  • Great for calling overseas, extreme slow data speeds at present.

extreme slow data speeds at present.

extremely good data speeds for me at present
      YMMV based on location.

We just had a cyclone and going to have another one!

    • only 300 minutes right?

  • -3

WOW. Their global roaming is the worst I've seen in a while. $10/day or $7.50/day and the max is five days.
Worse than amaysim's lame inclusions, but at least it's 365 days. Good for sms and long/many trips.

    • +1

Just don't use their roaming lol

      • -3

        Thanks captain obvious.

Pray tell how one uses roaming if one was is with lebara, but doesn't use lebara roaming? Quite a pickle….

I was pointing out the exorbitant cost of roaming, which makes their service not a good option if one was to travel.

        • +2

Yea but who even chooses their Australian telco based on what they charge for roaming? In most cases, you're much better off just getting a local SIM wherever you're travelling to

Imo the main thing you should consider is whether or not your telco supports roaming, which is required just for receiving SMS overseas (which is free)

And then if you're concerned about data usage overseas, chances are, it's gonna be cheaper buying a local SIM, regardless of which telco you've chosen to be with in Australia

The best value Aussie telco for roaming is probably Felix Mobile

          • @illumination: Agreed now you can pick up E sims online so easily. No real need for roaming

  • activate by 26/03/24
is that for bonus data or for the entire sim usage?

    • For the bonus data.
4GB + 4GB bonus data if you select auto recharge. You can remove the auto recharge later, after the bonus 4GB lands.

    • Only for activation bonus.

I wish boost come back so that I can jump between Lebara and boost

    • +2

Me too. I jumped from boost to $4 Lebara and I had to buy $20 90days catch connect because Lebara prepaid expires end of Jan.

  • esim?

      • Oh great thank you

      • Can I port instantly? I am out of data with boost

    • +3

You need to buy an online $2 dollar for Sim swap to esim.
I have just recently did this, a little bit of pain in that ass as the QR code sent to me via email unable to load (suspected my email security). Had to do it manually and their support is poor. I figure it out my self in the end.

      • and when saying: "You need to buy an online $2 dollar for Sim swap to esim"

Would you need to buy an online $2 dollar eSim not physical Sim?

        • If you buy a Sim card from Woolworths or other retailer. You need to Sim swap to esim. Means you need to go lebara website to buy the cheapest $2 esim and swap your number to esim.

  • Nice post nocure, handy for sim sluts.

  • Is this good for a quick port change so we can later port back in to Boost when they come back with the bonuses?

    • +1

Yep exactly. Assuming Boost comes back.

  • +4

Damn this one gonna make all the sim sluts' sim slots wet

    • +1

      I prefer dry slots

  • Don't buy, i bought it and only got 4gb not 8gb

    • What did they say when you contacted them?

    • +1

Did you check on the website? The 4GB bonus doesn't show on the app

    • Recently ported to Lebara from Boost using this SIM temporarily before porting back to a new Boost SIM. You only get the 4GB bonus (for some reason I got 5gb) if you sign up for auto recharge during the signup process, and it doesn't arrive straight away, I got it one or two days later. Make sure to turn off auto recharge before you port out again.

  • Lebara on which network?

    • Vodafone network

      • my phone without VOLTE can't call on Vodafone anymore

        • +1

3G is dying and going to catch those without Volte. For yonks calling falls back to 3G if no 4G volte, I don't understand why but this is, but is a fact of the never ending requirement to upgrade.

          • @ocular: It sucks and will for sure catch out unaware boomers

          • @ocular: See reply to Fobsessive, re: May or may not help.

        • +1

This may or may not help.
Friend has Xiaomi X3 nfc (global) was ok on Vodafone, then 6 mths into 12 months starter kit, phone would not make or receive calls, but text still worked.

Vodafone shop at North Lakes Brisbane advised, its not an Australian phone you will need to buy another phone!

Feeling rejected, we did a little research, the issue seems to be common to many phones, brought on by updates - the VoLTE & WiFi options are not visible on the menu. Simply had to dial in a couple of numbers and all was working again. Credit goes to Mr Google and a smart Italian on XDA called Elzazo. https://xdaforums.com/t/volte-not-working.4173849/page-2

Vodafone your advice sucks, but worse still, this highlites the lack of care & sensitivity during these hard financial times!

          • @CheepAsChips: That's very lucky your friend! Thanks for sharing. I'll do some more searching

  • +3

If you can't wait 2 days, these are $5 in at 7-11 in the My 7-11 app offers.

  • I'm using it at the moment. VOWIFI works, I have no mobile phone signal where I'm working currently but have Internet, works just fine.

  • +1

Let's see if Officeworks would match the $4 price again.

  • So these are $4 for $4/mth ongoing ( he asks, with his fingers crossed)?

    • +1

      $14.90/month after first month

  • Sorry if it’s a stupid question but can I buy more than one to recharge later? Thanks

    • you could use it as a data SIM in the 2nd SIM slot

      • Ic. So I cannot just buy 12 and use it for a whole year, right? Thanks

        • Why not? Just not for the primary number

  • +2

These are currently available at Big W for $4.
    No idea when it ends.

  • +3

If you use a lot of data, I would suggest getting the 25GB starter pack which is reduced to $6.

    • -1

This would be the real deal. Wish I knew earlier

  • +3

Available at Officeworks now, for those who have Onepass.

    Original deal post

  • I purchased an e-sim through their website. The email instructed me to "Step 1: Activate your Lebara service: Pick a new mobile number or bring over your existing number and follow the prompts to activate your service. Small 30 Day eSIM". I followed the link to the website, and it forced me to pick a plan and enter card details to continue without ever confirming my new e-sim had been activated. I got charged for a second sim I obviously do not need, even after entering the details of my already purchased e-sim as prompted in the checkout process.

  • +1

Thanks OP, got one to bounce from/to Boost next month.

Local Woolworths didn't have any but found one at the BigW photo counter, pricetag said $14.90, but it scanned at $4

  • "Sim number not found" ?

    • Why isn’t anyone replying they literally have 57 people waiting in line.. I bet they’ve got problems that they are not talking about

      • -2

Update: they had to activate it through chat

New problem for Apple users, I’m having trouble with activating iMessage. What a SHIT company, not worth $4 makes sense.

  • +1

I had the $39.99 for $12, ran out of data after 10 days but still be able to access internet like unlimited.

  • Activating Lebara mobile is always a pain!

  • Feh. I usually buy these at Coles but swung by WW this arvo to grab a couple only to remember that you can't buy them with gift cards because sim cards are treated as gift cards by the WW system. Still, bought them with an Activ Visa gift card at a lower discount but boy do I hate WW.

  • Do these Sim cards have normal national calling/receiving calls as part of the starter pack? Or do I have to top up to call and receive calls?

  • anyone got issues trying to activate it ?? I have not gotten their email to supposedly verify email ownership ??
