[NSW] EGO LM1703E 56V 5.0Ah 420mm Cordless Brushless Lawn Mower Kit $604.20 (In-Store) @ Tools Warehouse

1360

I've been looking for a deal on an EGO mower and I think this is the best bang for buck I've seen for a while as this is selling at total tools for $899 at the moment. Kit includes the mower, blower, 5.0Ah battery and fast charger as well as an ego hat. Comes in quite a large box so be prepared to have a bit of room in your car or just take the box apart and put the pieces in like I did. Happy hunting!

NB. The price will come up as $679.20 initially, but tools warehouse have a deal on where if you spend more than $500, you get 75 back.

Update: Out of stock online. Store pickups only.

        • Where did you get a new 6ah battery? Is it a knockoff?

The extra torque of bigger batteries make a huge difference with longer grass and lower cuts.

I’ve got a 7.5ah, 5ah and 2.5ah. I don’t even try with the single series 2.5 anymore and the 7.5 is visibly better than the 5.

          • @UncleRico: Usa has more models of everything including batteries 6ah must be new though as it only seems to come with the pressure washer

Complaining that an electric mower isn't giving you the close cut you want is like complaining your new Wera bit driver isnt sinking 16" lag bolts.

Any lawn buff should know a petrol mower will get a lower cut.

Any lawn aficionado will know having multiple mowers will get the closest cut (cylinder + rotary mower………. + scarifier + aerator + seeder + roller + + + … )

All about understanding what the right tool for the job is.

    • I’m all for decarbonising and the benefits of electric, but for a product that costs top dollar I feel like this is an undue number of compromises. I suspect I’ll be hanging onto a petrol mower for a while longer.

@MaxStinge "I’m all for decarbonising and the benefits of electric….."

You do understand the environmental and human impact of mining, producing, distributing, charging, disposing of battery based products right?

        • this made me think about how much fuel I use per year in a mower. I would guess its 6-8L last year. I didnt mow for 2 months straight in winter and there would have been some tapering off going into it.

I did push some mows before xmas to 3 weeks, it needed to be done 2x per week to look neat/trimmed but at 3 weeks it was a pretty tough mow, ever seen buffalo nearly knee height lol

Uh oh! Some virtue signaller likes to neg the truth when exposed.

  • I have a 47cm SP and a 52cm non SP, the latter bought from the recent Sydney Tools $649 deal. I have a 1200 sqm block plus a huge country town nature strip. The 52cm one is for the nature strip. I have had two chargers and one 5Ah battery replaced under warranty. Luckily I bought locally. 42cm is really small. Would work for a small suburban block. Otherwise bigger is better…….
My yard is too rough to worry about the quality of the cut. It goes low enough and looks good enough for me. Factor in the need to borrow or buy an impact wrench when you first change the blade, the bolts are factory tightened.

    • I think the thing that frustrates me the most is they could be so much better. I have discussed this with numerous industry people who agree. Maybe the humble petrol mower was developed by people who mowed lawns and the ego mowers by engineers who have people mow their lawn for them.

      • if a ICE needs more power/torque its pretty simple to increase bore size for manufactures and the user may not even notice much difference in run time. If you have a honda with a governor a small tweak can yield good gains

When you increase the base speed of an electric mower when your battery is measured in minutes any drop is noticeable. If you keep the base rpm the same but increase the load target speed it draws even more amps which means even less run time. Its the balancing act of power vs "run time". Then there is degredation of the battery

I still choose to run 2 mowers, 36v ryobi with no catcher for a slower growing area and a victa/honda for an area that is much thicker and grows faster and use the catcher for the compost. If I use the battery mower on the thick grass, I have to stop and charge part way and it kinda struggles a bit too, so for me if I had to have one mower, it would have to be petrol still

    • Wow - thanks! Where did they all spring up from? Hopefully they prove to be reliable and their arrival onto the market will help drive down the price of the genuine batteries too.

Really tempted to try one of the 9Ah batteries to see how it performs in my Select Cut, but know that generic batteries from China can be very hit and miss. Might wait for a decent EBay plus coupon code before pulling the trigger.

    • Do you need a battery pressure washer? Are you close to a water source but not a power source? What are you using it for?

1.2gpm is pretty low and im guessing this will cost a pretty penny.

  • What is the pro and cons of this over a good petrol mower?

    • +1

      Pros

      No petrol filling
      No having to buy petrol
      Lighter

      Cons

      Prob less torque
      Heat can wreck battery
Well maintained petrol prob have longer life

  • Is this Self-Propelled?
Edit- found out the answer is no

    • Can you share what that features does and if it is a must have?

  • Smithfield is sold out.

    • Yeah called seconds after they sold out. Disappointed I missed this deal!

  • Wont ever purchase from tools warehouse. They sell products they dont stock, not send items and then refuse to respond.

  • Anyone know how this compares to the Ozito steel deck electric? Pretty happy with the Ozito overall but could use something stronger for the size of my current lawn, preferably without going to petrol.

  • I managed to get Sydney tools to match the price on the website of $679.20 in Brisbane. Now i just need to get the line trimmer.

  • Anyone wants to on sell the mower please send me a PM. Thanks!

  • I just got the ego lm1703e for$589 from sydney tools.

          • @AaronR: lol yeah would love to know! Might give it a try on the weekend haha

        • woudlnt happen to have your Syd Tools receipt to share would you?

        • Don't with Duezgael! No correspondence whatsoever after purchase! Fell for the $195 DEWALT TOUGHSYSTEM 2.0 3-IN-1 TOOL CASE KIT DWST83402-1. THeir mobile number is permanently busy! The only time they responded via email was before my purchase when i asked why the business pop is a sydney house and asked if they were a legit business. Basically told me its a small dispatch and operational centre.

  • Are you after the mower still?

  • This is a good deal - but keep in mind they do come up from time to time so don't be too devo if you missed out - I picked one up for $499 as part of this deal: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/817771 (I went to collect the actual item in the Ozb listing but the kit per todays listing was also on sale when I arrived so I took it instead)

    • which Stratco store did you visit? in NSW?
