Is everything in Japanese in the car? Or do they flash English software onto the cars once they get here?

      • +3

Most owners will just fit an aftermarket head unit to solve infotainment issues, as for the dash yeah it'll be in Japanese. There are companies out there that will convert them but it's easier and cheaper to just point the google translate camera at the dash to find out what that error code or setting is. The stuff you actually want to read while driving will all be in readable units though.

Edit: the above is specific to the previous gen Honda Vezel/Fit as they are what I personally researched when looking to import my own. YMMV with other brands and models.

      • Good question.

You'd be a fool to buy a Honda hybrid given what happened with their last hybrid attempt 15 years ago.
also took them that long to make a hybrid with laughable fuel consumption figure so why bother? They must have been sniffing someone exhaust all that time.

    • +6

Sounds even more foolish basing this on something from 15 years ago

Is there any other 4 seat cars? I am just staggered at this. Supposedly based on the jazz according to an earlier comment here, that isn't even 4 seat. Wtf Honda! Just put a seatbelt there. Even if it's a squash.

    • its bigger than a jazz. check it out. its like the old city more. i have both (city and this model) and previously had the jazz. its roomer than the jazz size is like the city but shorter

The car is tiny, there is very slim chance anyone was going to have 3 people across the rear bench anyway.

The issue is Australian Design Rules mandating that any second-row seat with a seatbelt be equipped with a top tether point for securing a child seat.

No other country has this requirement. So it means that Honda would have had to made expensive modifications to the car just for the tiny Australian market. They have chosen not to do that.

So the car could still be sold, the middle seat simply doesn’t get a seat belt installed,

You sound very much like a Honda rep mate, no matter what Honda has become lazy and its a matter of time they'll become another blackberry or Nokia so why bother. They'll quit Australian market quicklier than their f1 car doing a lap.

        • Not a Honda rep at all.

I agree with you! They have become lazy in our market. I was just providing you the information as to why it was a 4 seater in Australia.

I reflected on the 4 seater limitation, and if I ever owned a car this small I would almost never have the rear bench loaded with 3 people. I don’t think I’m the only one, so the 4 seater issue is not really an issue for the majority of people.

i got this car when it was first out
i get around 700 to 750km on a full tank (city driving)

    pro
    - hybrid is great for city driving
    - love the look and inside

    con
    - still missing a bit of power when driving in freeways, especially up hills
    - andriod auto is corded
    - boot is small

ive always been a honda man so i love the car, have two car seats with kids over 5 so fine with 4 seats

if i had a pram i would have issues. long trips will be hard too, boot is small.

Lol, I can get 800km out of the non hybrid Mazda made 10 years ago.

      • In the city?
        Doubtful.

        • -3

Yes, mazda 3 6.7l in city driving or 6.3l highway. I bet my boot space is bigger too.

@lgacb08: Cars get greater mileage on the highway not city driving bud.

            • @bennybaubles: Not always. These little engines can struggle.

            • @bennybaubles: Yeah, my 2 year old bub know that too, I gave you the real world number to show its not that far off from quoted number with just normal no fancy engine. I bet that 4.3L quoted number will blow out to 5.3L in real life with fancy engine too.

      • At city? Lol even 400km still not easy.

        • -3

You obviously haven't got much life experience around car, I can tow a caravan around the city for that quoted range.

  • What about Kona Hybrid?

    • Kona Hybrid, hands down. No questions asked.

Kona Hybrid Premium = ~$47,000 drive away so essentially the same as the HR-V Hybrid.

22 model in 2024 for only $1800 discount? Lol $45k its not a bargain

    • question is how much discount is reasonable for 2yrs? I reckon maybe 20% sounds good? so less than 40k?

EV is a great virginity shield.

  • i thought Honda ceased operation in Au. How many models are in their lineup ?

    • +1

      Still very much on sale.

      • HR-V
      • ZR-V
      • CR-V
      • Civic Hatch
      • Accord (new model coming soon)
  • Unfortunately Honda has lost the plot especially for Australia and I'm a Honda fan 🥴
Try calling Honda for spare parts, worst service and a bland range of new cars! Only decent car in the range, the CTR is madly over priced.
