Rex has a mid-week promo sale on. Ie it's cheaper to fly during the week. Of course, that doesn't mean there aren't other days that are cheap too! I've gone through and found the cheapest dates for the next 3 months, which includes Easter.

These one way fares from Rex include checked luggage and carry-on, as well as refreshments.

Rex also has the lowest cancellation rate of any airline in Australia in the past month, and most on-time flights of any airline too.

If looking for a return flight, consider that two one ways can sometimes be cheaper.

Some dates Jetstar/Virgin/Bonza (maybe Qantas) might be cheaper, that'll just show at the top of the search. You can use the filters to choose the airline you prefer.

Consider one of the more unusual accommodation options in Australia for your stay.

    Don't understand the negs. They have 7 jets in their fleet and a demanding schedule. It's set up to fail. One jet goes down to unforecast technicalities and they are stuffed.

        Not saying they are less reliable statistically but when an unexpected event happens the flow on effect can be more significant for the rest of that days schedule.

        I would much prefer a slightly higher probability of a small delay than a similar probability of a much greater delay.

        Their service, online checking and communication doesn’t have a lot to be desired.

  some acceptable prices for getting down to melbourne for the ausgp weekend. prices are steep until the following wednesday though for returns.

  My flight from BNE to Sydney got cancelled on 26/12 because of the super storm and have to rebook to 28/12.

  But also heard Virgin, Jetstar flights cancelled but not sure if they could rebook on the same day or not.

  But they have 23kg luggage.
