No deal. Need 4070 Ti Super $1200-1300 eBay deal

  • +5

I'm really tempted, but I would hate myself if it was to drop even further in the next 2 weeks leading up to the super release.
I feel 1500$ would be the right price point to get the 4080. My heart balances!

    • +2

retailers probably more desperate to clear it before it eats into their profits

      • That's exactly what I'm counting. 4080 did not sell at all, so I'm hoping to see some big discount as retailers probably still have a shitload of them laying around that they'll want gone before getting stock for the S variant

        • +3

Retailers themselves probably not holding a lot of stock however suppliers/distributors are most likely trying to palm off non-super variants by force bundling with other components e.g motherboards and/or cpus.

          e.g this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/827238

          • @Magicmannn: I already have all the parts for my new computer, just missing the GPU, so can't really get one of those bundles…

            • +3

@Baradhur: oh nah I wasn't suggesting to buy the bundle, was just explaining their possible pricing strategy. :)

    • 1499 mid last year - see previous deals here - so you’d think at least be that, hopefully deeper to clear. I’m tempted, but holding until all the supers are released and the dust settles

  • with new msrp the new super card should be around this price? no?

nvidia site says 1870Aud so AIB partners gpu might be around 1900Aud which is not worth at all.

    • it should be the 4080 is being sold at US retailers, and some EU retailers with rebates from nvidia..effectivle selling a 4080 for 1300 aud.

      this is still too high.

the 4080 even with the super, doesn't make sense when if the rumours are true the 4070ti super is just shy of 10 percent off a 4080 stock, then getting a ti super if ur playing at 1440p or below makes more sense the 4080s isn't 400 bucks better FPS wise

To my understanding $1599 coincides with the best deals the 4080 has seen outside of a couple exceptions ($1499 -$1549.) $1599 works out to be a 28% discount roughly from the original MSRP of $2219. An equivalent discount at some point in the life of the 4080 Super ($1870 MSRP) could see it go as low as $1349 (excluding possible EOL deals down the track.) This is wishful thinking on my part due to at least a couple of reasons, but It's always fun to think how cheap things could possibly go.

You have to take into account what current PSU you have.
    4080 Corsair recommends a 850watt.
Where as the 4070 Ti S only needs a min of 700watts
It all depends if you're going to be OCing or not.

    • Cries in sf600. Maybe I could get away with the 4070 ti s. ITX power supplies are so pricy.

  • 4070ti super is expected launch at 1300 aud and is withing 10 percent of a 4080.. be a better deal

    • +6

      https://www.nvidia.com/en-au/geforce/graphics-cards/40-serie…

      starting at $1499…

and will be slower than the 4080

      • -2

        by 10 percent.

a simple OC can reach that, the 4080 super is going to 400 dollars more..the values no there

At anything below 4k the 4070ti super will provide roughly the same experience as a 4080 according to Hardware unboxed

        • +2

pure speculation and you have got a lot wrong, $1499 @ launch for FEs, more for AIBs.

    • +1

It's gonna take a while for it to go down to 1300. Maybe EOFY if you can wait.

  • I thought the amd 6900 xtx would be better deal than 4080. I'm probably wrong.

    • After doing research 6900 xtx is better for around same price.

      • +1

Assuming you mean 7900 xtx, the 4080 is better in ray tracing, which you likely would want with a GPU that costs >$1k

        • Oh crap. Yes 7900 xtx. Typo

      • +1

Drivers, it's all abt the drivers.

  • Getting hard to resist this.

    • +1

Yeh agree, but hold my friend! I’m waiting til all the supers are released - these offers are the fluffers/enticers, I reckon, to make ppl bite!
