I Forgot to Pick up My Domino’s Pre-Order

Hey guys, I am sure most of you would have seen and used this SB deal (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/824167) posted last last Wed. Following the comments in the post for more savings, I made a pre-order for 2-for-1 pizza Tues for the following week.

However, I got busy with a new job and I made a big boo boo and forgot to pickup my Domino’s pre-order (yes I know!) ☹️

Is there anything I can do to get my pizzas and/or save this deal? Would really appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.

Yes , but how to get someone to sell to me at 2010 prices? I'm only asking.

        • Op, probably
  • OP has bargain OCD?

I ordered a Boost juice through their app once, but didn't notice I had the wrong store selected…

I didn't try and collect my juice a week later… I made a mistake and lived with it…

I know this is related to Dominoes but Pizza Hut store manager was very nice to offer to make my order the following Tue (2 for 1) when I forgot to pick up prior week. I thought I called and try my luck and the manager was cool about it. Just be polite, honest and thank them whatever the outcome as they are not obligated.

[Edited] Taking nothing away from his generosity, but that's a combination of your "you attract more flies with honey" approach and having the guts to just ask without expectation; his discretionary power to offer promotional freebies, and having business sense to offer it to someone returning to the two-for-one to positively reinforce your perception of the Tuesday deal. But he chose to give it to you. Most small business operators will reward good customers, but despise tightwads (they have a smell to them).

I'm not saying OP is a tightwad. He's just asking a simple question. But. It's a long way from the "contractual liability" or loophole the OP may have been hoping to exploit.

      Thank you for this tip.

For C&C orders, stores like JB and Target email you to confirm once it's collected.

Domino and other food apps could do the same. Can't see why these food apps haven't had a reminder setting already.

Meanwhile, 99% of the comments don't want/need that kind of setting yet. Good survey!

      Oh yeah?

Go through the comments in this thread looking for some heavily negged posts.

    • After working in retail before, nothing surprises me anymore

  • I think it’s in the bin at the back of the store. Go and collect it. Easy peasy.

    • More likely consumed by the employees and flushed by now. At least that's how it worked in the 90s.

  • No-one forgets? There's a lot of high-horses in the comments.

Personally I almost forgot, checked my email, app - nothing there showing I had an order except a paypal receipt. Notifications for pre-orders could be used either by the app or OP.

I agree. They should set some sort of notification on the app or send email notification.

I would have thought your stomach would have reminded you at some point…

Forgetting isn't the issue. It's forgetting (which is Ops own mistake) and wanting others to wear the cost/be responsible for it.

Everyone forgets, but most aren't childish after.

Sometimes I have forgotten my pickup at Pizza Hut but the latest I have collected is one hour after the pick up time, the employee will give you the pizza as is and won't remake a new one just because you came late

Making a pizza is a labour of love and they don't get over a no show easily.

This will go on your permanent Dominos record.

It is much like a credit score and is visible across the dominos network. You won't allowed to order again unless you send in a groveling apology to the CEO and make good with the affected staff at the store.

    What a cheap life lesson….

  • You're not missing out on anything. Had the most dissapointing order with them (hardly any toppings to be found and tasteless) recently after skipping them for about 18 months.

    • +1

That sums up a normal/typical Dominos experience.

      • hmm … idk, it used to be not this terrible 2-3 years back. But now yeah nah.

        • Each store varies. My local one has been excellent. I remember once ordering a cheese pizza from different store and it was pretty much a dough pizza with a few speckles of cheese on it lol.

@Windows7forever: Yeah and also at times same place gets taken over by different people that ruins it. My local nandos / dominos and couple other joints have sadly succumbed to this.

  • did you forget to eat your lunch or dinner that day? you have saved yourself from 2-3k calories.

Crazy diamond can return the pizza back into raw ingredients, no food is wasted

  • +1

TIL you can order that far out on Dominos.

A reminder would be good, however I would not discount personal accountability.

You can setup reminders on your phone. Have to be memory independent these days and yes a reminder from the app would be good, but there are other ways.

    Not missing much from Dominos.

They should be sending out a message or email to remind that your order is ready. If they don’t, then that’s a bit dodgy too!

    • +1

Ideally a reminder message would have been helpful. But I wouldn't call them dodgy even if they don't send it, it's not like they gain anything from it and purposefully want you to miss the pickup.

That said, if the system can tell the shop to start making a pizza, then it is just as easy to send a reminder to the customer. So putting this one into poor customer experience basket.

Dodgy in the sense that they have left out this feature intentionally. Because this wouldn’t have been the first time someone forgot to pick up and it won’t be the last time. It would be just as easy as a click of a mouse for them to turn on the feature.

The forgotten pizzas are most likely taken home by employees or managers also. Unless they are fed up of eating their own pizzas.

        • A lot of assumptions there… so Dominos created a system that doesn't have reminders so their employees can take home pizzas?

Mate if I was working there… I would be making a custom pizza. Last time I worked in a food joint, I never had anything that was on the menu. One of the perks of the job, I wouldn't be taking some customers food when I can have something that I made.

They can't do a makeup deal, and they shouldn't, otherwise it will just open for abuse.

However, they should improve their system to send reminders.

Understand customers can set their own reminders, however, for better customer experience, the system should be more proactive.
