  • Sexy looking watch

  • Does the 3 year warranty cover the initial battery longevity?

Fair question, these 262kHz movements are known to use more energy as they’re driving three crystals at a much higher frequency. IIRC, the expected battery life is 2-3 years instead of the usual 5+ you get with most quartz. I’ll have to check the warranty certificate on my other Lunar Pilot when I get home.

    • …and, nope, battery is not covered. Didn’t think so, but now it’s confirmed.

    No steel bracelet
    Quartz
    13.5mm thickness
    50mm water resistance

for $799 isnt really anything special.

    • agreed - the mini in the last deal is the sweet spot

        Quartz

It's a 262 kHz quartz movement. They're accurate to within +/- 10 seconds per year and have the same continuous second hand sweep like an automatic movement.
They're really the best of both the quartz and automatic worlds.

Though as Astronaut Joe mentioned below, the second hand on this model is only used for the chronograph.

I'm not saying quartz movement is bad.

          But not for that amount.

I might as well get a G Shock for 1/8 of the price and can take a beating with 200m water rating.

            It's not your run-of-the-mil $50 quartz movement.
High-frequency quartz movements command a premium because of their longevity, build quality, far better accuracy and smooth hand movement. It's the same with automatics.

Lol, what an apples and bowling balls comparison.
Yes, I could also buy a F-91W or a SKMEI copy for less than almost any watch on the market and it'll still tell the time. I could also buy a crappy MG 3 that'll get me from A to B just fine instead of a Bugatti Chiron; what's your point?

Different buyers want different watches. Just because you don't understand the niche that this watch serves doesn't mean other people won't.

@SpeedRunnerLink: Remind us of how much a titanium G-Shock costs…

What bugs me about this is that you get the nice 262kHz movement but paired with a stationary chronograph second hand. So you don't get to enjoy that nice smooth second hand sweep unless the chrono is running. You don't even get any joy from the seconds subdial, the hand there does two ticks per second so it isn't smooth.

This is why I bought the recent Bulova Jet Star release. So smooooooooth.

I got the Jet Star LE and it's great

      • I have a mini lunar pilot which looks better in the skin than the reviews.
And I was in the market for Red dial watch and had my eye on the Precisionist.
        Beautiful!

  • I hope you pulled the pin.. 😅

I remember your comment last week or the week before about pulling the pin if the gold one dropped below 1k.. 😅

Heh…It was nearly 10:30 before I put the deal up, guess what I was doing prior to posting?

      • Probably on your bank account, running the numbers, working out how many you can broden? 🤣 iKid, nice find though, DEEPACK probably missed your comment about $999 because you got a $200 bonus. 😁

I checked the clearance page and these are not appearing but it's a limited run of only 5000 worldwide, so I daresay they've been hanging around long enough and Deepak wants to make the space.

          • @Chazzozz: Damn..

But can't he still do what he normally does and regularly put those watches on sale, for slightly cheaper in a month or two..? 😅 Good for you though! 😁
