Al Sport - Fountain Pen Gold Edition $71.60 (rrp $179.00) + Delivery $12.95 Express @ Pentimento Papeterie

190

I bought a few as gifts for family who love fountain pens, though my experience with them is limited.
Pentimento is having 60% off kaweco pens until stock is sold out.

There are still a few designs left and there's also a sale on various other stationary on their website.

Description of Kaweco Fountain Pens:
"Since 1883 Kaweco writing instruments stand for quality and design. Unique for Kaweco is the octagonal design, which can be retrieved in the many different series. No matter if fountain pen, rollerball or pencil, no matter if edgy or circular, Kaweco creates the perfect pens for your demand, which convinces through high-quality haptics.

The Al Sport writing instruments are produced and assembled in Germany and are a real quality product.

All nibs, as well as the fountain pen itself, are made in Germany."

  • These are good sale prices. RRP is a bit far-fetched though.

      • Hopefully not the NIB !?

  • Vastly prefer Kaweco to Lamy
Prices look good but shipping kills it for one pen.

    • Have a look at the waterman carene.
I have that in rollerball as it's just a beautiful looking pen

You have a 'few' family members that 'love' fountain pens? … That's pretty unique, is there a story behind this?…

    • +1

Oh my sister and my bil love stationary, (they're quite artsy) and they've gifted me fountain pens and ink before.
When I saw this deal I thought I'd surprise them, and I looked up reviews that said they're pretty good.

The body of the Al sports looks pretty bad after a few scratches on the body (which is easy to scratch by the way).
While you might like the golden body look. Better to have gold in the nib.
Have a look at sailor, Amazon Japan have pretty good prices.
It will still be more than this but worth the investment

    • im fairly new into fountain pens. Started with Lamy but have found that I much prefer Kaweco. Can you tell me why a gold nibs are considered better?

      • +1

Generally a smoother writing experience. They don't feel as scratchy as steel nibs

      • softer metal, smoother writing
