The Oswald Maximum Security Prison has opened an experimental new ward reserved for especially dangerous criminals. This unit, Emerald City, focuses on rehabilitation, but the world inside is even more corrupt and violent than the mean streets where these inmates come from. Inside the walls there are also two sets of rules, those laid down by the warden and those understood by the racially divided prisoners.

This HBO series, full of gritty and violent imagery, deftly handles some sensitive issues of the American justice system. This collection gathers together the first six seasons of the show, which has proved to be one of the most popular and long-running dramas in HBO's history.

Alvarez up to no good. This show is crazy good!

I've never watched Oz, but by it's reputation I've got a few guesses:

      • Receiving oral from someone he's physically threatening
      • Clutching a wound from a shiv
      • Playing one of those mini-grand pianos
    • "What is the guy doing on the poster? Looks not good…"

after watching (and quite liking) the show many times through….. your probably not far wrong :)

    • He's thinking "so THIS is what lzwdavid's mum looks like"

  • Damn I used to love this show!

No, not because of all the bumming…

blu ray would be 10x better…

don't hold your breath for it.

Shot on 16mm film so it's definitely possible. However, like Smallville all editing and special effects is probably not good enough for blu-ray so they would have to take the footage from film and completely redo it. Would surely cost a lot.

I love, love, love this show. HBO, baby!

Just a heads up, This is worth $184 at JB HiFi or 6 x $26 to buy individual seasons (yes it actually works out cheaper to buy them seperate) or $127 at Amazon. So this seems to be alot more of a bargin then at first glance and definetly tempting!

    • That's because the complete set is better than the original season box sets put together.

      • How so?

Also I jsut did another quick search to read that the region 2 versions of this show DONT have extras or special features, I read this on amazon and wikipedia so I am unsure how credible these claims are, Zavii does say there are multipul special features, has anyone got this particular box set to confirm?

And does anyone know any good codes Zavii may have at the moment that might make this even more of a bargin?

Grab Deadwood while you're at it for $21: http://www.zavvi.com/dvd/deadwood-ultimate-collection-season…

  • Man-cuddles FTW!

  • I love this show so much. I've got the single seasons with no special features. This is almost worth it.

  • Sorry guys…from the description I can't tell whether this is reality or fictional drama.

    Sounds reality.

    • +5

      This isn't reality.

This is OZ. <pushes tsuanmisurfer into the shower cubicle>

  • any voucher code for new account?

    • +3

If its your 1st order with Zavvi, you can also use the code ZV15745793 to save another $3/5% off the order.

      • doesnt work
The discount code you entered is invalid or not applicable to the contents of your basket.

        • Copied from http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/82601 (Jabba the hutt)
Note if you're going to use the first order code, it needs to be entered as the 'referral' code during signup. I overlooked this during my initial attempt to order the Clint Eastwood set - the code won't apply during the checkout process even if it's your first order.

        Worked for me thanks.

  • Quality from HBO.
    Confronting drama - fantastic writing.

I paid about $50 a season years ago when the series was only available in the USA.

The quality of the DVD transfer was questionable, but with drama this good, picture quality doesn't matter.
