  • Not bad, but vintage blades are easy enough to come across. If you're going to buy a new blade you should fork out for the veritas pmv11 + chipbreaker or hock blade replacements instead.

    Wood By Wright did some pretty comprehensive testing and shared a spreadsheet of the data. Probably won't find anything cheaper than this deal, but having to sharpen and hone frequently can be tedious.

  • Sharpening your existing plane blades makes more sense. Even if it was chipped, having the correct combination of grindstones and whetstones would keep your plane in perfect condition.

    • Lol I don't think people are replacing their blades whenever they go blunt. I have a low knob 4 1/2 that has barely any steel left to be sharpened. I'll be replacing that with a veritas blade very soon.
