  • Any other similar green dial watches around, possibly in gold? I’ve been wanting a green dial for a while now but haven’t bit on the deals that come along.

Ideally something closer to the $150 mark but I know thats probably a dream haha

Check out steeldive on AliExpress, lots of deals and reviews posted on OzB previously.

capt willard in green??? not bad

i actually dont think that Fugu in green is all that bad… proper made in japan w/ hack winding movt. with sapphire and true 200m for $330… you cant beat it

i dont like 44mm but i can handle it

        • Tandorio Cpt Willard Sunburst Green Dial, Bronze Case, Logo or No LogoUS$126.00 + GST

        • I have the Capt Willard in green. Bought it in Nov and absolutely love it. I'm not an expert by any stretch but still feel it's a quality watch and looks great.

        • @Kunny go the Fugu, pretty affordable and nice to get proper brand, citizens are quality and that green is really nice. Otherwise I'd suggest the eco-drive equivalent.
          https://watsonsjewellers.com.au/products/citizen-promaster-d…

You shouldn't pay over A$100 for those steeldives and at least with proper brands you can sell for more later if you get sick of it.

The citizen fugu in the deal has one of the best green dials < $500 that I have come across. Alternative divers cheaper than the fugu would be the steeldive sd1970 or one from the Invicta pro diver range.
I have the sd1970 in green & it's a great watch for the price, but you can't beat the sunburst effect in the fugu.
I would've pulled the trigger on the green fugu if it was < $300

    • Yeah you're definitely dreaming , these watches are cheap enough or haven't you noticed !

    • Check out the JDM Seiko Spirit SBTR017 if you don’t mind chronographs, I’d say it’s a budget Alpinist, looks pretty close to the Alpinist green gold..

Otherwise Steeldive SD1970 in green is pretty cool too!

  • Hrrmmm nothing catches my eye. Hopefully Shiels pulls through.

Need another gift card loophole 😮‍💨🥲

    • They're all being cancelled

      • Oh word? Even the original lot of orders? I was only watching the thread on the 1st night lo
Then had to just not go back in the chance I randomly bought 5 watches…

        • They emailed out mentioning they’re cancelling & refunding all watch and gift card orders over the last couple days

      • Did you already get an email about yours?

Edit: Disregard, just checked the thread. RIP. Sucks for OP, if he kept it to himself he might've got a cheap watch…

      • Ordered 6am 5jan. Dispatched 5pm same day. I am repeated customer getting favorable treatment perhaps.

        • getting my all green fugu today

          • @pissedpoor: Arrived in divers air-tank box

DutyFreeIsland from HK were asking 22$ 3 years ago to ship in box (it's big) and only charged 4$ no box.

Before covid it's free postage no box 2$ with box (regular, not the big one that 1 of the Citzen Anniversary box that I paid 6$ for) now I misplaced it somewhere

    • It is quite disappointing to be honest, calling it a new year sale.

    • not many seikos in the starbuy new year sale which is a it sad.

  • Thanks op, where is Bulova made in now?

Fugu bezel looks like the edge of a beer bottle cap

What about the Citizen Eco-Drive AW1710-12E for $145? I quite like the look of it.

    • That date window over the 3 would do my head in.

      • Agree, awkward af

  • Dont go much on citizen. Would be nice to see an orient kamatsu deal….

    • +1

There is not distributor or warranty centre for Orient in Australia.

      • That's a pretty good choice, I thought only the Komasu had sapphire.

        • This is Kamasu not Mako

          • @lastkey: Ok that deal said Mako

            • @G-rig: I know, but it's Kamasu, and I have the watch. There are some differences between Mako and Kamasu, such as indexes and sapphire crystals. Mako doesn't have sapphire except for the new Mako 40. I may be wrong. Orient models are confusing. Mainly because the community gives Mako and Kamasu names. Orrient only uses model numbers. A review of this watch. https://youtu.be/C2cYja0pcXM?si=p4DyPpC9cz2NNs9t

              • @lastkey: That's Cool, used to be just Kamasu so maybe a new thing. Looks alright for the price anyway and that colour pops.

  • If I wear the tuna watch, will it give me enough rizz to attract all the tuna?

Got my eyes on the Citizen Promaster Mini EO2020. Hopefully it will go below $300 soon!

  • Yeah, bit of a disappointing entry into 2024 from SB. The Fugu is certainly nice - I have one, so can confirm - but they routinely pop up at this price so it isn't anything extra special.

I'm vaguely tempted by the MT-G G-Shock, it's not often you see MT-Gs go for well under $1k, although I prefer the red accents of the B1000D.

    • I think I've posted Fugu's more than anyone else & can't recall it being this price before.

Pretty amazing actually when you consider everything else has been going up lately.

      • Sonofagun, you're right, I was thinking of the $349 price point

  • Which one is better in terms of quality when compared - Citizen Auto Fugu or Seiko 5 Sports SRPD61K( https://watchdirect.com.au/products/seiko-5-sports-mens-watc…)

    • +2

      Citizen

plus it has way more cred

      • +1

Agree, can't beat them for the price point. I don't like Seiko 5s.

    • In general, Citizen seems to be the underdog compared to Seiko so they compete by offering better value, a bit like Pepsi and Coke, at least that is my impression.

  • How does the Fugu match up with the Seiko Presage? Anyone with real world experience?

    • +1

Presage is a dress watch. Both solid choices and similar quality for the money, depends what you want but I'd get a dive watch unless you wear formal attire every day.

    • +2

This is a great article about the appeal the Fugu has.

      https://www.gearpatrol.com/watches/a44867832/citizen-promast…

As for Fugu vs Presage, well, they are two completely different looks.
