the graphics.
See how these bad boys, seems to be the trend these days!
P.s. also sad that TP deal above overtook this one😅

  • Can someone recommend me a good beginner board from the link? I’ve had a penny board for awhile when I was younger but didn’t really use it much. Not really interested in any tricks, just cruising around the neighbourhood.

    • Consider cruiserboards or longboards, i would go with
      This
      Or
      This.
I am really enjoying longboarding these days - softer wheels make it more enjoyable to just cruize.

But I grabbed an egg shape board, which are becoming popular now and are fun to ride. It is also a bit wider, which is makes it less intimidating if you want a traditional skateboard

      • The ones you have suggested (cruiser / longboards)… Need to note that they are heavy as F and so not very portable compared to a tiny penny board - and much more comfortable, much faster.

BTW the egg shape board… Is that 'comfortable' like the other boards you've posted? - with soft wheels? If not, you can just swap them out right?

        • What about this one?

          • @0li: Well, my reference for comparison is my Aldi one (https://offers.kd2.org/en/au/aldi/plrJ/), which has been my daily for at least a year (until I stopped)… and look at it, it's tiny and light and easy to carry. Maybe it's made for kids, I have no idea, I've been using it for myself lmao. Also my mate's cruiserboards, which are monstrous in comparison in size, is comparably heavy as F and definitely something I would not want to carry around… and the one yo'uve linked looks similar.

Having said that though, they are waaaaay more comfortable, like 100 times more, and soooo much easier to cruise around in / less energy needed overall to get from A to B, because they just glide. (But are also much harder to stop).

            • @ram4ram: Thanks for your feedback
I haven’t done skateboarding before but read that longboard are great for beginners
I was even looking at Kmart one

        • Any way to tell on this global site what weight the boards are? Can't seem to find that info

        • +1

I find weight is not a big issue as you might get used to it ( I got used to my 10kg eLongboard), all these boards are easy to carry with one hand.

Egg shape is not gonna be as comfy as longboards, but yes, you can swap for slightly larger wheels with softer compound, but I heard egg boards are really good with tiny wheels.

          • @HungryRussian: Thanks that's helpful. Any thoughts on this one?

It's bamboo coated as opposed to resin and slightly shorter in length with no kicktail (harder to carve?), would there be much difference to the 2 that you've recommended (of which I'm leaving towards the pintail even though might be heavier and design is not the most appealing…)?

            • +1

@donamique: No worries. I would go with a bamboo any day, as it flexes and helps with carving. This one is bamboo/maple, so not sure if it flexes much, also its a bit shorter. Though it has largest wheels(75mm) which is the best. Fantastic compact comfy option! Now I want it too

            • +1

@donamique: You dont need kicktail for carving, but both boards have it. I suggest you soften trucks for more carve if you want, at the cost of stability at higher speeds.
I got pintail myself this morning

              • @HungryRussian: Damnit you convinced me…I had the pintail in the cart ready to pay and then swapped to the bamboo cruiser-longboard and have paid… The wheelbase is shorter (22.25 inch vs 26.75)…now I'm wondering if 22.25 inch is not enough for stable riding even though the wheels are larger?

I had a skateboard when in LA but everyone had a longboard and they were so much more comfier, longboards were so common on campus.

              • @HungryRussian: Never mind, realised the wheelbase is a function of the length of the board itself anyway, since it's a 36 inch length board vs 40 inch, makes sense the wheelbase shrinks by 4.5 inches

                Thanks heaps for the advice!

                • +2

@donamique: No worries, hope you enjoy it. Both are great and comfy options and 36" with larger wheels might roll longer. Glad i could help!
Considee getting yourself a pair of slip on knee/elbow pads, cheap marine gloves from ebay and a helmet - it is way more fun to keep on riding daily instead of been buggered by bruises, minor scratches/etc. I also recommend cheap motorcycle jeans with integrated kneepads from aliexpress. Cheers

                  • @HungryRussian: Thanks for your insight, I've also picked up a longboard. Looking forward to getting back into it!

  • +1

Thanks OP. Grabbed 3 boards for the kids. $105 all up. What a steal.

    • Which one you've got for kids?

  • Where do people skate nowadays?

Back in my days… yeah they were everywhere.

    • Yeah they're cheaper now too

    • Skate at home with a phone? ;)

  • +4

    Awesome deal thanks OP.

Good thing I've got top hospital cover.

  • Great deal, picked up a Blazer XL for $69.60

  • +1

Which board/longboard would be easiest for a beginner (5'8" 70kg)?

  • +4

Define impulse buy. I'm 40 and bought a skateboard for me and my little boy, thinking that somehow, I'll be back to doing Ollie's over a milk crate like it was 98.
Hahaha can't wait to nail myself trying to roll on a flat

    • +6

Next OzB post needs to be a helmet and complete pad protection set.

Good luck, keep your knees bent and weight low, and don't accidentally manual down the drop-in.

  • +1

Any good deals on safety gear currently?
Need helmet and pads set wrist guard and gloves

  • Are helmets compulsory in NSW to ride these?

  • Has anyone received their skateboard yet? Apparently mine was 'lost' by Startrack so I guess I'm out of luck.

    • got mine today. Arcadia 36".

      • Good you got it, thought there might have been some funny business going on as it didnt even get scanned into startrack. Globe offered a refund (which i took) or something else the equivalent of what i paid ($80.. which is usless now as there is nothing left). Oh well next time i guess
