Is OzBargain a big part of your life?

For me it is. I check Ozb everyday. Almost 75% of the things I buy (apart from groceries and other staples) is either from Ozbargain or from a website/store that I've found on Ozbargain. Without Ozbargain, I wouldn't have known of Vitacost, BB.com, iherb, Globe, Hallensteins, Mens Shop, Macy's, Bulknutrients, The Hut, Endless, B&H, Tinydeal, DWI and Threadless.

Ozb has literally saved me thousands of dollars of my hard earned money over the years. So thank you Scotty and the rest of you Ozbargainers :)

Ozb has literally made me spend thousands of dollars of my hard earned money over the years.

    • +3

Yes, but would you have saved the those dollars, or spent them? And if spent them, would you have got more or less total satisfaction spending them with or without this site?

  • Agree with Nick (and hi Nick!)
dont forget that Ozbargain also has forums which add value to your life.

OzB is a community, not just something you pull deals from (it can be the latter if that is what you choose - that is your choice).

In answer to Maldrat's question, yes. OzB is a great way to be resourceful and creative with your money, time and possessions.

    • It is a community no matter for people in Australia, but for the whole world in the future!

  • +4

I'm like part of the furniture around here.

I come for the deals, I stay for the up-votes and banter.

I've had to turf the dog out of her kennel to make room for all the gadgets I bought. The kids are wailing because of this so the missus has threatened to divorce me unless I restore the natural order. It's all OzBargain's fault.

    :) :) :)

  • Yes, it is.

  • +4

My kids tease me that I check it several times a day. But then we just got back from Singapore on $200 return scoot flights that wouldn't have happened without this site, so I'll put up with the teasing. (And they got a cheap Lego train for their birthday, so they should be well grateful).

  • +3

Even though I actually buy very little, OzBargain is my most visited site (per day, and overall). So yes, yes it is :-)

  • +2

Can't help it, I am a cheapsake :) Maybe I should get therapy! Wait on, we have free therapy from work, there I go again.

  • Indeed it is but wondering what I have missed by all the places you mentioned as I don't think I know any of them. Just had a look but most of the stuff I want can't be shipped here :(

  • i thought it was not a question!

  • +5

I'm mostly here harrassing you guys when I'm meant to be doing other work…it's my number one avoidance behaviour since I stopped gaming. As soon as I say I'm 'doing reports' the boss says, "any good bargains?" Lucky I multitask well!

Mind you, I do enjoy the thrill of a bargain or three… ;)

    • +4

Is "reports" an English Name or is it Scandinavian?

      • Yes, I'd certainly prefer it to be a double entendre along the old James Bond lines "I was busy brushing up on a little Danish!" :)

        • +4

          The name is Balls, StewBalls……

  • +1

Sure is. Dont even want to put a number to the amount of times I check ozbargain each day. Saved me thousands plus like others agree there is a real feel good community spirit and humour which I have not found elsewhere on the net.

I work for one of big4 bank. I was able to visit ozb but it is blocked now. Maybe I visited this site too much?

    • +8

If you work for one of big4 banks, you should be rich enough to use 3G to look at ozbargain..

      • +3

That's what they want the university students to think. For those who have actually been through big4 (or back then when there were more than 4), the grad intakes are usually low-paid + heavy work load. You only get serious money when you are a partner.

        • +2

But with a $30 telstra sim (for $10).. with a normal job that's easily affordable
That's like less than 50% of an hours worth @ minimum wage in Australia.
Even if you fry chicken at KFC you would get enough to buy a Telstra SIM.. for visiting OzBargain :P

        • +3

You only get serious money when you are a partner.

Which of the 4 banks are a partnership ?

        • +1

When people talk about "big4" in the context of job prospect, they usually refer to the big 4 international professional service firms, not the 4 banks in Australia…

        • Maybe he got confused with the big4 Accounting firms

        • Yeah, low level bank wages are shit IME.

I remember going in to cash a wage cheque many years ago & the teller said "wow, you've had a good fortnight"…I said "yeah, especially since I'm on weekly pay!" You should have seen the poor woman's face when the computer confirmed the weekly transactions! FWIW, I was on ok money then (labourer); but not outrageously high either, so the comparison must've been pretty unfavourable indeed.

IMBI3, you should try to VPN/RDP to another location (i.e. home) & access OzB from there…that works for me since we had an internet lockdown to keep the office bimbos/himbos from blogging every nosepick & butt wipe extravaganza on FakeBook all day! ;)

Sometimes the drama on here is more interesting than on Facebook.

Often haha (eg. PS scandal by broden)

      We should've had FaceBargain.

  • I'm with you on the checking it everyday! I get the email at 5am every morning and I'm reading through daily hah! Love ozbargain !!

  • I check it multiples times a day. Some bargains are just too good and thus are very time limited. My favorite bargain was when I got told about the 70% off sale from thehut.com. Bought a synthetic leather jacket for $47 delivered to my door. I have gotten many compliments on it and it is much better looking than my jacket from Politix for $169 (40% off).

Recently bought some cologne for 95c not to mention learning about the entertainment book.

  • Ozb is on top of my Google Reader list - i'm on it all day! didn't know it existed until I saw it mentioned on Lifehacker.

Keep up the good work guys.

I've developed this nervous twitch between my index finger and my pinky that resulted from clicking 'o' then 'Enter' in the url bar every few minutes every day over the last few months.

you wouldn't need to if OzBargain was your homepage.

      • Good idea! Why hadn't I thought of that?

  • it is rally a good place to share and find good bargains, but seems a little hard to post deals, sometimes people have good bargains as a representative of a store, but the vote is low, as for me it is absolutely a bargain, but the vote is too low to post more! But i can still come here to know more deals froem other store like Mens Shop etc.

  • +3

    I'm just a troll.

  • it helps but also allure me to spend my money. I hate deals and I love it

  • I just get used to find good deals at ozbargain

Hi, I'm samia786 and I'm an ozbargain addict.

Yes the highlight of my day is when I check ozbargain (many times!) to save lots of money by spending lots of money on things I didnt know I needed. And on things that I didnt even know they existed (like the toothpaste squeezer!)
The worst days were those when I didnt check ozbargain and missed out on all the bargains that I really wanted :/

  • I've spent a year browsing OzBargain so far this week.

  • Absolutely. I check the site several times a day, don't want to miss out on those bargains that sell out! I have bought a ton of stuff including phones, HDDs, HP micro server, memory, food and much more. Awesome site!
