    strangely attractive design

kind of capt. willard mixed with lunar pilot

    • I've seen it in person & it wears small so don't be fooled by the 41mm diameter.

It would be good for people with skinny wrists.

    • +2

I have one from a previous Starbuy deal. Heck of a lot of watch for the chump change it’s going for. Great lume too. Sapphire and a better bracelet would be great but $149?? Crazy good deal.

    • I find most citizens unduly large and garish—but I quite like this one.

    • +2

Looks good on a colourful rubber strap and a NATO strap too

    • That citizen crono CA7040-85E looks great for $149.
Strap monster.. does look big but I'm sure if would wear well. Sold out anyway (so that makes the decision easier)

I hope you picked one up @watchnerd.

Who's this maverick doing video reviews…

  • +3

I'm diggin' the Kmart wristclock for some odd reason. The blue hands is a weird touch too..

    • I have it! Wears big but I'm a fan. Works great with other straps as well. $100 cheaper than what I got it for too. Sapphire glass for $199 is a steal.

  • +1

I really like the NJ0130-88A but I already bought the blue $999 Oris and the $149 sapphire seiko…maybe I return the seiko and keep the citizen! Ah decisions…or just buy the citizen and keep all 3, such killer prices.

    • So do I for some strange reason..

      • +1

I think it’s the blue hands on the ivory dial, it’s a nice touch…

        • I think the blue hands are also weird though, but in all of it's complete weirdness, I kinda like it..

Also, which $150 sapphire Seiko did you get? 😵

  • Thoughts on the Bulova Precisionist X 98B357? That 262khz movement. Must.. have..
    Wears big?

    • I wear slightly bigger (44-46mm) on my 7" wrist.
It's possibly the greatest affordable quartz movement, so far ++.

Comes down to styling, and I'm not on board with it!

Want to try and say all that again 😅?
Sorry if you're typing this on your watch.

Analogues watches are for people who are not slaves to notifications.

Don't forget to charge the watch tonight lol :D

    • Cool story bro!

Nice watches. I would have bought one but too bad the seller left me a sour experience. If I share this deal with family members they would definitely buy some. But I will not deal with these guys again.

    • +1

      Care to share your experience?

    • +1

Yeah what was so bad about them?

      🎻

    • Any bad experience with Starbuy must surely be anomalous. This is the first negative I've seen, so please forgive our curiosity and elaborate further!

    • I’ve bought 10+ watches from starbuy and always had the best customer service. They are one of the best online sellers around. If you have an issue try to resolve it.

I bought 4 watches about 10 months ago and returned one of them as a change of mind. They rejected and claimed that watch was damaged.
Since first receiving the watch, it never left its box and only once when trying it on. The manager was too peasant and going back and forth for more than couple of weeks for $230 watch. After coming back from overseas, I continued the dispute, lodged a charge back and complaint to fair trading.

Bank gave me refund but not under charge back. After getting the watch, I could not find the damage when I inspected it the same way I first opened the package. I carefully looked for details and found a really small dent. The dent looked more like being grinded/sanded by Grinder and not from dropping. Mind you, our home is fully carpeted and rugged. So even if I accidentally drop it, it won't make a dent either.

      • It does look damaged.
I'm pretty sure starbuy would inspect the watches before shipping when they are doing the warranty card.

Very tempted for the blue and gold eco drives, the prices are crazy cheap. My only problem is the wife finding out due to all the ridiculous things bought through ozbargain lately.

  • +2

Is the Fugu at $299 extremely good value or are there major differences with the other variations?

    • Yes it's a very good price. Cheapest ever posted.

    • Grab it (and search on Ozbargain)

    • This one has the previous generation movement (8203) which doesn't hack. However, it is reputedly more accurate than the current generation movement (8204), so choose your poison.

Either way, if you like the colour and style then there is no downside to owning a Fugu.

    Shitter alert 🚨

  • Hell yeah didn’t know they made the Ana-digi any more and was only just recently trawling the internet for expensive second hand damaged ones and AliExpress knockoffs. This is fantastic.

So annoyed I missed this one. Oh well, I clicked Notify on the SB page which is now 404 :o

    • How did you miss it? You saw the post at 13/01/2024 - 00:30.

      What about the blue dial?

      • +1

        I saw, I voted, I snoozed, I loozed.
Saw the blue. Heaps dearer though.

        • You snooze you lose as they say!

          • @G-rig: Ahh get outa here you smug fella!

            • @Speckled Jim: I didn't get one either, nor that really good Citizen Crono for $149
Sometimes you have to just hit that button quickly pal!

    • +3

It's a ripper watch Jim. Sorry you missed out.

Mine was delivered this morning. As expected the bracelet has more rattles than a millionaires baby but I had a two tone 20mm rubber that suits perfectly. The orange under the strap matches the chrono hand tip. The pushers are a bit flimsy but I won't be using them any time soon. The sunburst on the subdials catches the light nicely. It also looked good on an olive sailcloth strap as well.

I'm going to wear this until last night's $10 rolex submariner quartz turns up.

      • It's beautiful 😭

        Mabruk!

      • +2

        Looks great on that strap.

        • More than any other Eco right now, that one draws me in (the black one).
          One day…?
