Biggest Amazon Return with "There's No Need to Return Your Item. Your Refund Has Been Issued"

Wonder what the most expensive item you have returned to amazon for a refund (either faulty or change of mind etc) where they issued a refund without the need to return it? I had my first one this week with an $8 audio cable that i ordered the wrong size of.

Ordered the 4 pack camera tplink deal but received just 1 camera. Raised issue with Amazon and they said refund without returning.

On Kogan, bought a king size bed frame for around $200, they were offering free shipping as well last Black Friday. The bed frame came in 3 seperate boxes, they managed to deliver one of the boxes to the wrong address. After a few weeks they managed to deliver everything but one of the spare part that connects the support was missing.

Raise issue with Kogan and they refunded the $$ asking me to get rid of the bed frame. Bought the spare part off eBay and got a free king size bed frame.

  • I purchased a trolley for my parents so they can put their shopping in. It buckled on its maiden voyage and Amazon asked me to return it but Australia Post refused to accept it because it was too large (yes it was collapsed). I cut the trolley into several pieces using the drop saw and put it in a tidy little box. Still got the money back.

  • $260 Ledger Nano X during the last scandal citing security reasons for not wanting to return it.

  • i purchased a 1080p portable projector. i requested refund as the resolution is like 480p
got a refund and seller said dont need to send it back.
I paid $100 for it back then.

this was about 4 years ago

  • Not Amazon, but ordered a Dell gaming laptop for about 2k. It said 1-2 weeks delivery. After about 4 weeks, it still hadn't been delivered, so I contacted them to cancel the order. A week later, it arrived. I contacted them to ask how do I send it back…. But they responded by saying: yes the ordered has been cancelled. Nothing since, and it's been 2 years.

  • Not Amazon but Temple and Webster; bought an Ergohuman Elite v2 chair for just under $600 at the time, came with minor cosmetic blemish (zero impact on functionality), contacted T&W about it and couple days later they advised me a new chair has been sent out and told me to dispose the other chair as I see fit.

  • not only I did not get a refund but I was debited twice of the same amount. Apparently pretty common just wait 60 days for the repeat charge to be corrected not recommended for laptops ok for sewing kit.

  • ordered Nike shoes, got preserved tofu instead. Refunded Tofu price.

  • I was reading this thread today then this just happened so I will post it. Approx $400 cash, I can't be sure as they closed my account

I had a Bundll account and was notified it was closing in May. I loaded it up to the limit of $1000 just before they closed. I never used the snooze feature so had saved up 52 'snooze's' that were unused. Due to purchase dates it was split over 3 separate 'bundll's' so had to pay a min of $20 every 2 weeks on each. One of the 'bundll's' was paid off quickly but I kept dragging the other two out $20 each a fortnight. About 3 weeks ago there was a problem with the app that stopped you from making payments so I emailed support.

We apologise for the delayed response as we are currently receiving an influx of emails. We're experiencing an issue with our snooze feature. As a workaround, we have manually credited one $20.00 payment to your bundll account, refunded the other $20.00 to your bank account and reversed the late payment fee. Please be advised that the snooze issue is ongoing and there is no timeframe yet on when it will be fixed. We're sorry for the inconvenience.

A few days after that I tried making a payment but it was still not working so emailed support again. Got a reply that I need to phone them to manually make a payment.

I gave up and left it to see what would happen, then I get this email today.

    23 Jan
Further to our previous email, as a gesture of goodwill, we have now waived your remaining account balance and closed your bundll account. This means that you are not required to make any more payments.

Recently purchased the 4070ti deal and like others had a 4060ti delivered instead. Contacted them the same day and the chat rep gave me a full refund without needing to send it back. Confirmed my order was fully refunded within the same day.

  • In 2012, I ordered an LG 47LK950S 47" Cinema 3D LCD $645 Delivered from Amazon.de (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/72870), and it came through fine.

I then ordered a 2nd one, which, ended up with what looked like a totally destroyed carton.

I refused to sign for it at the post office, and asked to hold it there until I contacted Amazon.

I sent them the photos, and they agreed to refund the TV, and that I could sign and collect it if I wanted, as it was not worth shipping it back (this is way before Amazon had a presence in Australia).

After I received the refund, I collected it and it worked fine. Both TVs are still working fine 11 years later.

  • An eVGA 1080ti back in the day, the one I ordered got lost and was in shipping for over a month with no updates Amazon sent another one and when the lost one arrived a few weeks later Amazon said to just keep it

  • Knipex water pliers from Amazon DE - requested return so I could buy it at a lower price (before it had arrived) and they refunded whole amount and let me keep the item
