FYI, I had to use SurfShark VPN for this to work. They have free 7 day trial that you can cancel so no charge.

Tried these: (TunnelBear - Has Nigeria but didn't work. NordVPN / WindScribe / ExpressVPN didn't have Nigeria as an option.)

  • Can this be done on a iPhone?

    • Yep, I used Cyber Ghost VPN on iPhone yesterday for BG3 - worked fine for Nigeria (& Turkey - I bought Terminator Complete edition for $12 as well)

  • These Nigerians get alot of cheap games!

  • What are the chances of an Xbox account getting locked as a result of these deals?

    • very low. Many people have used this way to sub the gamepass, i myself also renewed gamepass to 3 years by VPN and never have any problem.

  • Can we just get a local physical copy under $50 please

    • +4

No different to the Spotify, YouTube, insert [subscription model] here that gets so popular.

Fair point though. Sorry for your future negs.

        • +5

How is it stealing or piracy? You're still buying the game at a price set by the distributor. You're just buying it from a different country.

            • +5

@Ademos: Its neither piracy, nor illegal in Australia. It violates the terms and conditions the companies have set out. So they can ban you if they choose,

But that’s it. It’s a risk. I have bought keys from other countries for years. If MS cared they could easily ban accounts. My account has purchased directly from Australian, American and Turkish Xbox stores. It has activated keys from Brazil, Argentina, Nigeria etc. there’s absolutely no way they arent aware of what is going on. But they appear to be happier with people buying content legally through cheaper means than not at all. Its a digital key… not something physical they are losing money on when you purchase it.

I realise i could be banned or buy a key that doesnt activate. But thats it. There’s no piracy involved. No laws are being broken. Just rules set by companies that make billions of dollars and price discriminate to maximise their profits world wide.

              • @mxlegend99: i managed to add a couple game keys doing this (baldurs/forza) but the 3rd game i got, was a bit delayed by cjs-cdkeys. trying to redeem and now ms now giving me a diff message about 'this game was purchased in a country different to my account'.

vpn is all good and its a diff message to the normal geo problems, seemingly specifically blocking my au account. any ideas?

            • +3

@Ademos: give it a rest your rant on the other thread has read whole if it isnt illegal then it is fair game

regional pricing is a scam to rip off Australians and other similar nations

thus is why you can get around it with a VPN because it is morally and ethically unsound from the get go to charge people different prices based on their nationality

you're not talking a physical item in which you can understand why in some countries the price price will vary, we're talking a completely digital item it cost the same to sell it to a nigerian or an Australian there SHOULDNT be a price difference bar local taxes like VAT or GST

              • -2

@Trying2SaveABuck: I agree with every point you made.

My only point, which you didnt address, it that its still, currently, fraud. And illegal.

                Please put your emotions down.

                • +1

@Ademos: it isnt illegal please to bypass geoblocking

it breeches a companies T and Cs they can ban you if they like but they dont 'actually' care because they are still making money and they would be shooting themselves in the foot banning people paying for content

you dont know what you're talking about and im not the emotional one look how many karan comments you have made, you're wrong on this one mate take the L and walk

it is unethical and probably should be illegal to charge people different amounts based on race and location - if anything the companies are the ones doing the wrong thing this is just a way to even out the field

                  • -2

@Trying2SaveABuck: Obtaining financial advantage by deception is fraud. Period.

You dont have to like it, you dont have to agree with it, and you can wish it didnt apply to your precious games.

                    Please stop with the tantrum.

                    • @Ademos: What deception are you referring too? Please name who has been deceived?

Stop rambling you karan and take the L

      • +5

Unlike many of those this doesn’t even require using fake payment details. You can pay with an AU PayPal account and then register to a MS account with an Australian address. The MS redemption form literally said my account was registered to the Australian region the line above the code input field.

The Productivity Commission recommended the government make it legal for people to bypass geolocation restrictions. I can't remember what happened after that but I believe it's permissible to bypass geolocation restrictions in Australia.

      Reference:article

      • "Make it legal" explicitly implies that it isnt legal.

        • +5

Read the article. It isn’t illegal . Here is a quote that clarifies why they want to make it legal:

‘The Productivity Commission report argued that the Federal Government needs to send a clear message that it is not an infringement of copyright for consumers to evade geoblocking technology.

The Government is also being urged to avoid entering international obligations or trade deals that support restrictions like geoblocking.’

Making it legal is to protect our rights.

          • @mxlegend99: But it literally is infringement. Copyrights involve regional rights. Its partly in the name. If you evade the regional restrictions, you're pirating the content.

Im not stoked about it either but yall need to face reality.

AKS8 worked as a coupon code and provdied an 8% ($1.69) discount. Note first time using eneba.

Cyberghost worked for activation. 3 day free trial available via google play, cancel subscription after key activation.

    • Cheers, coupon code did not work for me but cyberghost activation did. Installing now. :)

    • +1

      Cheers. Can offset the fee

  • Another + for Cyberghost, worked best for me on my Mac.

  • +4

Seriously. These key sellers are anything but legit. You're basically supporting theft (keys purchased via stolen credit cards etc). Shouldn't be allowed.

And then on top of that if you need a VPN to activate… (not that this bugs me so much, but it's just icing on the cake).

    • +1

Because the keys are located in another region. Hence the need for a VPN to activate the game onto your account to download.

  • Is there a step by step like a real slow step by step for us aka me idiots who have no idea how to do anything?

      1. Purchase Key
      2. Download VPN that has Nigeria (I use Tunnelbear)
      3. Go to redeem.microsoft.com, log onto your account.
      4. Copy the key into text box
      5. Turn off VPN
      6. Turn on your Xbox and download the game
      7. Enjoy!
      • So you don’t need to be on vpn to purchase keys?

  • Think it’s gone up in price now

  • Wouldn’t it be cheaper to buy from this link?

    https://www.eneba.com/xbox-baldurs-gate-3-digital-deluxe-edi…

    • Looks like the same link? I'd imagine the piicing fluctuations will be due to forex and diff buyers popping in and out.

      • All good
I just got it and downloading now

Thanks for everyone that helped me out

Some other good cheap games on there too

Really keen to get Alan Wake 2 Deluxe which I think is $31 plus fees

  • i managed to add a couple game keys doing this (baldurs/forza) but the 3rd game i got, was a bit delayed by cjs-cdkeys. trying to redeem and now ms now giving me a diff message about the game being purchased in a country different to my account. vpn is all good and its a diff message to the normal geo problems. looks like they've put a stop to it? on my account anyway…

    • +1

      Whats the message exactly?

Try changing your Xbox region to the region of the key. I had a game purchase that wasn’t available on the Australian store do it wouldn’t activate even with VPN. I changed the region and it activated just fine.

I thought i got a fake key at first. I now switch account region along with the VPN before redeeming anything.

      • its something like 'cant redeem - this game was purchased in a country different to your account' (aus).

what are the pros & cons of changing your xbox account region? does it limit other games, is there a limit to how often you can do it etc?

i have a new account with no online access paid etc. new console, literally just bought these 3 nigerian keys.

        • +3

No limit to region changing. I change, redeem codes and put it back to Australia once done. Only downside is if you dont change it back, you might see the wrong currency on your Xbox. Although you simply change it back to Australia and everything is good.

          • +1

@mxlegend99: whats the URL for where you're doing this? cause all i see under Xbox Settings > 'Change 360 Account Region' and that has the following:

"You can only move between Xbox Live regions once every 3 months."

Update; finally found where to change on my actual microsoft account under 'Your Info' - and it seems to have worked. props to you my man!

  • +2

Just in case anyone is revisiting this now. I bought codes today for both BG3 and Alan Wake 2 which were for Egypt, they worked but I needed to try a few VPNs to find one that offered Egypt. Used HotSpot Shield in the end, which offers a 7 day free trial.

    • +1

Shame Tunnelbear hasn't got an Egypt server. They do however have an Argentinian server. Tunnelbear works great for activating codes as i got an account for 7GB of data each month (5GB per month free deal from Ozbargain years ago).

      • Thanks for the suggestion Griff
