Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2022 (11.2" 2.5K OLED, 6GB/128GB, Widevine L1) US$197.71 (~A$297.80) Shipped @ Factory Direct AliExpress

AENYA2024WS20

This deal is back and this time it's the 6GB/128GB MediaTek Kompanio 1300T CPU variant in the colour Gold that's quite light in colour. I've been using this one since receiving it a week after the last deal and it's easily my favourite tablet yet. The OLED screen is beautiful, the Android ROM isn't sluggish and the CPU/GPU paired with the fast RAM/storage handles every game thrown at it.

While this ships with an unofficial Global ROM without updates/Widevine L1, it's very easy to reflash it to the official Global ROM with Widevine L1 for Netflix HD, Google Play and OTA updates. Instructions can be found here with this very important part.

Features include an 11.2" 2560x1536 OLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, 600nits brightness, HDR10+ & Dolby Vision, 6GB RAM, 128GB UFS 3.1 Storage (microSD support), 8200mAh battery with 30W fast charging, USB-C with Video Out, 4 JBL Speakers with Dolby Atmos, 13MP rear camera, 8MP front camera, WiFi ac, Bluetooth 5.1, GPS and POGO pins for charging/keyboard.

      That one has chinese rom

    • I have both and just got another snapdragon variant. The snapdragon is miles better. The mediatek lags. I have tried both global and Chinese rom on both variants. Chinese rom is the best running ZUI 15 on snapdragon.

      • The MediaTek Kompanio 1300T variant doesn't lag on the official Global ROM (converted from Chinese ROM via Lenovo RSA tool) in my case. Even multitasking is a smooth experience. You probably were using the unofficial Global ROM stitched together by the seller, that also doesn't support OTA updates and Widevine L1.

If you're purchasing the SD 870 Pad Pro 2022 variant, DO NOT get the Global ROM that has been installed by the seller. Possibly the bootloader is unlocked, as there's no official Global ROM for that variant. Chinese ROM is the way to go for that tablet, otherwise MediaTek if you want the official Global ROM, which still works very well.

Here's some reviews for the SD 870 variant with the custom Global ROM installed with bootloader unlocked.

Item arrived fast and the hardware itself was perfect. But the software is extremly poor and not working at all. Google Playstore not usable, Google Framework full of bugs destroying the good feeling of the tablet. Bootloader was still open btw. and Updates will never come for global ROM. Not recommended for international buyers.

      lol @ this translation.

Don't think about buying something from this liary. He is a deceiver and he will throw you! I bought a tablet for my mother expensive for the new year, and it turned into a brick.

As you can see, its referring to the bootloader being unlocked.

Review complaining about lack of HD for Netflix, given it doesn't support Widevine L1

Don't buy netflix don't work in HD it's a very bad tablet it's still in China rom with zero updates please don't buy.

  • Can anyone suggest a compatible stylus/pen for this Lenovo model? TIA

    • Lenovo's Precision Pen 3 works best as it charges off the back

  • Does anyone have thoughts on whether the Android 13/ZUI 15 Chinese ROM or the Official Android 13 Global ROM offers a better user experience? Particular with regards to multitasking features such as floating windows and taskbar (permanent row of apps at the bottom of display, not in PC mode).

If the Chinese ROM is same or better then I'm probably going to wait for a sale on the snapdragon 870 model, if the Global ROM is better then I think I'll grab this one.
I'm finding it difficult to look for any resources on either of these which I guess is because they've only just released.

Would really appreciate any help with this :)

    • If you want all google play apps to function as intended, then i would get the MediaTek Kompanio 1300T variant and convert it to the official Global ROM via Lenovo's RSA tool.

Buy a Google Pixel Tablet is much easier.

        • Nah. The OP gave clear instructions. It's a pretty simple process. Much better device than the Google Pixel which is overpriced for what you get.

      • Oh interesting I wasn't aware that was an issue with the Chinese ROM. I was under the impression you could sideload the Play Store and any associated apps/services. What are some apps that won't function properly?

        • It should work the majority of the time. Just I've heard issues from people with some apps not working fully, like Google assist doesn't work or meta messenger won't dial.

Note that this Pen is just the same as using your finger on the screen. It doesn’t enable palm rejection or have pressure sensitivity.

  • Ordered the mediatek 6G just after Christmas from the same store and it was delivered over the weekend. There was a 10-day delivery promise and they duly delivered. Came with unofficial "global" Android 12 rom which supported widevine L1, but wasn't able to get OTA updates.

Flashed Android 13 via the RSA tool and works like a champ. The UI does lag occasionally despite the 120hz display, but it's a minor gripe. Screen is fantastic, and I use it for primarily for reading and streaming. Battery life has been great too. Still on its first charge.

Build quality is good. Everything works well. Highly recommended. Thanks @Clear for the multiple posts and recommendations.

Also got a case and screen protector from Amazon. Have a good feeling this tablet will last a few good years. Unlikely to get ipad like updates, but you don't pay the Apple tax and have better control over apps (eg ad free YouTube)

Does anyone know if it can be used as an extended display for a laptop?

    • +1

I don't believe it has video input. I would have to test. For any Android device you can use something like Spacedesk to turn them into a monitor.

      • Thanks, wonder how well it works over wifi. Will try it out.

    • The UI does lag occasionally despite the 120hz display,

Elaborate more on it. I haven't noticed any lag on mine. The only time it would lag a bit (not meeting 120hz) is when I'm playing a 1440p+ video in the background and browsing at the same time.

      • Example is Youtube in PIP mode. Navigating home screen you can see it drops alot of frames, where as the snapdragon variant doesn't.

        • Navigating home screen you can see it drops alot of frames, where as the Snapdragon variant doesn't.

Yeah, but overall the device does what it's intended to do. I would've purchased the Snapdragon 870 variant if there was an official Global ROM. I also suspect it may be the limiting RAM on the MediaTek (6GB) that may be contributing to the lag when in PIP on YouTube in meeting 120Hz.

The only major differences between the models are the SD 870 has faster charging (68w) more RAM (8GB) and the GPU (Adreno 650) is faster than the GPU in the Kompanio 1300T variant (Mali-G77 MC9).

Replaced the stock launcher with Nova, and using Google News add-on. I wouldn't have expected any UI lag for a relatively fast SOC but it's there - I see it every now and then. May be there is still some optimisation to be done, but as I've explained it's a minor gripe and it works well for my use case.

        • No UI lag here. Only lag I've encountered is from multitasking with the YouTube App while the video is playing PIP. On Brave Browser, it doesn't have this issue. I suspect because the YouTube App while in PIP is using more RAM, hence the lag.

    • There is a proprietary piece of software that should be available for extending the display on this… Lenovo Project Unity.

      • Cool thanks, will add to my list for testing!

  • Anything for 13inch version with Snapdragon option @Clear ? Thanks for great deals always.

  • Damn missed out, any other places to get it at similar price?

  • Sorry everyone, I bought the last one. You can still buy the 8GB variant and it only costs $50 more.

    • When upgrading to 8gb, deosn't that get the SD version which can't be converted to the global rom?

  • I'm a total noob so apologies if this is a simple question. Is this Pad Pro basically the same as Lenovo Tab P11 Pro Gen 2 that's being sold at JB Hi-Fi, Officeworks, etc.? The post on Global ROM instructions says it'll make it into P11 Pro

    • That's a different tablet. You linked the Lenovo Tab P11 and not the Pro that the RSA took converts it to.

      • Ah ok. Didn't realise it wasn't the Pro version. Thanks for replying Clear.

  • It looks like the deal is back.

    • No it's not. When the deal was on it was around 300 AUD. Now the listing shows as around 350 AUD.

      • +1

At the time when I commented, the Golden 6G 128G version was available for AU$307.13. I took a screenshot, that clearly displays the price. :)
It looks like it's gone again.

  • Clearing Customs
Failed to clear at import customs

    anyone else?

    • Mine will reach customs in the next few days, did it get returned to the seller?

      • +1

just got an email that it cleared

    • +3

give it a few days and it should arrive at your front door.

unless its a weapon or something dangerous or illegal… you'll be fine.

got mine today - everything seems intact. They could've sent it in box with protective layers but it was just the retail box in one of those delivery sleeves.

      • Count yourself lucky and here. Glad I paid extra for a sealed box with protective bubble wrap with the Chinese ROM, then flashed it to the official Global ROM.

        • Add another broken DOA to the list.

    • received and flashed without issue

  • Got mine from the recent deal and flashed to glabal rom via RSA fine.

Has anyone else tied monitoring the charge watts?

The max I see is 17w with the charger that came in the box. Currently at 40% battery level. It starts at 5v and moves to 9v but it wont get close to 30w as per the specifications for the 1300T cpu version.

  • Tablet arrived today, but doesn't work.

  • The website says "with global ROM installed name: Lenovo Tablet P11 Pro". So it has Lenovo Tablet P11 Pro OS installed. No need to flash it to global ROM via RSA?

    • +1

this ships with an unofficial Global ROM without updates/Widevine L1

    • +1

Widevine L1 works, but you won't have automatic updates to the latest security patch / software versions. It took me about 20 minutes to flash it with RSA, most of it was waiting for the download.

  • Unfortunately I need to return mine - screen is not working at all.

    • Do you have to bear the overseas shipping cost back to China?

      • +1

        I have no idea.
After providing a photo/video of it not working, Aliexpress have initially declined the return?

Looking at it more closely, under very strong light I can now see why the screen doesnt work: cracks throughout the screen (even though at first you do not see any imperfection, under bright light it is very obviously damaged).

It was really difficult to take a photo showing this, anyhow floodlight seemed to help.

        • +1

I would blame the seller for not securing it properly with protective bubble wrap.

  • What's the benefit of Widevine L1 from consumers' perspective? Widevine L1 certification is a way to prevent video streaming content from being copied and redistributed. It's a matter for service providers.

    • +1

Netflix, Amazon Prime in HD instead of SD.

  • I have used mine for 14 months and quite happy with it. However today screen just goes all black even though battery level is good. I tried to do factory reset however not sure if its working as screen just not showing anything.
Anyone else had the same issue before?

  • Has anyone on the TB138FC model able to reflash it to the official Global ROM? I followed the steps from https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/800577?page=1#comment-1443… however I can only see TB132FU, not sure if I can use this for flashing.

    • +1

That guide won't work because you have the Qualcomm variant and there's no global ROM available. Are you running ZUI? If not you need to follow this guide. It's more involved.

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/comment/14625115/redir

      • thanks for the quick reply @Clear! I just checked and I am running on ZUI. I am planning to get another xiaoxin pad pro 2022, is it better to get the TB132FU over the TB138FC next time? I noticed the price difference is almost the same.
