  • Got one after missing the eBay deal last night.

  • How do you make money out of it?

  • Thank you, I missed the ebay deal. Jumped on this. They seem to be going quickly.

  • Can it add an esim for iwatch?

  • do they do e-sim?

    • They are one of the few who don't do e-sims yet

  • +1

    No free shipping?

    • Na Bro. Sim weight 78kg and they are way too expansive to be free ship. Greedy Sellers

    • +2

      Free shipping (Australia Post)

  • My current boost prepaid plan still has 80 days left, if I buy this and activate, does the 12 months start from the activation date?

    • Yes it starts from the activation date, but note you won't get the 10gb extra if you activate after 29 Jan, so you'll have 160GB.

    • +3

No, you can't use it for a recharge

      in T&Cs

      1. This is NOT a Boost $230 recharge voucher. IF YOU ARE ALREADY A BOOST EXISTING CUSTOMER, PLEASE DO NOT BUY THIS SIM; IN THAT CASE, YOU NEED A $230 BOOST RECHARGE VOUCHER

        1. If you are already on Boost, you CANNOT port your existing number to this sim card.
  • The Sim Expiry date is 04-01-2025. Does that mean I can't recharge that SIM? Do I need to get a new SIM in Jan 2025? Or, does it have to be active before Jan 2025?

    • +2

That's just the expiry that you have to activate it by, you can activate it on 03-01-2025 and your prepaid plan/Sim will be active until 03-01-2026.

  • Is this ok if you are on telstra currently?

  • New to this and looking to get on board. Can a benevolent soul please explain the number porting situation? It says on their website you can port a number in from another telco but i saw something suggesting you can't port from one boost sim to the next to take advantage of these offers year to year whilst maintaining your number?

    • Yeah these aren't recharges, they're only for new customers.. I'm in the same boat, will be overseas when my current expires. I'll just have to recharge I guess? No bonus offer lol

    • The easiest thing to do is to port your current Boost number to another provider (Aldi mobile has a $5 SIM) and then port it back to Boost. You only need to stay on the other provider for a few minutes typically.

      • I did this last year, ported to Vodafone and it was one of the worse experiences I ever had. It took a while to do (I thought it was going to take about 5 minutes) and I recall having to answer tons of questions on the phone. It's the first time I did it. Is it normal for it to take that long?

    • Just port your number to a cheap sim (other network e.g Amaysim), then port back in with this deal.

      • How reliable is this though? I've read issues with people getting their numbers ported back over… And each telco blames the other etc. Def not something I plan to be concerned about while I'm flying overseas lol

        • +1

You need to be carful on porting out and in. For example you may enter your details incorrectly or you may not correctly choose your previous plan “post paid” , or “prepaid” which May restrict your port in. Otherwise had no issues with boost so far.

          • +1

@NPB: I ported 2 Boost numbers out and back within a few minutes in 13 Nov 2023. 1 numbers came back to Boost ok but the other 1 is still unable to port back to Boost. I have been dealing with them every week since Nov and now it is Jan with no resolution. They kept saying their back end is not aligning and IT needs to get involved. Yesterday, IT has finally cleared it but the porting is not going through in their sales department. They kept asking me to get a new $2 Boost sim cards and I have gone through 7 x $2 sim cards since. They always say that they will ring me back with an update or resolution but the call backs were never a successful outcome. They are going to ring me back today with an update but I am not hopeful it will be fixed. Now i am thinking of transfering the number to my partner and see if he is able to port this back to Boost. In the meantime I have spent $230 (1 year sim) on Boost trying to port back to them with no luck. Anyone with any ideas how to break this cycle of unsuccesful porting in and out of Boost would be much appreciated. I am running out of patience!!

            • @he88388: My post from yesterday - you may need to find a proper chat rep or someone.

              +1
The chat loophole has been closed. You will need to call them, make some excuses like you accidently bought a sim instead of recharge. They will activate your sim and port in your number as once off.

BTW My plan expires today, I went to officeworks to price beat Luckymobile.com.au's sale price, the lady at the counter refused to price beat saying lucky mobile did not have the product code therefore they cannot price beat.

Later today, I sat on boost chat and explained that my boost plan was expiring today and was looking cheaper options to recharge. The chat rep offered $45 recharge voucher at first. When i requested if there was more offer to recharge 12 months instead so that i could pay and recharge today. She offered me a once of $230 credit and recharged my plan. A free year plan from boost, Happy Customer.

              • @NPB: Really. You got a free $230 plan for a year? I have not tried that before. You must be very lucky if it's free one year on the boost service. It used to be $150 when I first joined Boost.

              • @NPB: Did you get a $45 credit towards your $230 recharge or did you get a free $230 recharge which is highly unlikely

                • +3

@utsc: I was not expecting to get a whole year’s recharge instead was looking if they can offer some discounts so I could pay lower than $230 instead of taking $45 recharge for 28 days. The lady offered $230 recharge for free.

            • @he88388: In late 2020, I ported 4 numbers to boost. My Kogan to Boost took 2 minutes while mums took 1hr from TPG to Boost. While these two porting were successful and the other two weren't.

              1. My partner spent 10 days waiting bc Optus provided me with 3 different account numbers. Boost was persisitent wanting a different account number for the port to be successful. I had to call and go on live chat so many times as they fed us with so many lies, and the time frame got extended each time. We got rejected by Boost by x3 times. Also had to recharge $40 worth on top of that so he could use the phone while waiting to be ported over. Finally got sick of their shit and complained to TIO ombudsman. Got compensated with 40gbs of data. Would not recommend ever going with an optus $2 simcard ever again…

              2. Dads phone did not port over for 2 weeks, they entered the wrong information when I called to confirm the detail. His previous phone provider (TPG) kept rejecting us even though my dads information was correct. Anyway, I had to complain to TIO ombudsman and it was solved within 2 days.

Contact TIO and put in a complaint if you haven’t.

  • thankyou!!

I've been holding out for some time for another one of these deals.

  • And with every Boost deal, lets ask the same old question. Do I need to port out and in? hahahah

    • Yes you do

  • $179 showing OOS,
    missed it again!

  • Will these work in an iPad or other data-only device?

This one for $187 still in stock.

  • I’m not sure if it’s just my SIM card but has anyone else noticed a significant drop in coverage/signal strength with Boost over the past 6 months? I struggle to get more than 2 bars and hold a FaceTime call (on mobile data) no matter where I am! It’s great value so I’m trying to determine whether it’s a me issue or a network issue

    • I was on Telstra before boost. Regardless of whether they're using 'the full network' or not, the service just doesn't seem quite the same.. But for SIGNIFICANTLY less monthly cost (calculated after upfront payment) I'll deal with it.

But yeah my partner has definitely complained but she was with Vodafone so it's less apples/apples. But I can say it's not as good as when I was on Telstra direct (speed isn't the issue)

    • Do you have a 5g compatible phone? Is it only in one cell tower area or across many areas?
If not 5g, they have probably switched the old frequencies to 5g
If you have 5g but it's just the one tower, might have to report it as an issue to boost/telstra
If it's many towers and you have 5g… Hard to say

      • Hrmm I try using 4g for the most part because iPhone 13 mini + 5g equals 5 minutes battery life 😂

I’ve had Boost for many years and it’s always been excellent and pretty close to my Telstra work mobile service, but I’ve noticed a huge dip (think 1 bar 4g around Castle Hill/Kellyville areas) this year. I didn’t know they were switching most of their service to 5g so I’ll try running with 5g for a bit to see if that fixes things.

  • Can someone break down how this is better value than like a sim only plan?

    • Which sim only plan?

    • Less than $15 a month for a good amount of data on the Telstra network.

    • +2

I assume you mean a monthly plan so you would need to divide by 12.

  • No eSIM Roaming deal is not as good as amaysim

    • It depends what you're looking for. Optus-based MVNOs block WiFi calling from overseas unless you jump through hoops and Amaysim 12-month plans don't include 5G whereas Boost does. I'd prefer those features over eSIM, but everyone's needs are dififerent.

  • 192$ here I Was able to pricematch two at OW

With 5% off and 5% NRMA gift card comes down to $173.28 plus Flybuys

But NRMA gift cards not accepted via phone, have to go to store and add card to digital wallet

Back in stock, and Officeworks just price beat for me instore too, taking it to just over $170.

  • +1

Just transferred my existing boost service with a new sim no (keeping my same mob no) via Boost chat (via app) without any issues. Saved time vs having to port out and then back in.

    • What did you say to them for them to do this? Just got a new sim today

      • +3

Went to support > chat and then said I'd like some help with activation. Then when the agent came online I said I'd like to add a new prepaid pack (pre-purchased) to an existing Boost service. Then I just confirmed with them that I wanted to keep my number and add a new prepaid pack that I had bought.

        • +1

Thank you, this worked for me today. Just FYI the rep told me it's the wrong way to do a recharge and that doing it multiple times will flag my Account. I've done it once before though and it's gone through OK this time anyway, but YMMV.
