Alright.

Got this Sensodyne Toothpaste – because apparently, even toothpaste has its own special edition now. It's for sensitive teeth – because normal teeth just aren't dramatic enough. Tooth sensitivity happens when your teeth throw a tantrum over cold, hot, sweet, or sour stuff – it's not a dental issue; it's a diva move. I just want my teeth to be chill, not starring in a soap opera.

And it's for healthy gums – because gums need pampering too. Healthy gums are maintained by defending against plaque bacteria – as if my gums need a personal bodyguard. I just want them to stay put, not go on a battlefront against microscopic armies.

Dual action – it's toothpaste, not a superhero movie. Dual action for sensitive teeth and gum health – my teeth don't need a multitasking agent. I just want them to do their job without an elaborate plan.

Twice daily brushing – are we turning toothpaste into a drill sergeant now? I just want a clean mouth, not a military regime.

Anyway if you want your toothpaste to sound like it's on a mission to save your teeth and gums from a soap opera saga, this Sensodyne thing might be your dental drama queen. As for me, I just want a toothpaste that does its job without needing a feature film

    +1 for the write-up. 👍

  • Thank OP. Healthy teeth all the way 👍

  • Free the teeths. Oops wrong forum.

  • Yep I think my teeth may be sensitive judging by how many fillings I had to get last dentist visit!

    • Or you're just not taking care of your teeth properly.

I used to get fillings on a regular occasion then I started flossing religiously and chewing sugar free gum after every meal. Now I haven't had a filling in at least 15 years.

    • Are your Wednesday posts no longer a thing? ;-(

For some reason (because it hates me) the site keeps breaking Wednesday morning and by the time I fix it I'm like "I'll just post next week". So fingers crossed, next Wednesday.

my dentist told me to use sensodyne to brush at night before sleeping… but not rinse with water. just spit out twice.

noticeably whiter teeth. check with your own dentist first i guess, rather than listen to a stranger on the net - but seriously, do ask your dentist.

    • I do this as well. It's hard to break the habit of washing out mouth once you finish brushing

did you try this with bleach instead, cheaper I think

Apparently you are supposed to not rinse out your mouth for 30 minutes after brushing with toothpaste. We were all not taught this for some reason.

    • If you want something really different /weird/interesting/expensive have a look at this site: (only expensive because of the US things you cant get here).

      • seems a gimmick imho. it doesn't even have floss..?

        1. have chewing gum after meals. helps stop stuff solidifying.
        2. brush at least twice a day. cleans junk from surface layer of teeth.
        3. floss after brushing. cleans pocket between gums and teeth of junk.
        4. get teeth cleaned by dentist every 6 months. get rid of buildup coz buildup pushes down gum line, which does not re-form afterwards.

Various dentists I've been to have all just said the above three.

  • As someone who has sensitive teeth from time to time (hot or cold triggers pain) tooth paste aimed at sensitive teeth does work.

    • Elaborate?

For those that prefer toothpaste without sodium lauryl sulphate, the pronamel (made by sensodyne) toothpastes are $5.4 with s+s.
    SLS gives me mouth ulcers.

Colgate Sensitive Pro-Relief Gum Care Toothpaste doesn't have sodium lauryl sulphate as well

      Ingredients

Calcium Carbonate, Water, Sorbitol, Arginine, Flavour, Poloxamer, Sodium Monofluorophosphate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Zinc Oxide, Benzyl Alcohol, Carmellose Sodium, Zinc Citrate, Sodium Bicarbonate, Tetrasodium Pyrophosphate, Xanthan Gum, Saccharin Sodium, Sucralose, Titanium Dioxide.

  • This stuff works ❤️

  • I don't experience tooth sensitivity. Would using sensitive toothpaste make my teeth more sensitive?

  • Sensodyne is great and all, but even on sale it's expensive and I really wish they would sell the alternatives on offer in North America here. Arm and Hammer sensitive toothpaste is CAD2.00/120ml tube at walmart. Works just as well (anecdotally and in my own experience).

Tooth sensitivity is very common and they're not using ground up pixies to make it. It's expensive because that's what this market with no competition allows.
