if you are going to learn chinese, then try "the Lion-Eating Poet in the Stone Den" first then decide if you want to continue.

  • Android 12, still says made for older version. How old?

    • Android 13, still says "No eligible devices"

I'll just wait a few more years for it to become the mandatory lingua franca here. The lessons will be free.

  • Chinese is the language I told myself I should learn. But I wonder if I'm too old to learn a second language now. And we'll probably have Blade Runner style translators soon enough yeah?

    • Mandarin is really only worth learning if you work in business, particularly importing from China. Or if you work at a University given the large number of overseas students.

Maybe China will end up conquering the world and Mandarin will replace English as the dominant language. China has become so powerful over just a few decades, I wonder where they will be in 2050.

      • I'd like a Chinese husband I think, though I guess beggars can't be choosers…

        • Chinese people seem more motivated to succeed than other ethnic groups in the 21st century. I saw a photo of students from a selective school in Sydney recently, and almost all of them were Han Chinese (+ 1 Indian, 1 Middle-easterner and 1 Aboriginal, no Caucasians).

          • Update to my original comment: Mandarian is also useful fro entrepreneurs who want to offshore production to China, understandable since everything is so expensive in Australia and there are so many regulations for businesses to comply with.
