  • Probably answered elsewhere, but what is GeForce Now exactly? Is it like Xbox Game Pass with a selection of games available, or something completely different?

Yeah, it’s cloud gaming but a bit different to Xbox game pass. You link your Steam/Epic account (and a couple of others) and your games are just there ready to play. You need to already have the game on Steam etc. They don’t have all games, not sure how many they’re up to, def over 1000. You can search on the link I added in my post.

It works pretty well but it’s not perfect. You’re basically streaming a video from the virtual gaming rig so you need good internet with low pings (my NBN works well). Very small amount of lag, it’s pretty amazing how well they’ve optimised it, but it’s not perfect, it’ll never be as good as a $4k PC.

On the Ultra plan you get an RTX 3080 GPU so the games will render nicely in 4K 60, but not all games will support this. And your PC needs to be able to stream 4K so it needs some kind of GPU. Otherwise they still play well at 2K.

It uses about 10GB an hour, so you’ll easily use 1TB of downloads a month. It doesn’t work well on wifi because wifi increases lag - use an Ethernet cable to your router for best performance. And if you have a mesh network or wifi repeaters it’s even worse. And they say any PC will work but that’s not true, I found old laptops just can’t decode that much video data fast enough but it’s still mostly playable.
