It's like Pokemon had it's with Commando in the world of Zelda

    • +15

      more like Pokemon + ark

      • Ark without pvp.

    • +8
      • Pokemon with guns
      • ARK + Valheim survival
      • Elden Ring architecture aesthetics
      • Genshin / BoTW scenery
      • Fortnite animations…
      • +1

        Copy shit?

        • +4

basically the whole game is a rip-off of other games just done well lol .. won't be surprised if they get a few lawsuits aimed at them especially how they constructed the "pokemon" assets…

        • Watched my kids play it today, seems very much like a whole bunch of other ideas, including Breath of the Wild. It seems to be well made for an Early Access games, kids were loving it. I was watching for if something horrific turns up to take it away. Swearing in it, but they don't recognise the word bastard yet.

  • +8

I'd describe it as Pokemon arceus meets minecraft.

  • Also available on Xbox Game Pass, but may lack cross platform play functionality.

    • +4

Quite the opposite - currently only PC Gamepass can play with Xbox. The Steam copy is on a different version (though I expect this to be fixed very soon)

    • +3

Apparently the game pass version is an older version full of bugs and you can't play with Steam players.

      • +6

Xbox version had an update today. It's been less buggy than some AAA games for me.

        • +1

Yes, we got version 1.1 on gamepass yesterday but steam has had 1.2 almost since launch. Version 1.1 still have the issues I mentioned below.

          • +5

@ChillBro: The version numbers will not be the same between game pass and steam, until the games are crossplay they will not be the same versions and are separate builds of the game entirely.

For a game that's in early access, unless you are playing with friends on steam right now, just enjoy it cheap until then.

        • Yeah update made it stop crashing

      • +3

Google it. There is a reason why it's slightly older (waiting on the a okay from Microsoft for updates).
It will soon catch up (not tomorrow).
Game just came out. Sounds like it's better than 90% of new releases that have co e out in the past couple years.

      • +1

Not many bugs for me on Xbox, also cross play is being worked on in their roadmap for Steam + Xbox/Gamepass PC

    • I play on PC crossplay with Xbox

  • +10

Note that while this game is free to play on gamepass, gamepass has an older version of the game which has more bugs and doesn't support DLSS, dedicated servers, among other things. This is apparently due to the microsoft certification process taking forever whereas this isn't required in steam.

  • Been playing on Xbox bout 30hr but want it on my steam deck. Thanks

    Awesome game!

    • +1

FYI there's no cross prog between Xbox and Steam.

      • Yeah I look know. I think I'll switch to the steam version as it's in better shape and has dedicated servers

  • Cheaper on Xbox via Eneba but sounds like Steam is the better way to go?

    • Xbox via Eneba would give you access to both PC Xbox app and Xbox console

    • +2

Yes. I suggest XBox version as demo.

  • +16

    Pokémon with Guns

    • +6

Not sure why the downvotes. This is literally what it is

      • +4

It's ok, the gang got me back into +

  • +5

I have 30 hrs on Palworld it has 1.5 Millon player on steam surpass CSGO
    1.2Millon Currently https://steamdb.info/app/1623730/charts/#all

  • +10

Pikapew. The 10% off has been running since release though I thought given its early access ..

  • +3

awesome game for the price. It is early access so there is a tonne of bugs but the devs have hit a gold mine on this game. Never even heard of palworld until I saw some trailer when it launched.

  • +2

I've been wanting a game like this for so long. I woke up at 6am this morning and have only left my a few times.. Definitely worth the hype

  • -1

good developers but I wonder if there's much progression in the game

  • Would this be too advanced for a 9 year old? My son loves Pokemon and open world games, he'd love this but worried it would be too difficult.

    • +4

Nah. Minecraft is far more complicated lol.

  • +3

A game for everyone to act as a capitalist and crush the labor-parus.

    • Oh no, capitalism! Whatever shall we do?

  • +5

Is it worth playing solo? I have no Pals

    • +8

I've been playing solo and really enjoying it.

Fun to just roam around collecting materials and pals at your own pace.

    • +1

I actually preferred playing on my own but maybe that's just reflective of my friends I play with

    • Yes it's fun to play solo

  • +2

    GOTY 🏆

  • I see a comparison to Ark, I buy

    • +7

Easily argued that it is sufficiently different, might have to reskin a few pocket monsters at some stage though. Nintendo don't own cartoon monsters (even if their lawyers think so).

      • Fair. Time will tell.

    • There are other monster-collecting games out there - Nintendo doesn't own the whole genre

      • +1

No no kuni was also one.
FF xiii-2 another. World of final fantasy

    • +7

Played it as someone who has played every Pokemon game to date.

Nintendo has no leg to stand on. Completely different games (actually disappointed the way everyone was saying ITS POKEMON WITH GUNS. It's more like Ark with cuter, easier to enslave dinosaurs.

The only thing they "might' be able to argue is some of the skins are VERY similar, but they can't trademark an art style.

      • +2

FWIW, there's been multiple claims that many of the monsters appear to have been exported from Pokemon games and reskinned or altered and then reimported - to the point people say the similarities are basically impossible to get to naturally for a 3D modeler. I think that's where the issue stems from.

        • +1
          • @ChillBro: I've seen many posts highlighting these, not just the one Twitter user in this instance.

        • Turns out the 3D model argument was because someone lied and falsified "proof"

      • Yet Cadbury trade marked purple. For a while.
Apple trademarked the rectangular shape of the iPhone

    • +4

This game has been floating around for sometime. If nintendo wanted to they would crush it and it would never even seen release.

    • -2

WOW, so many negs just for a genuine concern. Go OzBargain, and free speech.
      Must be PalWorld fanbois.

I hate Pokemon, always have, but PalWorld looks awesome.
I'm generally interested in buying into it with everyone else, however it is only digital. No physical copy I can keep forever.
OzBargain is all about saving money. Yet you misplace your negs constantly.

      So anyway:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7oWA9kDq7OQ

OzBargain is doing my head in again.
About time I disable my account and (profanity) off again.

    • They can afford decent lawyers with 7 million sales

      • +2

FYI it's 8mil now. Goes up by a million every time you think about the game lol

        • It's insane isn't it! Good to see tbh

  • +1

    When is gamepass fix coming

    • Fix for what?

      • gamepass version is out of date compared to steam, like 6 months out of date

        • It's early access, it will prob forever been lagging in update due to Microsoft's being more restrictive (I hear). When we get to 1.2 the steam version will be 1.4 :p

Anyway I have played the Xbox version for 30+ hrs and apart from the odd crash and some hilarious bugs it's been perfectly enjoyable

        • -1

its not 6 months out of date lol where did you hear that. it's only 1 patch behind right now but it'll speed up as Microsoft is fast tracking their cert process which is how they updated the game twice in 2 days.

    • +5

      Yes

    • +10

      Guess it's not Palominoworld

    • Ricky would like a word with you: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L3dxMGzt5mU

    • You could always play games that let you live out the fantasy of being a drug dealer, space marine, Indiana Jones, an angry dad or a Jedi, but you're not 12 either…

  • +3

    Bloody good game

  • +1

Update for those who haven't bought yet - the devs have just released a roadmap.

Among that list is the plan to introduce crossplay between steam and xbox versions. Looks like we'll be able to transfer/migrate between servers too. Hopefully it'll mean we won't need to pay for dedicated servers or wait for person X to come online to resume progress.

  • More like ARK, but sneaking up behind a pink cat pal and bashing him up with my club before throwing a sphere at it is pretty brutal.

    • -1

It's a video game, there's nothing brutal about pixels and playing make believe.

      • It's the same as seeing John Wick throw a knife through a baddie's eye. It's just a movie, make believe and special effects. Doesn't make it any less brutal. Especially when you are the one controlling the Pal's fate.

        • It's a cartoon character in a video game. They don't have a fate at all.

  • Loving the game, but I wouldn't call it 'similar to pokemon'. It's a survival game akin to ARK that happens to have pokemon.

  • Already 30+ hrs of playing. Hope that explained.

  • +3

I'm with Dunkey on this one. I'm getting a bit tired of this survival crafting genre.
But honestly. It wont be hard to beat some of the recent Pokemon games.

    • +11

Same I have better things to do with my free time than grind shit as at least I get paid to grind at work all day.

    • +1

I personally enjoy Valheim as a building sim than a survival game.

      • I play Runescape. So am used to grinding. And loved Satisfactory. The survival crafting genre can be good. But only if the gimmick is good enough to seperate it from pack.

    • -1

The difference is that I can put the Pals to work to do the crafting, once I set the production list. Tired of planting seeds in the farm? Get a plant-based Pal that can seed. Tired of watering? I have a penguin there spraying water. Tired of chopping wood? I have the huge deer thing doing it instead. I spend time exploring and taking down those giant raid Pals instead.

The feel of the game, movement etc, is very close to Genshin Impact, surprisingly!

      • Being able to have workers to automate some tasks and fight along side you isnt exactly a new thing. But it does seem more rewarding in this game.

Im just happy seeing Pokemon company get a reality check and kick in the balls.

  • didn't someone say you can get this from the Argentinian store for like $5 with VPN?

    • $9 with Argentinian VPN is the cheapest I could get for the Xbox Marketplace. Pretty sure it’s a Play Anywhere title so both platforms too.

      • whats the cheapest method for PC as i dont have xbox cheers

        • -1

          The high sea?

        • Eneba - argentina code

  • What engine does this run… Unreal would be good for uevr

    • From my understanding it was originally Unity but now Unreal 5.0

  • +1

I've got this game and I'm currently absolutely loving it. It has its little quirks (anyone who's fought penking will know what I'm talking about) but I'm also the kind of person who dropped thousands of hours into ARK even though it's buggier than an ant nest…

This game is more like ARK with cute dinosaurs, not pokemon with guns.

    • yep exactly the same feels here, it's been a hoot
