I found a great deal on a Seiko's watch at SHIELS. They already have a VIP offer for $150 off $500, which I saw on other forum post. I searched online and found a code that gives the same discount. The best part is that you can use the code on gift cards, and it seems to work multiple times.

I bought a gift card worth $637.50 for only $487.50 with the code. Then I used the same code to order the watch, which was $787.50 before the discount. So I paid $487.50 for a watch that was originally $787.50. That's amazing!

PS: Make Sure you use different email to first Buy your GC and then your watch order. Also, make sure to use the Online Delivery option on the GC page.

You can use the code on their website across all products. There is also another code from Nine coupons that gives you $60 off 250$: VHS6RV0VFV060. This code can be used for cart value below 500$ and then stacked with the gift cards.

      Yeah. True mate. If they couldn’t honour their own F-ups should expect the least from customers for their business.
      Not that Shiels pricing was the best but this deal just gave an extra approx 20% overall discount than the competition.

        Thanks for the effort PG. Agreed. I'd be surprised if there was not still some margin on purchases using both "discounts". Eg. SSC813P at $487. At the same time, Watch Depot listed SSC813P for $630, $610 with sign up. The VIP sale would be less about another 20% (at $487). Unless supply was the issue. Anyway, that model is overpriced at $610 (solar/quart/cased in China) IMHO. I'll buy something else, or save for a Speedmaster 38mm to sit beside my old "reduced".

    Couldn't really expect anything different for an error that will also require a lot of cleanup effort. No doubt will still be some cracking deals in the future with the VIP vouchers and probably more Ozbargainers signed up to benefit from them too.

    Shame the giftcard exclusion wasn't also stated on the Nine listing & perhaps Shiels had also provided or vetted the stated terms

          To be Honest, I did a quick search on Google and the first thing I found out was an Ad showing the discounted Gift card with “Save10” coupon to be used. This confirmed that could use coupon to buy voucher and it got me looking further. Then I spiraled down to finding extra coupons and a post from rosebank for 150$ off and then the nine coupon. I knew straight away then that I could double dip and even if the 150$ could be used once.. I would have used the save10 for 10%.

    Managed to get mine done night of the 1st - ended using wife's device/emails/cards, not sure why mine wouldn't work.
    Picked up Seiko Panda at closest Shiels yesterday around midday, sales rep didn't mention a thing, seems pretty lucky given all the cancellations, will wait and see what happens with the cashback

    Received the cancellation email. At least they are refunding GCs too so we aren’t all just stuck with a shiels gift card. Noted to click and collect next time a deal like this from a scumbag retailer seems too good to be true…

      The fact that google showed me I can buy gift card with discount coupon meant it was never addressed by the business and would have been a loophole all this while. I didn't see any T&C for "cannot apply coupon on GC" because their VIP offer was meant be used Sitewide and call it BS. They've now realised it and now scrambling to undo it apparently at the cost of major business cause I would have never bought it from them anyway.

      At this stage, I'd even let it go and would just assume it never happened once I get my money back but would keep it in mind same as others here to never shop from there.

    I reached out to them today and got this response..

    We can advise you, that this order has been cancelled.
    These funds will be refunded back to your original payment method used to purchase your Gift card.

    The email does say orders placed with gift cards and gift cards will be refunded

    So hopefully I get my money back for the gift card

    Current value of gift card still showing as $0

    Have been on the phone with head office. They are refunding the payment methods used to purchase the initial gift cards. Any additional payment made in making your watch order will be refunded separately to that payment method. Apparently hundreds of orders cancelled.

    Sheils has dealt with this distastefully compared to other retailers in siliarlar circumstances so couldn't be bothered arguing the point.

    Talk about a lost opportunity with hundreds of customers.

    Just got notification from AfterPay that my gift card purchase has been refunded.
    Goodbye Shiels. It's been intense.

    And the follow up email from Shiels: "Order #SH000F-RIGHTOFF was cancelled because your payment was declined."
    Classy till the end!

    My friends and I used to see Albert Bensimon (the owner of Shiels and now all these other companies) out on the dance floor in Adelaide nightclubs off his chops. He used to be cool. Now, because of this deal, I think he sucks. He should have honoured this deal. Let’s all give him a 1 star on product review, someone posted the link above.
