Bacon and egg Turkish brekky roll + hashbrowns for $5 seems solid

    • +2

I remember scoring the turkish brekky roll&2 hash browns for $4.8 with Jacks app deals and 20% off for brekky awhile ago lol

      • +5

Haha omg i remember getting the 2 whopper jnr and 2 chips ~6$

        Was the best

  • +30

Another update for the quarterly HJ Inflation Tracker™️

  • +6

2 Whopper Jnr + 2 small chips for $9.95……….I remember the days when this actually represented good value.

    • +4

      2 Whopper Jnr + 2 small chips for $9.95

      Actually $8 on app

      • This deal starts on 23 Jan, so the app prices will probably change by then

    • -5

Yeah, when you earnt less money also.

      • +4

Not 50% less money. These have gone up from $4.95 to $9.95 in 3 years.

  • +5

The important question need to be asked. Is phone fine?

    • +2

I have used phone for vouchers before and it was not a problem

    • +4

I’ve never actually presented any voucher

      • -1

        ☝️

    • +7

Every time I have used these vouchers I have never been asked to show them. I get to the drive through window, say "I have a voucher for (whatever it is) for $(price)" and they put it through. Haven't used a paper coupon at a HJs since 2008.

    • Yes you can use your phone to call them.

    • I just got knocked back for phone. They said it could be printed and they would accept but won't take digital apparently been like that for the last 3 months…

      • I had a similar experience at Mt. Lawley (WA) store, but the dude at the window was nice enough that he gave me a couple of pages… Never had a problem anywhere else.

  • +12

2 whooper jnr & chips $10 what a joke .I haven't been to HJ for nearly 2 years since they started there price increases.

    • +5

So what's the alternative? What other places shall we, the cheapos go?

      • +2

The alternative is don't buy it then they have no choice but to lower the price or go broke .

        • +13

That method sounds ineffective in the last 2 years, from what you said…

          • +2

@pizzaguy: It's people power, unfortunately it seems a lot of people don't seem to care what the price is they will pay anything , example a friend purchased a Tesla @covid time had to wait 12 months for delivery & paid 120k less than 3 years later the same car new is approx 80k his car is worth 50K .

            • +5

@spock: Just noting you expect people to boycott the cheapest fastfood on the market because you don't like it's not as cheap as last year/2 years ago/when you went to school.

              • +2

@pizzaguy: Boycott cheap fast food places, so what are the alternatives until they drop their prices ? Their marketing people have identified demographics and deals that hit their identified sweet spot, dropping prices to get customers who are on the cheap edge of the bell curve means they loose money on the middle of the bell curve customers.

            • @spock: so, he paid 200K for a 80K car?

              • @bobokingdom: He paid 120k new because of covid pricing.

                • @spock: Lost over 50% value :(

                  • @bobokingdom: Yeah crazy isn't it , I call it covid prices because all prices went sky hi when covid started & still are .

        • But alternatively you're buying food somewhere else at similarly inflated prices, where someone else could accuse YOU of the same thing.
          Poor logic I'm afraid.

          • @R00D: My logic isn't poor I don't buy from the places that have inflated the food items beyond a reasonable amount I may buy the basic items from etc coles ,ww like milk but avoid them mostly .now that's logic .

        • The alternative is don't buy it then they have no choice but to lower the price or go broke

          Meanwhile stick with slow food?
The majority of people buy fast food because of the convenience. We want (and need) to be fed now, not 5 years later.

      • +4

        So what's the alternative?

Buy a roast chook from Coles or Woolworths & a loaf of bread etc.

        • +5

Roasted chooks are $6.99 at Costco. Probably the only thing worth going there apart from Fuel.

        • My locals are always sold out by 6pm 😔

      • Try a shake and win and get $0.95 off a Whopper. No jokes. Or one time I got a brekkie wrap at 6:30pm!! Seriously I don’t know of one fast food restaurant that hasn’t arched up their prices 30-60% at least and reducing the sizes of what you get for that higher price. Occasionally there is a voucher pop up on the app that looks like a deal until you get the meal and it’s shrunk - fyi FYI KFC made their large chips box smaller and increased by a $1.

They are all doing similar tricks it’s just that we each remind others what we used to pay.

Maybe we can convince the government to investigate all the major fast food chains after they are finished with the supermarkets (problem is most are franchises). So unless the franchise takes a loss can you imagine how much money YUM and McDonalds head office are taking in for example? I bet they arced up their monthly franchise fees and everything else they charge.

    • +1

Have you bought from mac Donald's lately ?
I mean you want a pay increase but everyone else can take a hike !
Life doesn't work that way , I can't believe how ignorant you and your fellow up voters are .

  • +11

HJ is determined whooper won't be in voucher anymore.. and I'm determined to avoid HJ until they do.. hahaha..

    • +2

Sign your birthday up with them and they'll send you a free Whopper on the week of your special day.

      • +1

        @MovielandDom
Thanks for the reminder. Headin' there now. 🎉

      • +1

Heads up they dont send them out until your actual birthday now (they used to send them out 3 days prior)

      • Only if the local franchise supports that particular offer and mine have knocked me back (owned by the same franchisee) they suppose everything except the birthday whopper. Scum.

  • price hikes everywhere are a reality, the let down for me is they seem to omit in beef based meals a drink, so you still need to buy a drink, i like combos of burger chips and drink. Not sure if it’s because chicken and plant patties are less popular and cheaper to make.

  • +4

    wheres the whooper?

    • bottom left corner, 2 x vegan WHOPPERS …

      • +15

        He asked for WHOOPER

        • They could mean Wooper. Hungry Fats are using Pokemon meat!

    • Prolly on the front page, which we don't have here.

      • +2

Here is the reverse side of the vouchers

        https://imgur.com/a/RRZz0Rf

        • +1

Legend. You should add it to the description.

No whopper, but a decent deal of Whopper Jr, small chips and 3 nuggets for $5.

  • +1

Would a physical copy of the voucher be fine to use? Or phone only?

    • +2

      Phone is fine

      • +1

        Thanks but is phone fine?

    • +3

If you try to use a physical voucher you get replaced as the "Hungry for a better job?" trapped soul in the bottom left

    • +1

I am in WA. And the cannington HJ asked me for real copy. Doesnt seem to be consistent all across state though.

  • +2

    Not valid until 23/01/24, right?

    • my bad. thought i had added that already when i did the expiry.

  • Goodness me, if these are deals I'm a bit worried about the fast food economy…

    • Royal Commission into Fast Food Prices incteasing at many times the rate of inflation, not to mention reducing the sizes. Hang on, didn’t I already suggest this? 😜

  • -1

The quality has gone down massively. Gave it a Shot twice (my bad), just wasn't worth it.

    • The quality has gone down massively

I haven't noticed that, but I don't eat there a lot. So how do you tell?

  • +1

Thx Op , best image quality of voucher for a while .

    • +1

If only the actual deal was the same quality..

  • Phone is fine

  • +2

so they finally removed the burger they're famous for

    • Whopper still on voucher, now it's the vegan one ….

      • +2

I noticed that. My point stands

Our Whopper's Been An Aussie Favourite For Over 40 Years. It's Just 100% Aussie Beef, Flame-Grilled To Perfection.

        • Remember when people used to claim “100% Australian Beef” was a trademark or a brand name? lol. Fun conspiracy theories or maybe it was true. Could have had 10% horse or roo meat mixed in. Why has no one tried to franchise with Roo burgers? If you can buy it in the supermarket surely someone can do Ostrich as well and call it “Aussie Icon Burgers”

          • +1

@dman1: Yeah I remember a mate mentioning that when he worked at maccas. Aldi do sell chicken breast in their tendies whereas brands sold at Colesworth just say chicken.

            • @relentless: @relentless: ALDI Chicken tenders aren’t too bad with their levels of filler - but some brands are mixing 48% Chicken with Soy Extract and a bunch of other crap.

One deal which has increased in price as well, but the quality isn’t too bad is the Refrigerated Chicken Schnitzels - usually four to a packet. Last time I checked they were about 95% Chicken and the rest was the crumbed batter. Even though you can put them in the oven if you are desperate you can cook them on a frypan 4 mins one side 3 mins the other on not particularly high heat, olive oil if you want even on a non stick pan or throw them in the oven might have been 18 mins, 9 mins a side at 180C. ALDI also has some decent prepackaged hamburgers or did, and seasoning with salt and pepper on each side, cook them on a heat high enough to seal in each side but they do tend to splatter a bit. Alas I think they had 635 as a flavour enhancer. You gotta check your ingredients list but have to say ALDI is very good if you are vegetarian they are very clear with their ingredients and labeling very clear as to what can be recycled or not, though it’s getting harder and harder to recycle-

my local council now makes you take beer, wine and spirit bottles to these massive metal locked containers they have placed strategically around the council area. They are huge at least 6-8 meters long and wide enough to fit on the back of a flat bed truck.

Now drink containers go to Visy, but don’t be fooled by the recycling app, Visy take a lot more than just the containers in Victoria marked 10cents. Go and visit one and ask them what they will take - they have an app so you can get a direct deposit to your bank or you can get a cash voucher which can be redeemed I think at Coles.

My recycling bin is much emptier these days - our council also has a scheme for soft plastics but a lot less locations to for those. PET1 is still going in land fill which is disappointing but it seems there’s no demand or not enough facilities than can deal with that.

Very soon they are talking about putting non waxed cardboard and other paper into our organics bins. You’ve always been able to put tissues and paper towels but seems like they are expanding it to more products. But they are planning on reducing general waste to bi-weekly pickups and there are some exceptions but they claim they have extensively surveyed general waste and more than 60% of people only have half full general waste.

This is not just one council in Victoria doing this but quite a few are about to change or already have.

Not sure how I got onto this topic but seems more appropriate for another thread or forum post.

  • +4

My health loves these as I rarely eat any fast food anymore due to price inflation making it more worthwhile to just buy real food.

    • +1

Shake n Win does $4 whoppers and $6 whooper and medium coffee.
Seem to be about 1/10 chance for one of those.

      • +3

remember when it used to do free whoppers and other free meals? =(

    • +1

yeah, keep aldi mince meat in the fridge and brioche buns in the freezer ….HJ is appealing if on the road and hungry if they have deal like the $5 double cheese chips and drink deal, but if no deals i can wait to get home, home made cheaper and i get drink from fridge, it’s under 10 mins to cook burger from scratch including heating pan.

      • @garage sale: you got a flame grill going on as well? I guess you could throw them on a BBQ, but it’s a very valid point, just remember anyone considering that effort five star mince has the least amount of fat and the splattering of making your own burgers usually covers the stove and splash back even with the frypan covers to stop that. Clean up can be a PITA but you probably got a better quality burger if you didn’t pay the insane supermarket prices for lettuce, tomatoes and cheese.

  • +2

I wonder if these vouchers will ever be available for poor NT and TAS again.

  • +2

Better off just using the App. Shows the 2 Whopper Jr with 2 small chips for $8 and $2 for a medium coffee as opposed to the small coffee being offered on the vouchers.

  • +5

I haven't been to hungry jacks since they stopped doing the bacon deluxe vouchers :(

  • there's never any deals for bacon deluxe anymore

  • Used to be 2 hunger tamer meals for less than $20

  • +2

    Thanks, I hate it

  • $2 Medium Coffee on the app but $2 Small Coffee here on the voucher ahahha

  • +3

    i miss 2x bacon Deluxe for $10 🥺

  • I stopped McDonalds buys after the over inflated prices kicked in, now this..
KFC at least fills you with their deals, but KFC is hit and miss between stores.
Hungry Jacks lost me when the free salad left, got me back with shake and win came in but lost me when the roll came up with $4 frappacinos.

Whoppers have kept shrinking for years, the meat has gone from real mince to maccas style sausage meat and now not even on the vouchers..
    Hard pass

  • +2

When I was a boy, 5c would get you a big mac… All these replies haha

Inflation people, prices go up, and so do wages, kinda/sometimes. You should have been getting a 10% pay increases over the last 2 years, if you haven't, quit and renegotiate somewhere else.

    • When I was a boy, 5c would get you a big mac

      How old are you? 😱

      • For 5 cents a big mac… probably when Ray Kroc just bought the company.

        • +1

I remember getting potato cakes / scallops for 10c or maybe 15c on my way home from school at the local Fish and Chip Shop. I think they charge $0.80 or even a $1 at some places now.

Growing up we used to be able to get five flake, at least that many potato cakes / scallops and min chips for less than $15 or maybe it was between $15 and $20. I’m not that old either. Try getting that at a Fish and Chip shop these days.

    • +1

Yeah I always expect the usual cohort of whining in these HJ deals - to me they are all solid bargains. If you don't like them, then go elsewhere, where the deals are unlikely to be as good!

      • +1

Exactly. Just took the kids to Dome, kid meals start from a piece of bread with jam and butter for $5 up to around $11 for two sausages, a piece of bread and some fake scrambled eggs. These HJ deals are much better value, maybe at the expense of some quality.

  • They used to have 2 Whoppers for $9.95.
Bring back the Mc Donald's hamburger for $1.00.
They used to get pissey with me when I would order 20.

  • haven't use hungry jack voucher for the last 2 years

    • Yeah, pretty much just go get my free birthday whopper these days.

  • Quite surprised the perth airport branch said they need printed voucher

    • being stingy

  • Yes. A couple of Perth HJs have said they won't do electronic vouchers.

  • My local HJs has this one particular guy who's a сunt and says he doesn't do electronic vouchers with a smug smile on his face. Usually a draw of luck if he's working or not.
