When I laughed at a 27 inch OLED deal for $1200 which was a 2nd, and then I got negged, I mean isn't the whole point of OB to have something like this deal rather than something like the 27 inch?
Fwiw the OLED was only 1440P too.

    • This price has come up a few times I suppose and there's been some better 49 inch deals if you can stretch your money so I understand why this deal wouldn't be super popular, the 32:9 aspect ratio also doesn't have much support just yet so it's a fairly niche spec

      • On the contrary, I think this is a stellar panel and well worth the money, when compared to the 27 inch OLED, it makes a mockery of it.
32:9 aspect ratio is a content creators dream, if I was in the market for a new screen, this would be it.
I paid $1200 for a 4K 65 inch miniLED though, and that's a bargain that can't be beat, especially when it does 144HZ.
Still this screen is a great buy.

    • I also can't justify the price point for OLED either but each to their own

      • OLED is not what you want for static images, I have 2 panels side by side, both 65 inch, OLED vs miniLED.
PC work and gaming = miniLED, Movies = OLED.

  • Yeah but it's still $999 for 1440p VA.
Maybe it's that the Philips 43" 4k is oddly cheap but I feel there are stupid markups on widescreens and refresh rates that aren't reasonable. Maybe it's because the screen is also curved? I'm not saying it's bad just saying I don't understand

    • Which Phillips monitor? I think I found it but it's 60hz and seems to be more aimed at office work, i suppose this is strictly for gaming. I suppose the price point is because it's offering 32:9 aspect ratio which there's few options if you want it, high refresh rate, USB hub and USB C compatibility is a bonus too, also has good colour accuracy and 450nits from what I can see.

      • 438P1. It's what I use, yes low refresh rate but fine for me. It has a hub iirc (I don't use it)

        • Yeah to me that monitor seems cheap and I've seen some deals for it but it also just seems like a 43" TV but with better response times and IPS screen. I would probably justify spending the bit extra on a QLED or miniLED TV instead. When you look at it like that it's not that cheap and probably priced decently compared to say a 32 inch IPS 4k high refresh rate monitor which sit at around $1k before sales so I suppose something like that is more comparable to this monitor.

    • There wouldn't be many use cases where this becomes a better option over something else though, I could see if you were into sim racing it might be a good single monitor solution.

  • This is shorter height than a 27" right? Seems weird to me

    • It's 2 X 24" side by side equivalent, so yeah compare to 24 rather than 27

      • For 2x 27 inch it needs to be 49inch?

  • +2

Thanks - got it for $949.05 with OW price beat!

    • Nice good price, I'm surprised they haven't price dropped to $997 on their website yet as they've had this price a couple times before. If anyone else was looking at the monitor seems like a good time to do it.

      • They will eventually. I have this panel and rate it. Was toying with the idea of that 5k2k kogan panel… but its low spec in other areas eventually put me off. For $950, its a no brainer for those willing to shell out the $$.
