Los Angeles Times Online Subscription US$1 (~A$1.50) for 6 Months (Ongoing US$4/Week) for New or Returning Subscribers Only

110

Looks like the reporters are going on a one day strike due to staff lay-offs and budget cuts. If it happens it would be the first strike in the paper's 142 year history.

Have no idea if the deal is due to this or is ongoing but for $1 for 6 months I thought it might interest some.

Not sure if I even would read it if someone paid me $10 a month, but thank you

Its relevant to us in what way?

    • +2

      Who is 'us'?

      • We're Australians, not yanks. Why would we care to find out what's happening in LA or their perspectives? Maybe for the non-Aussie Americans that frequent ozbargains this might be a bargain. But if we continue on that logic, would people start sharing bargain offers from say Syria or Fiji etc here, and would most of us find it useful? Anyway I haven't negged, just pondering the relevance that's all.

        • Why would we care to find out what's happening in…

          Who is we?

just pondering the relevance that's all.

I'm wondering when you decided that you speak for anyone else other than yourself?

          • @1st-Amendment: We are all the Australians that are using Ozbargain that are not reading LA times on a regular basis…. common sense will tell you that Australian ozbargainers that reads LA Times on a regular basis willl be a tiny, tiny minuscule percent of the population here.

            • @clubhonda:

We are all the Australians that are using Ozbargain that are not…

We're all not all buying lots of things on this site. The is no rule that says everyone has to want every deal posted here…

What you really meant to say 'me' instead of 'us', but then that would make you sound a little unhinged…

              • @1st-Amendment: I think you've strayed way out of the original point which was whether such deals have RELEVANCE. You've jumped to interpret that as everyone needing to want it which is a big stretch. We don't have the 1st Amendment here btw too, and don't need rabid American fans of their constitution polluting our site.

                • @clubhonda:

I think you've strayed way out of the original point

Nope the point has been exactly the same all along. You keep using words like 'we' and 'us' when what you really mean is 'me' and 'I'.
This point has not changed at all .

Relevance is in the eye of the beholder and just because something is not relevant to you doesn't make it not relevant to others.
This is the point which you seen to keep missing.

                  and don't need…

                  Who doesn't need?

You are entitled to your opinion, why do you think that you get to decide anyone else's?

                  • @1st-Amendment: Us refers to Australians. If you are American, this doesn't apply to you obviously. Australians will understand what I mean.

                    • @clubhonda:

                      Us refers to Australians

So back to the square 1, why do you think that you speak for all Australians?

                      • @1st-Amendment: Are you Australian?

                        • @clubhonda:

                          Are you Australian?

Yes. And see how easy it to answer a question without trying deflecting?

Now back to my question, why do you think that you speak for all Australians?

It's ridiculously easy to get around that paywall, not sure why anyone would pay for this

To support the quality reporting …. ?

      • and support Gavin Newsom's run for .. President 2024 ;-)

  • Good deal, a dollar for 6 months.

Just ignore the National Enquirer readers who don’t get a deal.

  • Bypass Paywalls Clean.
