Not a bad phone in my experience. Camera is trash though. There is a bit of touching issue. But, it's probably just mine.

      does it have a gyroscope?

      • +5

Why would someone downvote this? It's a valid question.

  • +1

Basic phone at a budget price.

    • Does it have a gyroscope?

  • MediaTek Dimensity 700 – an 8-core chipset that was announced on November 10, 2020, and is manufactured using a 7-nanometer process technology. It has 2 cores Cortex-A76 at 2200 MHz and 6 cores Cortex-A55 at 2000 MHz.

That sounds pretty good - battery efficient

    • +1

A Snapdragon 695 has similar / better battery efficiency, but I would think the screen type would be the biggest factor.

    • Long as you're only into light gaming and don't mind some games not running on it at all (well official versions)

  • Good deal if your in the market for a cheap phone.

  • +1

Any recommendation for cheap phones with eSIM?

  • does it have a gyroscope?

    • +2

      No

  • G14 or this?

    • I am also thinking the same, and leaning towards G14.

      • +4

For the love of all that is holy. Get the g54.

Why even bother with a phone in 2024 with 4gb ram and t6 chipset.

    • +2

G14 or if you can afford it G54.

    • g14 appears to have bigger battery, newer Android. It's also only $28 more. What makes this TCL a better buy?

      • 5G, faster processor and refresh rate

  • +1

Looks a lot better than what was available a few years back for budget phones. Some of those things would struggle with a UI that was responsive enough for basic phone calls.

    • +1

      Those were dark days

  • WELCOME5 is apparently an invalid code?

  • +1

It only has a 720x1600 screen with 4gb ram and has no AAC or APTX audio codecs and only 10W charging. Spend a bit more and get something decent like a Moto G54.

    • +3

Agree, I just got a G54 today as a backup phone. After setting it up and having a play, I have to say its about as good as my G82. It really is close.

      • But it has no dual nano sims though……

  • It has a charger in the box, headphone jack, and a sim ejector tool?!
    Absolutely sign me up

    • +2

      But no gyroscope.

  • Oh. I just missed it. Any similar recommendations?

    • With or without gyroscope?

      • I don't know what is a gyroscope.

        • it's needed for autorotate and some games need it.

it may have a pseudo gyro but that is very delayed

      • +3

If only I could remove the gyroscope from my phone.
        And the light sensor.

        They only cause problems.

        • Hey Juz,

Can you not deactivate those things?

          • @GnarlyKnuckles: Nah. So annoying during a call when you want to use the phone and the screen keeps turning off just because you've had it near your face at one point and it's gone into Psycho turn off mode to avoid unintentional touches on the touchscreen by your face

        • +1

Just don't move it, or use during daylight hours.

          You'll be fine.

  • Could make for a useful 5G mobile router, can even connect Ethernet via the USB-C port (which is only USB 2.0, but still pretty good)
