    Just grabbed 🍿. I'm ready

      • +7

But what if I get covid through my eyes ?

        • +18

You wont get C19 through your eyes but you could get aids through your ears, that's why these headphones are hearing aids.
If you're scared about C19 in your eyes, just don't look at C19, you should be ok.

      • +1

These definitely do nothing to stop the spread of airborne infections; if anything, they're worse than nothing because they shoot air into your face.

      • +4

I'm not sure if you are being sarcastic, bit they absolutely do not offer 100% protection from COVID. In fact, they don't even create a sealed environment around your nose and mouth like masks do. At best it's an air purifier, but certainly offered little protection from airborne viruses.

        • +2

I think it's more for people who do a lot of bottom burps around you.

          • +2

@[Deactivated]: And if you're kinky you can remove the filters and get blasted with farty air.

              @banana365: I go 1 further, I snort cut cheese.
Blue, FETA, Gorgonzola, cheddar, coon, all the greats.

                @[Deactivated]: That's not kinky, that's perverted.

(used to have a weekend job in a deli, I grew to loathe blue cheeses)

Wonder why this wasn't canned but dyson car was

    • +1

To think that they announced this right around April 1 and everyone though this was hilarious and not believable as a joke and they legit launched it, is wild…

Kinda glad they didn’t waste resources on a car.

    • +8

Because the car was too uncomfortable to wear on your face

  • +18

They would have to pay me $699 to wear this.

    • You're cheap, at least 3x that for me. I takes at least 4 figures for me to dispose of my dignity.

    • +2

They actually had to run an open callout page on their website for content creators and influencers to test it last month. They are desperate.

  • +27

Quote from OP: "These are the new popular trend people been talking about and wearing all over the streets replacing beats headphones as these have a air purifier built in and looks pretty neat."

🤣 Nice try. OzBargain isn't a Til Tok style 'Digital Marketing' site.

Utter junk. I'm not quite sure what Dyson were thinking. Well, maybe I'm being a bit harsh. The headphone component isn't supposed to be totally awful. $600 worth? I highly doubt it.

    • -4

Good for rich people living in china/india

      • Why on earth is this downvoted? The pollution there (in many big cities) is a genuine health issue.

  • +1

I am sure there will be more price cuts to come

    • Yep, fire sale here we come!

  • +1

Any comments on the sound quality?

    • +7

It suxs like the rest of their range

    • +1

From combining when I listened to them with the reviews I have read. Considering they are made by Dyson, who are not an audiophile company, they are surprisingly good. Does that mean they are worth $699? I don't think so. Maybe $300-400 price range headphones. There are much better headphones in the $699 range e.g. Hifiman Sundara or Sennheiser HD 660s.

    • Sounds like their popular fans?

      • +1

        Loud at F$%^?

    • +7

Awful sound quality by all reports. If they had been comparable with $200 wired and $400 ANC headphones, this price might be palatable in China or a city that's struggling with pollution, but that's a strategy that's robbing Peter to pay Paul unless your grid is green.

Save yourself $300+ and support political causes and candidates that help reduce pollution and invest in STEM developments that produce opportunities and technologies that deliver these outcomes.

  • +2

These would have sold like cakes if introduced before covid vaccines were invented. Too late

      • +8

Doesn't matter, it's the confidence. People were scared initially and was willing to spend a lot to protect from covid

      • +3

        Extremely.

                • -3

@Spendmore: Hasn’t the government even changed their mantra? Why are t you following their advice? unless you’re over 75?

Oh. And the majority don’t get “boosters”

                  • +1

@Danstar: During WW2 the majority of people called up went to war knowing they may not return, doing it for the greater good of the community. When covid came around we got the vax, yes un proven and we all had hesitation as an educated person would but ultimately we rolled the dice for the greater good of the community and hoped for the best. A minority didn't and they seem to have trouble living with this decision. How about you count yourself lucky things didnt go as bad as we feared and get over it….go back and enjoy the privileged life we all enjoy.

                    • -7

@Spendmore: Comparing a war to a minor cold (for most) is really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

                      • @Danstar: You missed the point completely., but really it's not unexpected.
People like you are in it for themselves.

                  • +2

@Danstar: I know this is difficult to follow along with, but things are MASSIVELY different now to three years ago, so why WOULDN'T advice have changed?

                    This isn't a complex idea.

                    • @mickeyjuiceman: Are they? What’s different ?

Nothing has changed since the vaccines have been out and people have been jabbed multiple times. Only thing I’ve really noticed that’s changed is; you’re seeing a lot more athletes dropping from heart issues randomly.

                      • @Danstar: Obviously you only follow what narrative suits your agenda. The virus has weakened substantially compared to the initial strains…try keep up mate.

                        • -1

@Spendmore: That’s because the majority has now clued on and realised how stupid they were for blindly following what the govt and msm were saying. I mean they still try report how bad covid is, but it’s no longer a story and doesn’t bring in the $$$ like it did 3 years ago

                          • -1

@Danstar: You really havent a clue, thats just main stream media cluthing at anything to make news, normal people ignore it like the stories that we are on the verge of WW3 etc.
You guys aren't normal and certainly arent part of the majority or sheeple as you like to call us.

                            • @Spendmore: Yet you blindly followed everything that was reported when It all started and literally trying to justify it now knowing how stupid and wrong you were?

                • @Spendmore: one of us one of us……

          • -5

@Danstar: I feel you bro. People won't ever say they were wrong, or accept the facts. Dont waste your energy

            • +1

              @serbpie: How ironic.

              • @Spendmore: In response to "facts"? There was no scientific evidence it would stop the spread, yet all of the marketing convinced everyone it would.. then it was quietly rebranded to slow the spread, and now dropped all together. Manufacturers have since admitted it was never tested to stop transmission. Another fact, only very specific side affects are accepted as adversely caused by the vaccine, thousands of Australians are struggling with on going side affects with no financial help for medical costs due to fine print.

Fact. I've had covid once, I didnt vax, i was supposedly at risk, I had to do a test to know I was positive.

Doctors and scientists have always questioned papers and studies, thats exactly what science is meant to be, but when it came to covid and vaccinations, anyone who dare question was ostracized.

There more negs, the more my point is proven.

      • +9

        Vaccine efficacy:
        - extremely effective in preventing death and severe symptoms
        - moderately effective at prevent any symptoms at all
        - not very effective at preventing transmission.

Efficacy decreases over time, so getting a booster shot 6 months after last booster / infection will help keep up your protection.

          • +12

@Danstar: Absolutely incorrect. No doubt it saved lives by reducing the severity of the illness. By it doing so it also reduced the morbidity of the illness which most keyboard warriors don’t think about

              • +1

@Danstar: No. I saw it on the front lines and saw the higher percentage of death and morbidity in the unvaccinated population. You can have a look through my post history. I don’t hide the fact that I’m an ICU doctor.

                • -3

                  @flashi007:

                  I’m an ICU doctor

Even worse coming from an ICU Dr. How about the lives that were affected by the vaccine. The people that were forced to either retire or go on pension due to cardio or neuro side effects of vaccine. The people that died from thromboemboletic events from the vaccine .

Im sure if AHPRA didnt have you on a leash in terms of discussing the vaccine in a negative manner , you would have a different opinion.

                  • +2

@easternculture: I can tell you that anecdotally, the sickest people with COVID in our ICU were the unvaccinated. That was either by their own choice or the fact they couldn't get the vaccine due to a weakened immune system. These were the ones who had the most prolonged admissions, the highest rates of intubation and highest rates of death. This is what I saw while working with this population over the last 3 years.

The other thing that was obvious is the rate of ICU admission dropped once the vaccine was introduced, and fewer percentage of people needed intubation and advanced life support. It was quite a successful campaign in that it improved protection against the virus in both the vaccinated and unvaccinated population, however it did not change the fact that those who weren't vaccinated were more likely to need ICU, more likely to need intubation, more likely to need prolonged ICU stay, more likely to have severe morbidity and more likely to die.

Take from that what you want - I'm just letting you know what I saw with my own eyes.

Ive got no judgement on the decision to force staff away who didn't want to be vaccinated. We lost a lot of good staff in my unit, many my friends, but I can see a benefit to the community to not have unvaccinated staff working with the sickest patients in the state given they are more likely to suffer severe disease if COVID positive when compared to the vaccinated staff.

                    • -4

@flashi007: I doubt you are a Dr but ill play.

                      • what are the demographics of the icu admissions with covid? Elderly with 2 or more comorbidities? Obese with comorbidities? Etc.
Well that population would be knocked down by any virus i.e. influenza and be admitted to icu.

                      • why have icu admissions reduced now. Not due to vaccine but because we know more about covid and we are more proactive with the treatments that prevent admissions. We also have more pharma options.

                      • are you aware that the advice from atagi is that only adults aged ≥ 75 years are recommended to be get the vaccine now?

                      • +2

@easternculture: Yea look I’m not sure engaging in an online argument is the answer here. You can easily look up the stuff you’re asking about (in general terms) and I’m not about to waste time diving into the numbers of our unit to answer questions that are irrelevant to what I was saying. I was just mentioning what I saw during the height of the pandemic.

                        • -3

@flashi007: Dont worry, ive worked in public hospitals in senior management positions and i know ICU patient statistics so you can try spreading mis-information elsewhere

                          • +1

@easternculture: Senior management in public hospitals? That explains it all… waste of money and space.

                            • -1

@flashi007: Same as Drs who sleep most of the night, then rush to do their rounds at 530am before the boss comes in.

            • +1

@flashi007: The other significant factor is that doctors now have experience treating COVID and have access to antivirals. But lower morbidity shouldn't be a reason to avoid vacation.

Our hospital system is under enough stress at moment, so it doesn't need preventable admissions.

              • -3

@mathew42: Even the government don’t advise people to get the vaccines anymore ?

        • Is it still killing people though?

        • and also extremely effective at:
          ….causing potential myocarditis
          ….causing potential blood clots
          ….causing potential strokes
          ….causing potential sudden deaths
….causing a potential decrease in life expectancy

      • -1

        100% safe! 100% effective!

…..it said so on the news!

    • There is still no vaccine that prevents transmission or contraction of the virus

  • Close to 100% of the people on the trains in Brisbane are wearing these. It is amazing how quickly people took to them.

Look, if the thing works, I can see potential in the likes of Hong Kong and major Chinese Cities. Remember before Covid 19, it was not entirely unusual to see people in China, Hong Kong and Korea, and by extension here in Sydney and Melbourne wearing Surgical or KF94 masks in public due to pollution.
I don't see it taking off in Australia though in the domestic retail market as it looks too ridiculous. That said for the healthcare industry, if it is proven to be effective and gains TGA approval it could be a good product: For example people who have respiratory issues or are immunocompromised.

    • There's absolutely zero seal. It blows air through the mouth bar in your general direction. There's no cup / mask inside that bar. Nothing. The filters (it draws in through the ear pieces) are not rated.

  • -2

please check the review. the sound quality is surprisingly good.
