I bought this in a recent deal. Pretty tasty, although I found that 1.2 kilos of meat/potatoes were a bit too much for a pack. Dialled it back to 1kg. Oh, and I added more chilli to mine - but for most people this should be plenty spicy enough.

They're matching Woolworths at $3, so if you have WW gift cards/phone/insurance, you might want to grab them there if you're in store.

Jesus - I tried the rendang and it almost blew my lid off!!!!

If spicy isn't your thing, then just use half the packet of paste for 1kg of Meat & veg/potato.

You'll still get the same tasting curry at the end, just with half the spice level.

Laughed so hard at this. Same thing happened to me, I love hot food and this destroyed me, must have done it wrong cause I was watering every mouthful.

I add onions and red capsicum to mine, it eases the burn a bit, still plenty of flavour.

You can also add an extra cup or two worth of coconut milk to reduce the heat level as well, then just cook it down a bit longer to get the exact same consistency and taste at the end, but with a reduced heat level.

      • Me too.
Don't mind spicy food, i'd say i'm a bit above average for tolerance, but this was at my limit.
My missus gave up pretty quickly.
Bought a handful, so going to halve the amount of paste next time and then work up.

  • Highly recommend at this price

  • Price matching Coles

So how does the Chicken Curry compare to the Rendang?

    • +2

Highly recommended. I stock up on these when on sale. These were $2.20 in 2022.

It's absolutely excellent. Their Laksa paste is too.

    • Different, but both taste great

Their Laksa is actually pretty authentic.

  • Excellent product.

I can't see rendang. Is it OOS?

    • Seems to be, yes.

  • I really enjoyed both the Rendang and Laksa, I added a bit of lemon juice to the sauce but no other spices. Very tasty and easier than making my own curry spice mix.

I am interested to try it

  • Anyone tried it without adding any meat/chicken?

    • +1

I've had it with chickpeas, pretty good.

      • Thanks!

If you have the rendang you absolutely have to toast your own coconut for it. Makes it next level.

    • +3

Clarification for newbies to making Rendang - you add this toasted desiccated coconut in the last 5 minutes of cooking the curry - it's what really dries it out, thickens and then turns the curry a dark brown colour at the very end of the cooking process.
